VIDEO EDITING The video editing process can be quite the long one. I use a combination of softwares in order to achieve a finsihed tutorial or promo video. I use iMOVIE to initially cut clips. Then I use Adobe SpeedGrade for color grading the clips, Adobe Audition for editing my voiceover clips, then I finally bring everything together in Adobe Premiere Pro.

SHE SHE is a wearable tech jewelry line that aims to help women gain control of their self-confidence through habitually learning awareness of their emotional patterns.

WOMEN’S LACK OF CONFIDENCE Through much research and personal experience, I have seen a great pattern with how women perceive themselves. While women have numerous amounts of talents and beauty, our lack of self confidence is oftentimes the biggest reason why we sometimes do not even try to reach our goals. I aimed to find a playful approach for women to receive their information; if women enjoyed learning about themselves, it could turn the entire experience into something fun!

id.claudine@gmail.com

033

IDEATION In my ideation process, I looked for many ways and forms on how to apply an emotion tracker. I found that a jewelry wearable is most suitable.

034

claudine zafra

FINAL DIRECTION For my final direction, I understood that my form had to be small, for a woman to not mind wearing it every day.

id.claudine@gmail.com

035

36

claudine zafra

PROTOTYPING Since my models would be too small to make out of high density urethane foam, I decided to get them 3D printed on the Objet printer for its high resolution print quality. I designed the wearables on CAD so that when printed, a woman could put them on to see how it looks on them. Careful craftsmanship was a must with such small and delicated pieces.

FLEX FLEX is a bluetooth powered large PA speaker design. Flex is designed with both a high volume and a low volume manufacturing interpretation.

42

id.claudine@gmail.com

43

DESIGNING SPEAKERS FOR THE RUNWAY What is a fashion show without high energy music that sets the tone for the collections? Fashion designers and their team work hard to put together an all around entertaining show; but why are they constricted to ugly hanging or standalone speakers? I feel that it would be interesting to design speakers that goes with the aesthetic of the fashion show. This detail for a show is one that can truly complete the look and feel.

44

claudine zafra

id.claudine@gmail.com

45

IDEATION I knew from the beginning that I wanted to redesign a large standing PA speaker. I played with how it can stand, along with how I can manipulate materials and processes.

46

claudine zafra

FINAL DIRECTION For my final direction, I chose this design aesthetic because my persona is an avant gard wedding dress designer. I chose to be edgy whilst being quiet.

INVERT INVERT is a wearable anxiety tracker that utilizes sweat and heart rate sensors in order to detect if the user is about to have an anxiety episode.

id.claudine@gmail.com

57

DEALING WITH ANXIETY & STRESS Every person deals with stress and anxiety to a certain extent. Many are aware of the times they are stressed and have learned how to manage it. Others undergo anxiety during stressful situations and do not have the skills to manage this state of mind. I tried to help solve the problem of social anxiety for college students that are starting to shape their careers and social skills.

58

claudine zafra

id.claudine@gmail.com

59

IDEATION I wanted the application for my wearable to be on the palm for its eccrine glands. Finding the right form to be worn as a glove was what I was ideating.

60

claudine zafra

FINAL DIRECTION For my final direction, I opted for an interesting pattern as the body of the glove waearable, making a fashionable statement.

id.claudine@gmail.com

61

62

claudine zafra

PROTOTYPING Material choice is important for it would determine whether the user would want to wear this wearable in the first place. I chose polyester and spandex materials that best replicated the look and feel of my mockups, on the left side. I was able to develop my own sewing pattern which allowed me to mix and match material colors and patterns.

id.claudine@gmail.com

63

TRACKING ANXIETY Sweat Sensor: I have incorporated sweat sensor technology on the inside of this wearable, and its main function is to measure if the user is sweating much more than usual. Heart Rate Sensor: The HR sensor I am incorporating is much like the Fitbit HR sensor. There are LEDs that constantly flash to detect volume changes on the skin, and is also bluetootch capable.

SENS SENS is a camellia tea oil diffuser that is for people with fragrance allergies that essentially serves as an air freshener for homes.

