Author Susan Morse Kicks Off Opening West Laurel Hill Cemetery to of Golden Slipper’s May Passport Series Host Author Janet Mason est Laurel Hill Cemetery and the Boneyard Bookworms Book Club welcome awardwinning author Janet Mason, author of Tea Leaves, for a presentation, reception, and book signing. Tea Leaves tells the story of mothers and daughters, embarking when the narrator’s mother is diagnosed with fourth-stage cancer. Tea Leaves is a story of gender and class, identity and sexuality but, most of all, it is about love. The afternoon will include a reading and Q&A Session with Janet Mason as well as book signing and a dessert reception. The event will take place Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. in the Conservatory on the grounds of the Cemetery. There is no charge to attend but reservations are requested. Janet Mason is an award winning writer of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry whose literary commentary is regularly featured on This Way Out, an international LGBT radio news syndicate based in Los Angeles and aired on more than 400 radio stations in the U.S. and abroad. She is also a blogger for The Huffington Post. Her book Tea Leaves, a memoir of mothers and daughters, was published by Bella Books in 2012. It is a touching portrait of parenting a parent at a time in life when you could really use one. Morse provides an inspired and often hilarious narrative of the complex relationship with her eccentric mother, endurance in the face of the impossible and ultimate healing of the heart. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Adath Israel in Frankel Hall, 250 N. Highland Avenue, Merion Station, PA. Susan will be available to sign books after the conclusion. Susan Morse was educated at Williams College and has worked as an actress in L.A. and New York. She now lives in Philadelphia with her husband actor David Morse. usan Stefanski was a 47-year-old mother of three working as a secretary for Villanova University when she first applied a paint brush to a creative act. Now, 13 years later, hardly a day goes by when she isn’t using one expressly for that purpose. A fulltime, award-winning painter, Stefanski’s work has been featured in scores of solo and group exhibits. On April 26, Stefanski returns to Villanova with “Nature’s Gifts,” a solo exhibit of large and medium-size landscapes and floral arrangements in oil. A reception to meet the Havertown, PA, artist will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. in the campus Art Gallery in the Connelly Center. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. It was in an after-work class taught by Villanova art instructor Br. Jack Stagliano, O.S.A. (Order of St. Augustine) that Stefanski discovered her

gift and love of painting. After hundreds of hours of art classes at Villanova and elsewhere, she left the university in 2006 to become a full-time artist. “Court Blues,” Oil on Canvas, by Susan Stefanski, in the exhibit “Nature’s Gifts,” at the Villanova University Art Gallery, April 26 through June 8. “I sensed God’s hand in all of this. Painting was my opportunity to pay back, to make a difference with the gift of creativity I was given. I loved my job, I loved the people I worked with, but art was my calling,” she says.
