Sweet Baby by Ashley Harris. Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts and Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Carta Bella Paper; Sequins: Darice; Die-cutting machine: Silhouette America; Ribbon: May Arts; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Other: Pen.
Use Sequins for Instant Sparkle If you're just starting your mixed media journey there are some simple ways to make your layout look like a metallic pro with just a few products. Purchase some premade metallic shapes with negative space (glitter chipboard works great). Add a simple touch of sparkle, like Ashley Harris did using sequins, glitter, or even a metallic pen.
For a no-muss, no-fuss alternative to glitter, try using sequins. Adhere sequins to your layout and then machine stitch them for extra reinforcement. Purchase sequin ribbon for an even faster metallic embellishment or layout border.

Right Here Right Now by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. Supplies: Patterned paper: American Crafts, BasicGrey, Lily Bee Design, October Afternoon, and Studio Calico; Decorative tape: 7gypsies; Tag: Avery; Rhinestone: Kaisercraft; Stencil: The Crafter’s Workshop; Stamps: Clearsnap, Hero Arts, and Inkadinkado; Ink: Ranger Industries; Acrylic paint: Dick Blick and Liquitex; Other: Thread, typewriter, watercolor paper, and waxed paper.
TIP: For the perfect "mess" allow each successive layer time to dry to the touch.
Collage Layering Master the art of successful collage by pairing multiple layers of paper with stencil work. The trick is in the layering. Start by applying ink you’ve thinned with water on top of a multilayer paper base, which allows the paper designs to show through and enhances the texture of your design. Add texture to your layout using paint and a variety of stencils. Finish your collage using bright white and yellow stamped images, which establish strong visual contrast against the busy, stenciled background and connect page elements.
