Nobody reads ads. People read what interest them. Sometimes it's an ad.

Promoted publications are AdPages ads, which we place top tier in the sidebar based on categorical demand. In this case, a premium car catalogue is placed at a reader who searched for “cars” and “travel”.

Keyword targeting is our Dewey Decimal System. Our library is incredibly deep - our digital shelves house some 4 million publications. Our clever cross-matching of keywords means that if you know your reader’s interests, we’ll know how to get it to them.

Our Issuu Reader is the key to Issuu’s success. It’s the fastest, prettiest, smoothest reader out there. Publishers and award committees alike agree that we’ve struck gold with this one.

Glossary
Making a great ad
There’s a few knobs to set and levers to pull before your first ad appears. Here’s a handy glossary to navigate your way through setting up your first ad. You’ll have the knack of it in no time!
Ad design Each ad is built up of three small blocks. Ad Title is a headline, usually the name of your publication. Ad Body is a short descriptive text. Ad Image is a cover shot or other image taken from your publication. Create multiple ads, mixing up these three features, to test what performs the best! Campaigns vs Ads In the traditional sense, a campaign is a pointed effort to achieve a set goal. In AdPages, that means promoting your chosen document. An ad is your campaign tool. Create multiple ads for the same document, and slot them all under one campaign.

Topcis & Placements When you create an ad, you must define topics (keywords) to help Issuu place your ad. The more precise you are, the more relevant your ad. Issuu will estimate placements based on your topics. Remember, we don’t charge you for placements. Pay Per Reader Tell us what a reader is worth to you, in dollars and cents. Each time someone reads your stuff, we’ll charge you this price per read. We never charge for the amount of placements, so you’ll only pay if somebody clicks, opens, and reads your document.
Max Bid What’s the absolute most you’ll pay for a reader? Got your answer? That’s your max bid. It’s your maximum price per reader. We will never charge you more than your max bid, though we may charge you less. You compete for placement in the three promoted slots in our sidebar. If some guy offers 50 cents per read from music readers, and you’ll give $1, we’ll charge you just over 50 cents to win that placement. Schedule You’re welcome to schedule what time of day your ads circulate. It’s a handy way to control your spending and influence. Create multiple ads and circulate them at different times to measure their effectiveness. You can also opt to run your ads continuously.

Nothing beats a beautiful print when it comes to engaging its reader
Budgets All spending is personalized and flexible. Start by setting up your campaign budget the overall amount you’ll devote to that publication. Next set your daily budget, so you don’t blow everything at once. If you’ve got a small budget try running your campaign for a shorter time with higher daily budgets, instead for a long time with small daily budgets. Terms Of Service We’ve got a hard-as-nails legal document that we call our AdPages Terms of Service. Issuu takes up to 12 hours to approve or reject each ad, based on our Terms. If we reject your ad, you’re welcome to modify it and submit it again.

Glossary
Monitoring your success
The easiest ad platform for tracking new readers and better distribution.
Status Your campaign can slip into various states. Before we approve your ad, it will show as ‘Pending.’ Once you’ve hit your campaign goal or budget limit, it will show as ‘Completed.’ Be especially wary of ‘Suspended’, which probably means your account’s run dry
Daily spending limit This is your daily budget. Once you hit your daily spending limit, we’ll stop showing your ad for that day. Some days, a daily spending limit of 10 dollars might get used up, other days it may not. It depends on what your max bid is, and how that compares to other guys who want the same readers.
Avg. Reading Time We track how much time the average reader spends with your document open. We measure it in seconds.
Finally - a gun for the gunfight

Reads, Placements & Opening Rates A placement is when your ad wins an auction and is placed in our sidebars, according to your targets for topic, location, and language. It’s the number of times someone has the potential of seeing and reading your ad. An read is when someone clicks the ad and opens the document. Your opening rate is your reads per placements ratio.
Ad Spend We keep record of what you’ve spent total on your ad. Your ad spend is the sum of your Price Per Reader.
Avg. PPR This is your average Price Per Reader. It’s what you pay each time somebody clicks, opens and reads your document. It will always be lower than your max bid. The sum of your individual PPRs is your Ad Spend.
