What is it?

A large exposed headland.

Where is it?

Emerald Beach is 15 minutes north of Coffs Harbour.

What’s there?

There are no facilities apart from a car park.

Joel Jardine What bait should I use?

Beach worms, fresh cut baits (i.e. Pilchard, Yellowtail or Slimey Mackerel), live baits such as Mullet, Yakkas, Slimey Mackerel and Garfish.

What fish should I target?

Bream, Whiting and Dart in the wave zone, Mulloway in the washes, Spanish Mackerel and Northern Bluefin Tuna as well as monster Yellowtail Kingfish and Snapper.

Stay Safe

The rocks on the headland are very slippery so make sure you have suitable footwear when fishing here. What lures are best?

Hard bodied divers such as Croaker or Leavey Jew lures, high speed metals such as 65gm Spanyids and stickbaits such as the Shimano Orca. Best time to fish?

All year round, though January to May will produce your pelagic species. What dream fish might I catch?

Kingfish to 24kg (getting them out is very difficult). Large Mulloway and Spanish mackerel.

For the kids

This location is not suitable for children. Better for the very experienced rock fisher, these rocks are extremely slippery.
