They even attracted the attention of the upper echelons of British society. They were asked to provide the music for Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Ball, and at last summer’s UK Olympics The Lightyears wrote the music for the Olympic Torch Ceremony, which they

Tickets are now available for acclaimed singer-songwriter Jonatha Brooke’s poignant one-woman musical play “My Mother Has Four Noses,” based on Brooke’s care of her mother during her mother’s final two years battling Alzheimer’s disease, which will be presented on Wednesday, September 11, at World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, by WXPN 88.5 as part of the 2013 Fringe Festival.

performed live with an orchestra, choir, and 600 children! Now The Lightyears’ keyboard player, Chris Russell, has written a novel called Mockstars. Although a work of fiction, music fans will no doubt recognize the characters who flit through its pages. The book has already been acclaimed by UK Critics; Alex Marsh described it as “Hilarious! It’s Bill Byson meets Spinal Tap!” The book, and a new album, will appear in the US this Fall. The Lightyears will take a break from playing major venues on their current American tour to play an intimate, semi-acoustic show at the tiny Jamey’s House of Music in Philadelphia on Friday August 16, when Chris Russell will also read excerpts from his new book.

Brooke will bring this poignant and humorous one-woman musical play to Philadelphia as part of Philly Fringe Fest 2013. My Mother Has Four Noses is based on Brooke’s care of her mother during her mother’s final two years battling Alzheimer’s disease. Of her late mother, Brooke said, “She was a character. She was a published poet, a Christian Scientist, a clown, and always up for drama. Almost daily she would say, ‘Boolie (my nickname), that’s good! Are you getting this down? We should make a play out of it!’ I did get it down, and I did write a play. It is my songs, her poems and our stories enmeshed. It is a
