The design of the small pop-up shop for Acne includes an inserted plane that is manipulated by an aggregation of the pattern. This shop provides a variation in experience and privacy through its many layers which begin to define the use of each space.
acne flagship store Located within the W Hotel in Austin, the Acne flagship store provides an exclusive and luxorious shopping experience. Continuing the idea of the pop-up shop, the wrapping plane is manipulated into an inserted folding wall that marks all important points of program throughout the space.
The flagship is unified through the main design feature of the pattern infused, wrapping plane. Like the pop-up shop, the layers of the plane provides various levels of privacy throughout the space.

COLLAB WORK ZONES The collaboration zones offer Coalesce members complete user control through a felt partition system that slides into meeting spaces. These partitions nest into each other to transform into an open space. Tables in this area are able nest into each other to form larger work stations to meet the needs of various group sizes.
COWORKING SPACE Coalesce is a coworking space with an environment that offers the opportunity for individuals to share values and experiences while promoting work-life integration. User productivity is enriched through open, varying work stations which support a range of work modes: collaborative, individual, and hybrid.

FOCUS WORK ZONES It is psychologically proven that lowered ceiling heights are conducive to focus work. The focus work zone utilizes this method with both standing and sitting height desks to provide Coalesce members with a variety of options for focus work.
These playful desk pods provide a private area for individuals who desire to work alone and focus. The desks can fold up and the pods can be pushed together to transform into a fun swinging hangout.
The stacked felt partition, used in multiple places throughout Coalesce, is a user controlled privacy partition. The felt strips, held in tension, can slide back and forth along their tracks, which allow for a variation in space enclosures.

poetry & literature center Located in an existing building on Congress Avenue in Austin, the center integrates a study and reading room, interactive gallery space, beverage bar, and performance space in an open plan with inserted, wrapping planes of Texas Ebony wood that define each programmatic need.
A wrapping plane, at different scales, begins to define each program, which allows for an intuitive interpretation of the separate programs.
Vertical circulation is addressed by a staircase that encourages movement up to the interactive gallery space, while rhythm and repetition are achieved through the continuation of the wrapping plane.
oxford shirt redesign The alteration of an oxford shirt constructs a tangible expression of the relationship between the material’s properties and its unit of support underneath—the human body. The idealized form and perfection of the human body as introduced by da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man generates the “infinite” circular form of the shirt which is evenly pleated in order to map the alterations made to fit the human form.
women & children‘s shelter The improvement and redesign of the Austin Women and Children’s Shelter provides an overall schematic redesign of the shelter. The Theory of Change poses that short term changes lead to long term impacts; this is the fundamental basis of the ability that design changes within the shelter have to improve the lives of the clients. A sense of ownership is provided to the clients through the manipulation of boundary and threshold: eliminating existing single-loaded corridors leading to the private bedrooms and moving the doors to the underutilized courtyards.

BIOPHILIA - a hypothesis suggests that there is an instinctive bond between human beings and other living systems. Incorporate a PHYSICAL CONNECTION with nature through blurring the notion of threshold in the public areas – to draw people to nature which provides a foundation for healing. Each front door features a custom furniture set to mark its location, incorporating a place of gathering to foster a sense of acceptance. Every set is shared by two rooms which fosters the idea of community. The planters provide a physical connection with nature, which is proven to provide a foundation for healing.

SUCCULENT STUDIES An observation of the succulent and it’s proportions and shape. Recording details by hand and digitally through orthographic projection. The representation below is a diagrammatic exploration of the lifecycle, geometries, and nature of the succulent and also drives the design of the module for the pavilion.
lbj wildflower pavilion The pavilion was created through the aggregation of an abstracted module into a field. The pavilion addresses the capture and shedding of natural light while encouraging the visitor to view the gardens from a new perspective.
lbj wildflower ARBORETUM The Arboretum at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center is designed with a focus on the connection with the variables of the site: views, light, wind, water, and movement. The orientation and views of the existing trees were the driving force behind shape of the building, which includes a sloped roof for water collection.The design of the Arboretum responds to the views of the site with a focus on human interaction with the surrounding nature.
LIGHT & SHADE The sun shade was developed through the design and aggregation of a singular paper module. It explores the interaction and control of shedding light and casting shadows.
LIGHT SHADE SHADOW A black and white tone drawing of an image that defines the qualities of light. The assignment focuses on observing the behavior of natural light while considering composition and abstraction.
g i p s y t r a i l h o u s e A case study of the Gipsy Trail House investigates the relationship between manual and digital processes through a hand drafted plan, section, and elevation along with diagrammatic axons produced in Adobe Illustrator.

D E S I G N
The Modular Wave intends to provide light for any outdoor path and allows for an aesthetic variation through modular pieces that can be arranged in a custom order. It produces a warm comfortable light that guides passersby on a night time stroll or run. Each arrangement allows for a subtle gradation of warm up-lighting to illuminate the path. PARAMETRIC DESIGN Through the use of Grasshopper, Rhino, and Revit, an extraction of the pixel information of a selected image results in vector information, which is translated into a model. Each module is lasercut, folded, and formed into the model.

anthropologie window The front window display at Anthropologie was an interpretation of wildflowers. The wildflowers were constructed of cardboard and paper that were naturally dyed using plants and fruits to achieve their appropriate color. The over exaggerated size of the flowers sculpturally engage and activate the large window display. TEAM MEMBER: ROBERT STRIBLING
GRAPHIC DESIGN The client wanted to update their brand starting with their merchandise; the coffee bags now pop on grocery store shelves and gain attention from their desired target audience.
GRAPHIC DESIGN The client wanted an overall redesign of their brand with a hand-drawn aesthetic. The project included designing business cards, stamps, thank you cards, and other packaging.
