WORKING WITH THE

LOCAL

COMMUNITY

The Community Liaison Group represents the neighbouring business, residential and political communities impacted by these works. Together, we’ve planned for the utility investigation and diversion works to be carried out in a way that minimises impacts.

We’ll be developing a range of activities to keep the public space around construction sites bright and pleasant and support local businesses: • Hoardings can be used for aesthetic purposes, depending on site-specific factors, different materials can be used. We’ll be seeking feedback from local businesses on hoarding designs. • Business support activities – business packs, maps, directories, events and promotional campaigns will be considered as part of support package to be developed with neighbouring businesses. • Street cleaning – daily street cleaning will be carried out around the sites to ensure all spaces around the sites are kept clean and tidy, and free of any debris. As a neighbouring business or resident, expect to hear from us through: • Construction updates • Meet the Alliance events • Newsletters • Face to face information pop-ups like this one!

As we move from planning to delivery, we’ll establish communication channels to share project updates and important information with the local community. We’ll also communicate more widely to promote that our neighbouring businesses are open and communicate changes to road layouts.

The 3.45km twin-tunnel underground link will unlock our public transport network and transform the way we travel around our city. When CRL opens, Aucklanders will have new world-class stations and a modern rail service that benefits the entire transport network. Britomart Station will no longer have a dead-end. It will become a two-way through station - doubling the capacity of the entire rail network to carry up to 54,000 passengers an hour at peak. New architecturally-designed stations with underground platforms will be built under Albert Street and Karangahape Road - providing new transport connections.

• Hoardings – Protective barriers around work sites can also be used for information purposes. Our hoardings will be used to communicate information about the works and promote surrounding businesses as accessible and open. They will provide neighbourhood wayfinding, directing people where to go to access local businesses and services.

QUESTIONS OR

• Wayfinding – Site wayfinding complements the wayfinding on hoardings by providing a finer level of detail, for example signs giving detour instructions for people moving around the site. • Campaigns – We’ll promote significant changes to the road layout through wider information campaigns that include social media.
