Visit Loma Vista Farm: This is your SIGN!
Loma Vista Farm and Animal Sanctuary was opened in 1974. The 5-acre farm is an outdoor classroom that provides hands-on educational activities involving plants and animals for children of all ages and abilities. Its mission is to seek to increase students’ knowledge of nature and nutrition while enhancing academic learning, ecoliteracy, and psychosocial development.
For years this farm has been known to many Vallejoans by word of mouth and other activities the Farm has participated in or sponsored in the Vallejo Community, but
the one thing they didn’t have … directional signs to direct and guide those looking for the farm or to pique the interest of passerby's who hadn’t yet heard about the farm! Well, that has changed due to the advocacy of farm supporters and our public works department!
Directional signs for the farm have been installed with two on Corcoran Avenue near the farm’s 150 Ranier Avenue location and one on Fairgrounds Drive and Corcoran.
So here it is, this is your SIGN to visit the Loma Vista Farm and support their work in the Vallejo community!

Indigenous Peoples Day
Indigenous Peoples Day (formerly Columbus Day) honors the histories, cultures, and perspectives of Indigenous peoples and their ancestors who lived on the land now known as North America. They existed in these areas thousands of years before the first European explorers arrived.
The day is in recognition of the disease, genocide, and slavery brought to the Americas through the interactions of Columbus and other
European explorers with Indigenous peoples. In addition, the arrival of European explorers and settlers also meant that Indigenous peoples increasingly lost access to their ancestral lands and natural resources, which greatly impacted their ability to practice aspects of their cultures and traditions.
City Administrative Offices will be closed on Monday, October 10 in recognition of the holiday.

Summer Limb Drop!
Trees don’t just have failures in stormy weather; trees also suffer from what some would call a phenomenon (summer limb drop). This mostly happens on hot and windless summer days.
In the pictures you’ll see that we experienced summer limb drop at two of our watershed locations, which Water Maintenance Workers took care of. We removed the downed limbs and any other potential hazardous limbs that posed future risk.
