Peg Piranha Based on the book Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas by Aaron Blabey

Materials: •

Wooden Pegs - Natural – Pack of 24 – 13520

Other materials required include: pencil, scissors, glue and a permanent fine tip marker

CleverPatch ™ Junior Artist Paint is suitable for artists of all ages and can be used on a variety of surfaces.

1. Sketch out a piranha design on paper. Start by sketching a circle with a line through the middle and then add details including a mouth, teeth, eye, fin and tail.

2. Bring your piranha to life using bright coloured paint and a fine tip marker. Allow to dry.

3. Once dry, carefully cut out your piranha and then cut him into two pieces.

4. Glue the pieces to each side of the peg and allow to dry.

5. Test out your piranha to make sure his chomping mouth opens and shuts!

Moon Jumping Cow

Mooooo!

Based on the book The Cow Tripped Over The Moon by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood

Materials: •

Other materials required include: Aluminium foil and glue

CleverPatch™ Junior Artist Paint is water-based, washable and non-toxic.

1. Take your cardboard cow and carefully with scissors, cut off the legs and tail at the body.

2. Reposition the tail and legs to make your cow look like he is flying. Attach with glue.

3. Decorate your cow using paint or markers. Look to our design for inspiration or come up with your own.

4. To create your moon, paint your paper plate turquoise. Allow to dry. Scrunch up pieces of foil to create moon craters. Attach with glue.

5. Cut a strip of cardboard 15cm x 3cm and paint it turquoise. Allow to dry. Attach one end to the centre of your paper plate moon using a paper fastener.

6. Attach your cow to the other end of your cardboard strip with glue. Allow to dry. Your cow is now ready to jump over the moon!

Pet Carrier

Decorate your carrier with stickers and a sign.

Based on the book The Cleo Stories: A Friend and a Pet by Libby Gleeson, illustrated by Freya Blackwood

Materials:

Diorama Box – Pack of 10 – 13069

Other materials required include: Small cork or button, glue and tape

1. Carefully pull out the plastic cover from the inside of the box and discard. Put your box together using glue or tape and cut off one end of your box. This will become the cage door.

2. To create the cage front of your carrier, cut strips of white cardboard and attach them to the inside of your box with tape.

3. To create your carrier’s handle, cut out two identical handle shapes from strong cardboard.

4. Glue the two handles together, leaving 1cm at the bottom of each side. Fold out the areas without glue to create tabs. These tabs will be used to attach the handle to the carrier.

5. Attach the handle to the top of the carrier using glue and tape. Allow to dry.

6. Paint your carrier in bright colours and allow to dry. To create your door, tape the side you cut off at the beginning to the top of the carrier. Attach a small cork or button to the door as a handle. Now load your pet and you are set to go!

Imagine Watercolour Bricks Based on the book Suri’s Wall by, Lucy Estela, illustrated by Matt Ottley

Materials: •

Display your beautiful wall with the heading ‘You could only Imagine’.

We have used watercolour paints but you could also use pencils, markers or photos!

1. Using an A3 piece of white cover paper, paint the entire page with similar tones of watercolour. Allow to dry.

2. To create your bricks, divide the piece of paper evenly into 12 rectangles.

4. Glue some of the bricks flat onto your piece of cardboard. With the remaining bricks, tape the top down so that the brick can be flipped up to reveal what is underneath.

5. Draw or paint images underneath the revealing bricks of things you might like to imagine over your back fence. Now display it for everyone to see what you imagined!

3. Cut out your bricks and lay them out how you would like them to be displayed.

Other materials required include: coloured pencils, scissors, markers and photo’s.

1. Start with a single piece of coloured A4 paper and fold it in half lengthwise.

2. Unfold it and then fold it in half widthwise.

3. Fold each edge back in toward the centre fold to create a zig zag shape.

4. Unfold the last two folds and cut across the folded edge to the centre of the paper.

5. Open up the paper so that it is sitting as seen in the image above.

6. Take hold of the folded paper edge either side of the split and gently pull away and down to create your fan story book.

7. Crease the folds and join together using tape.

8. Cut out eight rectangles of white paper approximately 9.5cm x 6.5cm.

9. Decorate each rectangle using pencils, markers, crayons and photos based on your story, and glue each rectangle onto a page in your story book. Your book is now ready to read!
