3D Iron Bead Tree

Materials:

• Iron Beads Pegboard – Clear – 12758

• Iron Beads Box Pack – 12861

• Iron Beads Ironing Paper – Pack of 10 – 12754

• Other materials required: An iron, ironing board and templates (pages 9-10).

1. Print out the templates on pages 9-10. Place your pegboard on top of one template sheet, aligning the edges of the template with the edges of the pegboard.

2. Fill in the design with iron beads. You can use the template colours as a guide or choose your own colours to create your design.

5. Place the pegboard onto the other template sheet, aligning the edges. Repeat steps 2-4 to create the other half of the tree.

Get creative and design your own Christmas 3D characters!

3. Once the design is laid out, place a sheet of ironing or baking paper over the design. Gently iron the beads in a circular motion for about 40 seconds to fuse the beads together evenly. Try not to iron too much as it could cause your design to sit unevenly when assembled.

6. Check the pieces to ensure that each bead has fused together. You can iron over any spots that may need further melting.

4. Flip the design off the pegboard and cover with ironing paper. Iron this side for about 40 seconds. Allow to cool.

7. Use the slots to carefully slide the two pieces together. Your 3D Iron Bead Tree is now ready to display!

Gingerbread House Decoration

Materials:

• CleverPatch™ Air Dry Modelling Clay – Terracotta 1kg Pack – 18636

• CleverPatch™ Acrylic Paint Tube – White – 75ml – 16886

• CleverPatch™ Fine Glitter – White – 145g Shaker Tub – 15155

• CleverPatch™ Junior PVA Glue – 250ml – 10364

1. Print out the templates on page 11. Cut out each piece.

4. Roll another 350g of clay, along with any remaining clay from step 3, into a ball. Roll the clay flat so it is 1cm thick. Place the tall wall template onto the slab and slice around the shape with a metal rib. Roll the excess back into a ball, roll flat again and create another tall wall.

7. Place the scored edge of the short piece onto the scored surface of the tall piece. Use a wooden modelling tool and your finger with water to smooth the joins on both sides.

• Pottery Tool Kit – Pack of 8 – 17273

• Wooden Rolling Pins – Pack of 4 – 16599

• Other materials required: Scissors, paint brush and templates (page 11).

2. Roll 350g of clay into a ball. Roll the clay flat so it is 1cm thick. Place the short wall and roof template pieces onto the flat clay. Use a metal rib to slice out each piece from the clay. Remove the outer sections of clay and rework them back into a ball.

5. Roll the remaining clay into a flat circle at least 9cm in diameter. This will be used to create the base of your house.

8. Repeat on the other side of the tall wall piece to attach the second short wall piece. Smooth the joins on both sides.

3. Roll the new ball back out into a 1cm thick slab. Place the same templates back onto the slab and cut out the shapes. You should now have two short walls and two roof pieces.

6. Score along one edge of a short wall piece using the needle tool in a cross-hatching motion. Score along the left side of a tall wall piece in the same way. Apply a small amount of water with your finger across the scored surface on both pieces.

9. Score the side edges of the short walls and along the sides of the remaining tall wall and secure together in the same way. Smooth along the joins to create a neat finish.

10. Place the house onto your base and trace around the edge where it touches to give you a guide for scoring. Remove the house and add score marks along the inside of the guide on the base as well as the bottom edges of the house. Apply water along the scored surfaces. Press together and smooth the joins.

13. Use a small amount of water and your finger to smooth the surface of the clay along the edges of the roof and all joined areas. Once you are happy, set it aside to dry for at least 24 hours.

11. Cut away any overhanging clay from the base and smooth the joins. Return any excess clay back into the packet and close tightly for future projects.

14. Paint your house using white paint to resemble white piping on a gingerbread house. You can use our image for inspiration! Paint the roof of your house white. Allow to dry.

12. Score a roof piece where it will connect to the house and the angled edge of the walls then attach by aligning one edge of the roof with the points on the walls. Repeat for the other side of the roof. Use the wooden modelling tool to smooth the top join of the two roof pieces and along the joins of the wall pieces.

15. Apply glue to the roof and sprinkle white glitter over the top. Tip the excess back into the shaker tub for future use. Allow to dry. Your Gingerbread House Decoration is now ready to display!
