Le Chaim kosher restaurant now open Le Chaim, a new east side kosher restaurant, opened in August at 14417 Cedar Road in South Euclid. Owned by Haim and Devorah Leibowitz of Beachwood, Le Chaim is under the supervision of Cleveland Kosher. The restaurant’s menu boasts items like pita, baguette or wrap sandwiches with beef kabob, falafel or grilled chicken; grilled chicken and schnitzel salads; and a selection of burgers, with sides like French fries and green beans. It also serves children’s items like hot dogs and chicken nuggets. The restaurant also does small catering orders, and is awaiting a liquor license, Haim Leibowitz tells Jstyle. He says the space, which previously housed Sababa Cuisine, made sense because it is centrally located in the Jewish community. And while Le Chaim’s name is similar to his name, it is not named after him, Leibowitz says. Its name stems from wanting to connect people over food. “We’re trying to translate the idea of saying ‘l’chaim,’ that customers can come here and say it together, blessing each other,” he told the CJN in August. “Our goal is to bless each other and make everyone happy. Our goal in life is to help out all Jews.”

Eisenstat creates Edda Coffee Roasters Charlie Eisenstat, creator of Pour Coffee Co. and online store Pour Cleveland, opened Edda Coffee Roasters in June in the Intro Cleveland Building at 2075 W. 25th St. in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood. The company is owned by Harbor Bay Hospitality, part of Harbor Bay Real Estate which built Intro Cleveland. Originally called Leaps & Bounds, the cafe’s name was later changed to Edda, the title of a collection of Norse
mythological poetry. The cafe can seat 80 people with workspaces, meeting areas and a patio. It also has an all-day menu with pastries, acai bowls, avocado toast, ricotta toast, breakfast sandwiches, tacos and burritos, salads, poke bowls and sandwiches. Larder, Jack’s on best Jewish delis list Tasting Table, a New York City-based digital media company focused on food and drink, named Larder Delicatessen in Cleveland and Jack’s Deli in University Heights to its top 20 Jewish delis in the United States. “The Best Jewish Delis In The US” list was released Aug. 9, and included 20 delis. Larder, located in the Ohio City neighborhood’s Hingetown district, is led by Jeremy Umansky and his wife, Allie La Valle Umansky. Jack’s Deli has been open since 1980, led by Alvie Markowitz and Gary Lebowitz.
