Vallejo Warming Shelters ARE OPEN!

The National Weather Service has reported "extreme weather," which is expected to make landfall in our area on Thursday evening through Saturday Evening with the risk of flooding. Due to the extreme weather circumstances, the City of Vallejo will open an overnight warming shelter for those seeking respite from the weather from Thursday, March 9, through Saturday, March 11, from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am.

The shelter will be located in the Vallejo room at 505 Santa Clara Street, on the backside of City Hall, just below the JFK Library.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners at

SolTrans, those seeking transportation to and from the warming shelter will be provided with a free bus ride by simply mentioning to the driver that they are "traveling to or from the Vallejo warming shelter."

Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring their own blankets, although there will be a limited number of blankets and pillows available. In addition, participants will be limited to bringing in one small bag of personal items as space is limited.

upcoming Business watch meeting

ATTENTION VALLEJO BUSINESS OWNERS!

We are pleased to announce the restoration of the Vallejo Business Watch program! This program has been inactive since 2016. However, with the increase in safety concerns from our businesses, it was important to bring this program back with a few upgrades that are appropriate for our business climate. The Vallejo Business Watch program is now being coordinated by the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Vallejo, the Vallejo Police Department, and the Vallejo Chambers Alliance.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A CHAMBER MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE.

Goals for this program include creating Business Watch groups throughout the entire city of Vallejo. Groups will be put together based on geographic location.

Once groups are formed, they will have their

own meetings to create a phone/email tree, and discuss safety precautions and preventative measures for their areas.

These meetings will also bring together resources for each group; these resources may include the police department, code enforcement, city attorney’s office, and any other resources that may be needed.

If you would like more information, please send an email to: vallejobusinesswatch@gmail.com

Please Include:

• Name of your business

• Business address

• Best Contact

• Email

• Phone

They will send out an invitation to a citywide kick-off event and use this email to form the Business Watch groups.

Extreme Weather Shelter Updates

The City of Vallejo continues to organize emergency overnight shelters for residents seeking respite from extreme weather conditions. As of March 2, 2023, the overnight shelter has served 227 participants, providing them with warm shelter, hot meals, and essential supplies such as blankets, sleeping bags and pillows.

This work has been successful due in part to the City’s partnership with local agencies (GVRD and SolTrans), multiple communitybased organizations, and dedicated community volunteers who help staff the overnight center and/or have donated supplies. Additionally, Vallejo residents have consistently voted to use Participatory Budget dollars to help unhoused neighbors and the Warming Shelter is one of the ways that dollars have directly reached people. Fighting Back Partnership, who received Participatory Budget dollars, purchased 100 pillows and Winter rated sleeping bags that have been gifted to warming shelter guests.

The City of Vallejo continues to monitor the weather daily and will continue to open an overnight Extreme Weather Shelter when weather conditions meet the City’s Extreme Weather Policy. During the warmer months, the City will open a daytime cooling center when the City experiences two consecutive days of temperature of 100 degrees or higher. To ready the full Extreme Weather Center policy click here.
