2014 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival Jami McKeon to Keynote Women’s Resource Center of Greater Philadelphia Leadership Luncheon

Festival Kicks Off with Karaoke April 2 and Runs through April 13

hiladelphia will witness, once again, the breathtaking beauty of cherry blossoms this spring and the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia is being planned to highlight this wonderful feat of nature and its Japanese origins. The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) is proud to present the festival for the 17th year. Between April 2 and April 13, 2014, dozens of fun and family friendly events are planned throughout the region—from Center City to the Main Line, from Old City to Fairmount Park. Without leaving home, Philadelphians can experience the best parts of Japan, including superior international performances, try time-honored arts and craft, and the colorful contemporary cultures of cosplay and anime. The 11 days of festivities build to the centerpiece event – Sakura Sunday taking place on Sunday, April 13 at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. This day-long outdoor celebration of all things Japanese is the final event of the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival and

ami Wintz McKeon, the first female Chair-elect at global law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in its 140-year history, will be the keynote speaker at the 8th Annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon, which benefits the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) in Wayne. Themed “Creating Your Path to Success,” the Women’s Leadership Luncheon will take place at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on Attorney Jami Wintz McKeon will be the Broad Street in Philadelphia keynote speaker at the 8th Annual Women’s on Friday, April Leadership Luncheon, Friday, April 11 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ms. McKeon, who is a partner in Morgan Lewis’s Litigation Practice, will share insights on how women can create their own paths to success. Ms. McKeon is one of only a handful of women leading international law firms today. A graduate of Villanova Law School, Ms. McKeon has held various leadership positions in her more than 30 years with Morgan Lewis including practice group leader of the firm’s litigation practice. April 16 - June 28 at International House Philadelphia nLiquid presents “From Rio to Brotherly Love,” a solo photography exhibition by Daniel Gafanhoto, at International House Philadelphia from April 16 - June 28, 2014. An Opening reception will be held Wednesday, April 16, from 6 - 8 p.m. at International House Philadelphia, First Floor Gallery, 3701 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19104. “From Rio to Brotherly Love” is a show about two cities; two major cities that are very globally known. One is Gafanhoto’s hometown in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and the other his first home city in the United States, Philadelphia. Through vibrant, stylized photographs, this show captures the unique landscapes of these two distinct cities, while simultaneously suggesting their similarities. moved to the USA almost three years ago. He studied Social Sciences for two years, but realized that he always wanted to mix this interest with the visual arts—choosing photography, which allows him to both express himself and work with art and sociology simultaneously. Gafanhoto’s current works focus on cityscapes and their interaction with nature, architecture, and many varieties of subjects in close-up, which are then edited, processed, and manipulated using several programs.
