CleverPatch™ Fabric Markers Pack of 10 – 14929

Iron (Adult supervision required)

When Dad’s done cooking, he can flip his apron around and it becomes a cape!

1. It’s best to pre-wash your apron before you start to decorate it. Allow to dry. Firstly, iron the apron so you have a nice smooth surface to work on (make sure an adult helps with the ironing).

2. Sketch your design onto a piece of paper before you begin. Once you have a design, transfer it lightly onto your apron using a pencil.

3. Use fabric markers to draw over your design on your apron. Allow to dry.

4. To heat set your design, iron the reverse side of your apron using a low heat setting for 4 minutes (make sure an adult helps with the ironing). Now it’s ready to wear! 1

Cardboard Greeting Cards White – Pack of 20 – 10609

CleverPatch™ Junior Artist Paint – 500ml – Set of 11 Colours – 15800

Watercolour Disc Set – Pack of 18 – 14470

CleverPatch™ Triangular Fineliners – Black – Pack of 10 16533

This Father’s Day you can show Dad how far your love for him stretches.

1. Create 4 evenly spaced folds in your card as shown. It is important that these folds are equal.

2. Flip your card over and press down on the folds so that the creases are crisp. Your card should sit in a portrait layout, with the middle strip of the card being a whole piece.

3. Use a pencil to draw your design while the card is still folded. This way, you can be sure that all of the illustrations and words sit in the right place.

4. Unfold your card and connect the gaps on the arms of your illustration.

5. Paint your design with bright colours. Allow to dry.

6. Finally, use a black fineliner to outline your design and write your message on the card. You are now ready for Father’s Day!

Stencilled Porcelain Mug Materials: •

Porcelain Mug – Pack of 24 – 12701

CleverPatch™ Glass & Porcelain Markers – Pack of 8 Colours – 13649

Book Covering Self-Adhesive – 33cm x 20m 12274

Toothpick

Glove

Scissors

Use this technique to create different kinds of stencils and decorate a mug for Dad...

1. Using the template provided (see page 7), glue this to a rectangular piece of contact, approximately 12cm x 9cm. Cut out your design as shown.

2. Peel the backing from your stencil. Starting on one side, place your contact stencil onto your mug. Flatten the contact onto your mug as you pull the paper backing away.

3. Using a glove to protect your skin, scribble porcelain marker onto your mug inside the cut-out stencil design and using your finger carefully blot the marker ink all over your image. This gives a great texturised design.

How to set your design Once dry, place your mug in a COLD household oven. Once the temperature has reached 160°C, bake your mug for 90 minutes to heat set your design.

4. Remove the contact stencil and use a toothpick to remove any unwanted colour, which may have gone onto your mug. You can also use the toothpick to scratch detail onto your design.

5. Add colour and words to your design using your markers. Allow to dry for a minimum of 24 hours, then bake according to the directions here Once set it is ready for wrapping!

Remember when baking your porcelain mug, DO NOT pre-heat the oven. The difference in temperature may cause your porcelain mug to crack. Instead, put your porcelain mug in a cold oven, then turn the oven on. Visit our Glass & Porcelain Tips and Techniques online for more information. Adult supervision required. 3

Hot Glue Gun

Sticky Tape

Scissors

PVA Glue

Aye aye captain! Keep that desk clean with this ultra cute boat desk organiser!

5. Attach the cardboard rolls and popsticks to your boat as shown. We used a hot glue gun to attach these components as it offered a fast adhesion, but PVA glue or tape would work well too.

1. Using the template provided (see page 7), cut out the boat base onto white cardboard. Also cut long strips of cardboard (4cm wide). The length of the strips will vary, depending on how many compartments you create in your boat.

2. Use sticky tape to attach the strips to the outside of your boat base, creating walls. Trim your strips to size and create compartments within your boat. Attach with tape.

3. Give your boat a coat of brown paint and paint some cardboard rolls black for smoke stacks. Allow to dry.

4. Cut approximately 30 popsticks in half. These will form the sides of your boat.

6. Personalise your boat just for Dad by creating a flag for your desk tidy. We added colour to our flag with watercolour paint, and detail using a black fineliner. Allow to dry.

7. Push a skewer through the edge of the flag to create a flag pole. Attach the flag pole to the inside of one of the cardboard rolls. Attach with glue. Your boat is ready to set sail!
