Experiment with different colour combinations like contrasting opposite colours or warm and cool colours!
3. Use coloured pencils to add details such as shadows, patterns and texture. Blend colours and use pressure on the pencils to add gradients and shadow effects. You can experiment on a separate sheet of paper to get familiar with the different details you would like to add.
This activity is inspired by ‘August & Jones’ by Pip Harry.
1. Draw a 18 x 26cm rectangle onto white cover paper. Add a wavy line from the top right to the bottom left of the rectangle. The wavy line will become the divide between the two landscapes. Sketch an artwork depicting the landscape of a city on one side and a farm on the other. Alternatively, you can print our template on page 9 onto white cover paper.
4. If you have drawn your own design, trace around the outlines using a black pen. You can also use the pen to add more details to your artwork such as hatching or dots.
2. Decide on a colour theme for your artwork and the different scenes represented. Decorate your drawing or template using watercolour paint. We have chosen light, bright colours for the farm scene and darker tones for the city scene. Allow to dry.
5. Cut out your artwork and glue to a sheet of black cardboard. The black frame will bring out any bright contrasting colours used. Allow to dry. Your City & Farm Contrast Artwork is now ready to display!

• CleverPatch™ Coloured Pencils – Pack of 12 – 20770
• Metal Keyring with Snap Hook – Pack of 10 – 19054

• Other materials required: Photo of your family, pencil, scissors, oven, oven tray and baking paper.
This activity is inspired by ‘My Strange Shrinking Parents’ by Zeno Sworder.
1. Print out a standard size photo of your family. Make sure the photo is relatively close-up to ensure the best results.
The snap hook makes your design perfect to use as a bag tag!
2. Place a sheet of shrink film shiny side down onto your photo. Trace around the basic details such as the shape of each person and some facial details using a pencil. Try to simplify the design to avoid too many details blending together!
3. Colour in the design on your shrink film with coloured pencils. Use a black pencil to add a border and outline your design.
CleverTip: Use your creativity to add a fancy border. You could also add your family name or the names of your family members!
4. Cut out your shrink design, making sure to cut curved corners to avoid any sharp edges. Use a hole punch to add a hole for your keyring.
5. Follow the instructions included with your shrink film to bake your design. Allow to cool completely.
6. Attach the split ring to the hole in your shrink design. Your Shrink Family Keyring is now ready to use!

• Double Sided Tape – 6mm x 50m Roll – 19162

You could choose your favourite letter of the alphabet and include sea creatures beginning with that letter to appear in your reef scene!
1. Print out the templates on pages 11-12 onto white cardboard. You could also draw your own creatures to add to your reef scene if you wish!
4. Paint both sides of your diorama box light blue. To give your box an underwater effect, make horizontal brush strokes from one side to the other. Allow to dry.
2. Decorate the templates and your extra designs using watercolour paint. You can be as creative as you like with blending and layering colours! Allow to dry between layers. Try to use colours that blend nicely to avoid any muddy mixtures.
3. Cut out the template pieces and any other designs you have drawn. We have included a grey border around the template pieces for simpler cutting if needed. Mountain fold the tabs on the back layer template piece along the dotted lines.
5. Mix equal parts of white and light blue paint. On the top of the inside back panel, paint thick strokes coming out from the top centre of the panel using the paint mixture. These strokes will become sun rays beaming down into your underwater scene. Allow to dry.
DID YOU KNOW?
6. Assemble your diorama box by folding along all the creases. Use double sided tape to secure the top flap onto the back panel. Tape the sides of the box together by folding in the smaller tabs first, then the back and front tabs.
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef system on Earth. You can even see it from space!
7. Use double sided tape to attach the tabs of the back layer template piece to the internal sides of the diorama box, so it is positioned about 2cm from the back panel.
8. Use double sided tape to attach the front layer template piece to the front of the box along the bottom. Align the edges of the template with the edges of the box.
9. Cut three pieces of wire in the following lengths: 22cm, 20cm and 9cm. Use sticky tape to attach the 22cm length to the back of the clownfish. Attach the 20cm length to the back of the yellow tang fish and the 9cm length to the back of the school of fish.
11. Insert the bottom of the clownfish wire into the hole on the left. Bend the end of the wire to sit flat with the bottom of the box. Cover the end of the wire with sticky tape to secure. Use a small amount of tape to attach the wire to the back of the back layer template to secure in place.
12. Insert the yellow tang fish in the hole on the right of your diorama box. Secure the wire in place using tape. Add the school of fish in the remaining hole of the diorama box. Tape in place to secure. Bend the wire to position each fish to your liking.
10. Use a sharp pencil to create a hole through the bottom of the box 5cm from the left and 1cm from the back. Push another hole 6cm from the right and 1cm from the back. Push a third hole 3.5cm from the front, in the centre of the box.
13. Use double sided tape to secure the hermit crab to the front of the box. Your Reef Diorama is now ready to display!
Pressed Flower Tealight
Materials:
• Flower Pressing Kit – 12395
• Hanging Glass Jar – 15201
• CleverPatch™ Gloss Finish 240ml – 18797
• Battery LED Tealight Candles Pack of 12 – 18915
• Jute Twine – Thick 140 Metres – 14275
• Other materials required: Flowers and leaves, scissors, pencil, ruler and paint brush.
1. Gather a selection of small flowers and leaves (no bigger than 7cm in diameter) from your garden. Ensure you have permission before picking any flowers! Trim the leaves and flowers to remove the stems.
4. Continue layering your flowers and leaves between sheets of paper and cardboard. Place the top wooden piece onto the stack of cardboard and paper containing your flowers and leaves. Ensure everything is aligned.
7. Apply a coat of gloss finish to the inside wall of the glass jar. Carefully arrange the pressed flowers and leaves by pushing them onto the gloss finish. You can use the end of a pencil to help push them onto the bottom part of the jar. Allow to dry.
This activity is inspired by ‘Tiny Wonders’ by Sally Soweol Han.
2. Open your flower pressing kit so you have the two wooden pieces side-by-side. Lay a cardboard square onto the bottom wooden piece. Lay a paper sheet on top, then place down your flowers or leaves so they are evenly spaced.
5. Screw the nuts and bolts into the corner holes. Tighten one corner slightly, then tighten the opposite corner. Once all screws are slightly tightened, finish tightening each screw until they are completely secure.
8. Carefully add a second coat of gloss finish over the flowers and leaves. Allow to dry.
3. Place a paper sheet on top of your flowers or leaves followed by another cardboard square.
6. Leave to press for at least 24 hours. Open your flower pressing kit by loosening all the screws to check if the flowers are dried. If they are still wet, you may need to leave them for an extra day or two. Once they are dry, you can carefully remove them.
9. Cut a 80cm length of jute twine and wrap it around the top of the jar twice. Tie a bow to create a nice finish. Turn on your LED tealight candle and place it into the jar. Your Pressed Flower Tealight is now ready to hang!
