MANAGING THE IMPACTS
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
OF OUR
We are preparing a suite of management plans for Auckland Council approval that set out how we will manage the effects of our construction works on people and the environment. These management plans include specific measures to address environmental effects such as noise and vibration, traffic movements and parking, air quality, trees and vegetation, contamination, groundwater and settlement. We are also preparing a Social Impact and Business Disruption management plan, and in doing so are seeking input from people living and working within the vicinity of the construction area. We need to understand how people could be affected so that the management plans we prepare are as effective and responsive as possible. Community feedback is incorporated into the various draft management plans and their authors – all specialists in their respective fields – provide a summary of their draft document to the Mt Eden Community Liaison Group (CLG) for input and attend a special CLG meeting to answer questions and record feedback. The plans are then finalised and sent for independent review before being submitted to Council for approval.
Review the proposed method of construction and consult with local residents and businesses to identify potential effects
Propose ways to avoid or manage those effects in a draft plan
Engage with mana whenua and Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) about the effects, how to manage them and the draft plan
Consider and address their feedback
Engage independent experts to review (‘test out’) the draft plan
Supply the draft plan to Council for review and approval
Following Council approval, ensure the measures outlined in the plan are carried out before, during and after (if applicable) construction
