Message from the Sponsor

Welcome to the first prospectus for Pimlico Academy. Future is a charity specifically set up to help transform the life chances of young people through education and to widen opportunities for them. We are delighted to have been chosen by Westminster City Council and the Department for Children, Schools and Families as the sponsor of Pimlico Academy. The Academy will be characterised by an ethos of the highest expectations

for all, where progress and success in academic, vocational, sporting, musical and creative areas is strongly celebrated. Students will be encouraged to develop a keen sense of pride, belonging and self-respect. Excellent teaching and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities will enable students to broaden their horizons, lift their aspirations and understand that there is no limit to what they can achieve.

We have appointed an outstanding leadership team who are dedicated to delivering and developing our vision. I hope that this prospectus offers a glimpse of how excited and determined we are in our mission to create an outstanding Academy in the heart of Westminster.

Jerry Collins Principal Designate

Welcome from Jerry Collins

Every child and every parent will truly matter at our Academy. As Principal Designate I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead the development of what will be an exceptional learning environment in the heart of Westminster. Our aim is to provide all students at the Academy with an outstanding educational experience. Pimlico Academy will be a place where every child looks forward to going to school and is well taught and cared for when they get there. We want it to be a place

where every parent is proud to have their child educated and every parent is encouraged and helped to support their child’s learning. Every child and every parent will truly matter at our Academy. We will offer a wide range of high quality academic and vocational courses and will provide an extensive programme of extended school activities. Our intention is that it will be a place where every child is given the opportunities and support they need to reach their full academic potential and to explore their

interest and abilities in a wide range of non-academic activities. We believe strongly that all students can succeed and we look forward to celebrating their many successes in every aspect of what they do here. I have already had the chance to meet some students, staff and parents and I hope to meet everyone else very soon. If you have any questions about the new Academy please do contact me directly.

A wide range of academic and vocational subjects will be offered at GCSE. The Academy will benefit from the strength of the existing Sixth Form and continue to develop a broad range of Year 12 and 13 courses.

Specialisms The Academy will build on the success of the existing Visual and Performing Arts Specialism and the established tradition of excellence in music. The Academy will develop a further Specialism in History which will be used to help students to develop a sense of pride in their roots and to understand their place in today’s community. The Academy’s location, in the heart of Westminster, offers us the opportunity to make the Arts and History an outstanding, stimulating and enjoyable aspect of our students’ learning and development.
