What is it?

Boambee Creek is one of the many small creeks that the Coffs coast has to offer with a diverse range of fishing options. Where is it?

Boambee Creek is situated to the south of Coffs Harbour. Boambee Reserve is located at the mouth of Boambee Creek along First Avenue. The upper reaches of the creek can be accessed along Hogbin drive and turning into High-Tec drive in Toormina. What’s there?

Two boat ramps in separate areas allow almost the entire river system to be fished. Boambee Bay Reserve at the mouth of the creek is perfect for the family with large sand flats, undercover shelters and BBQs along with the facilities to launch a small tinny. What fish should I target?

Whiting, Flathead and Bream along with Blackfish. There is also Jewfish on the surrounding beaches.

What bait should I use?

Yabbies are the bait of choice when targeting Bream, Whiting and Flathead. Nippers can be caught with just the humble old Yabbie pump Sandworms are also a great option.

What lures are best?

Soft plastics provide anglers with the chance to chase a variety of species. Soft plastics such as the 4 inch Gulp Nemesis in pumpkinseed or pearl watermelon along with the Gulp Swimming Mullet in pumpkin seed also in the 4 inch are great places to start. Best time to fish?

The best time to fish Boambee Creek is the summer months. There are not many better ways to spend a day than wading around casting soft plastics for Flathead or floating back yabbies’ for Bream. Summer brings the Whiting on the bite and with Whiting being able to be caught in plague proportions in the summer months the kids will for sure be kept busy, as will the parents removing hooks and rebaiting.

What dream fish might I catch?

Boambee Creek offers the chance to crack the magic meter when it comes to Flathead or the 40cm Whiting along with some trophy Bream. If you are willing to put in the hours and do the miles you definitely will be rewarded with the fish of a lifetime.
