Cardboard Roll Nativity Materials:
A fun activity to create and then play!

Nativity Character Template (pg 7-11)

Other Materials Required: Scissors & paint brushes. You could also use markers or pencils instead of paint if you wish.
1. Print your nativity templates onto cover paper. Cut them out and attach them to your cardboard rolls with glue. Allow to dry. CLEVER TIP: If you are using pencils or markers to decorate, we suggest colouring in the images before gluing them onto your rolls. © CleverPatch 2017 - www.cleverpatch.com.au
2. Attach your angel’s wings and shepherds staff with glue as you glue the templates on to the cardboard rolls.
3. Carefully paint your characters and allow them to dry. CLEVER TIP: After the paint dries we suggest tracing over some of your characters features with a black marker to add detail.

Other Materials Required: Star Cookie Cutter, Rolling Pin, Mod Podge & Scissors.
Brighten up your tree with a heart warming message on your handmade clay star!
1. Knead some clay in your hands to soften it, making it easier to work with. Using a rolling pin, roll out the clay onto your protected surface to a thickness of approximately 1cm.
2. Using your cookie cutter, carefully cut out star shapes from your clay. You could also trace around a paper template or freehand a star shape. Push a hole through the top point of your stars using a wooden skewer to create a hole for hanging.
4. Once your stars are completely dry, paint each star point with PVA and sprinkle with glitter. Allow to dry.
5. Finally, thread some raffia through the hole at the top of your star and tie the ends together. Your star is now ready to hang on your tree.

3. Using stamps or freehand, create words on your stars. We have chosen Love, Joy, Peace and Hope. Allow your stars to dry CLEVER TIP: Air drying clay will take approximately 48 hours to dry. Rotate the clay every 12 hours to ensure it dries evenly.
CLEVER TIP: You may like to give your stars a coat of mod podge to protect the surface and to keep the glitter on. 4

A fun and memorable way to learn about the Christmas story!
1. Sketch some designs onto paper first. We have used the following images: Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Donkey, stable, innkeeper, shepherds, wise men, star, sheep and angel.
2. Carefully paint or draw your designs onto the stones using paint or paint markers. Allow to dry.
3. Coat your stones with PVA or mod podge to protect your images. Use the stones to tell the nativity story.
Feel free to use our simple images or come up with your own designs!

These simple string art designs have beautiful results!
1. Paint your string art board black and allow to dry. Print, cut out and place your template onto your piece of board.
3. Hold your template in place and begin to hammer nails along your design, spacing them evenly. The more nails, the more detailed your image will become.
5. Tie the end of your string to one of the nails and secure with a double knot. Wrap your thread around all of your nails filling the space completely.
7. Once you are happy with your design, tie the remaining loose thread to a nail and secure with a double knot. Trim excess and your work of art is complete!

4. Once all your nails are in place, carefully rip the template off.
