TEACHERS AND STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT DIGITAL STORIES The professional development for the teachers at the Clay Center. We used the center to create stories to introduce each other and learn to teach students to use the iPad apps that create digital stories.

WAHAMA HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT AT WAHAMA The Romanian students visit classrooms with the Wahama High School students and share some of the Romanian culture as they prepare for the concert. Students enjoy a joint concert with the Romanian and Appalachian musicians.

THE GOVERNOR AND FIRST LADY OF WEST VIRGINIA The Romanian team spend some time visiting with the Governor and First Lady of West Virginia.

MASTER CLASS AT DAVIS & ELKINS The Appalachian Ensemble at Davis & Elkins share their folk music and dancing with the Romanian team. Then they learn about Romanian folk culture.

NEW FRIENDS IN WEST VIRGINIA The Sobieski/Zelaska family hosted the Romanian team for dinner to share some music and some fun.

PUBLIC CONCERT
BROWN BAG LUNCH CONCERT In a Partnership with the Charleston Area Alliance, the Romanian musicians and students, the West Virginia Appalachian musicians and the Davis & Elkins Appalachian Ensemble presented a 2 hour lunch time concert in the Charleston Town Center Mall. 35

A VISIT TO WEST VIRGINIA ISN’T COMPLETE UNTIL YOU TOUR TAMARACK AND THE NEW RIVER GORGE On a foggy Saturday morning we went to Tamarack and then the New River Gorge.

THE BLACK WALNUT BAND FESTIVAL
WAHAMA BAND AT THE FESTIVAL After a day of fun at the Gorge we joined our friends in the Wahama High School Band for the marching band competition at the Spencer Black Walnut Festival. 45

FAREWELL RECEPTIONS
TWIGGER-SHAW AND SOBIESKI/ ZELASKA RECEPTIONS One of the Clay Center Board members, Gayle Twigger-Shaw, hosted a farewell reception for our visitors with a selection of traditional Appalachian foods. The Sobieski/Zelaska family also said goodbye with a fun, informal lunch.

Our next get-together will be in April 2015 when the Clay Center representatives, Wahama High School teachers and selected students travel to Romania to continue our adventures.