69

70

FOR FRAGRANCE ALLERGIES People with fragrance allergies have little-to-no option when dealing with unwanted synthetic fragrances. The most common side effects are headaches, skin rashes, and sneezing. Allergic people can really only avoid fragrances if they really don’t want to be affected. But should their allergies rob them of the joy and benefits of healing fragrances and aromatherapy? It was my mission to design a product that will grant users a natural aromatherapy experience.

id.claudine@gmail.com

71

IDEATION My early ideation consisted of trying to form a solid idea of a tea diffuser. I got inspiration fromo chemist viles, trying to play with the different elements.

72

claudine zafra

FINAL DIRECTION While this direction is not the form I ended up designing, what I used and was inspired of from this is have a removable puck idea for seed cartridges.

id.claudine@gmail.com

73

BRANDING Trying to view this product as a whole, I proposed some packaging and interface design. I drew inspiration for my color choices from the organic lifestyle movement that is trending. Light, airy colors, combined with simple compositions communicate how the product can make potential consumers feel. I attempted to design the main package the diffuser could come in, refill bottles of camellia oil, and even packaging for extra seed pucks. As for the interface design, I can envision how SENS could grow by allowing the user to control, through a mobile application, the use percentage. Potentially, I can see this product have the capabilities of home products such as NEST, having the option for activation through apps.

SEEK SEEK is an accessory waistpack and crossbody designed to help geologists efficiently gather samples and take notes during their in-field trekking voyages.

81

82

WHAT DO GEOLOGISTS NEED FOR ON-THE-FIELD EXPEDITIONS Geologists need a number of things during their research expeditions. Currently, they are limited to hiking gear, paint buckets, and plastic bags for sampling. Geologists heavily depend on the samples they collect for their research, and they usually collect several rockes that add up in weight very fast. I would like to find a way for researchers to have gear specifically made for them to bring their samples in. This could help solve their difficulty of heavy luggage and smushing their gear inside their backpacks.

id.claudine@gmail.com

83

IDEATION Selecting the right materials is key in the comfort, durability, and aesthetic of a soft good product. It was my initial intent to find offbeat ways for sample storage features.

84

claudine zafra

FINAL DIRECTION Going into my final ideation phase, I decided to go with the waistpack concept that features a pull-out sample bag.

id.claudine@gmail.com

85

86

claudine zafra

MATERIALS & PROCESS Selecting the right materials is key in the comfort, durability, and aesthetic of a soft good product. I chose a black cordura polyester, duck canvas behind a nylonmesh for pockets, and a vinyl coated screening for the sample bag for high durability of heavy samples. The color black is a strong unisex color and served as a great neutral canvas to apply color. I decided to use orange and green accents.

POD POD is an automated transit network transportation design for a capillary transit system. This atn is for transporting people closer to their destinations.

93

94

claudine zafra

WHAT WILL GET PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR CARS? As my team and I brainstormed on how we can design a cabin for the ATN, we started thinking about what would first get a user’s interest; design. The next question we asked was, “what will get users to keep taking the ATNs?” Users preferred privacy when traveling alone and would like more comfortable interior. We saw an opportunity for cabin design from this particular survey outcome. If people could feel comfortable in a public commute, combined with the ATN’s design to deliver you closer to your stop, would be what could make the pod care highly successful.

id.claudine@gmail.com

95

IDEATION A friendly design was our team’s goal to help draw users in. I played with a lot of bubbly forms that balanced with a directional intent

96

claudine zafra

PERSONAL FINAL For my personal final direction, I proposed a refined bulbous shape that tapers in the front.

id.claudine@gmail.com

97

TEAM VOTE Here are my team’s individual final designs. In order for us to choose a design to build into full scale, we decided to put it to a vote, exercising democracy with a twist. Each of us had 3 post-its, each post it with a word: safe, modern, and comfortable. We had 3 rounds of voting, each round according to our aesthetic goal. We all agreed that whichever design receives the most stickies will be the chosen design. As a team, we ended up voting for the round cabin design because we all felt that it is the shape that will really captivate people’s attention, while feeling safe.

THE BUILD We built our model from the ground up, starting with a stable frame, building the exterior skeleton, attaching the roof, the walls, and even the interior furniture and other features. My group had a great mix of skills, from knowledge in building, solidworks, interior design, and leadership and communication skills; we got along very well which became our recipe to having such a successful team chemistry.
