Patients are walking through your practice everyday and are coming to see you for their dental healthcare this means they are interested and motivated to look after their teeth. You need to have a system to educate them whilst they walk through your practice. You should have a TV loop you should have posters you should have simple pop-up banners which allow people to think about the benefits of straightening their teeth. The adverts should ask a question which has a benefit for them such as did you know you can get straight teeth in 6 months ask your dentist how. Or crooked teeth are more prone to cavities and gum disease. Ask if you can get straight teeth in 6months.

MISTAKE 2: NO SYSTEMATIC EDUCATION & NURTURE SYSTEM FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN STRAIGHTENING THEIR TEETH IN THE FUTURE BUT NOT NOW.

Patients that are thinking of straightening their teeth do not decide straightaway to do so. It is a decision process it takes some time, they need to become aware of the fact they have crooked teeth and to see the problem is that it is becoming worse, see their teeth become more crooked and you need to constantly keep in touch. This means you have to have a way to keep in touch with the patient longterm and slowly and gently reinforce the message about the benefits of straight teeth

No way to keep in contact No way to educate them of benefits No way to stay in touch for the long term.

If you have no way to systematically communicate the fact that you straighten teeth across the Internet and across your local community. Then think you’re not going to get many new patients because you need to make sure you spread your message to people that are interested in doing that he straightened. These days people’s attention is very fragmented they are on Facebook they are on a mobile phone they are in the email inbox there on Google doing all these new places they read magazines they are on the tube and they are looking and thinking in the head of solutions so if you don’t have a way of showing up in front of them in Google on Facebook on YouTube and you’re gonna be unlikely to go to attract new people to your practice.

MISTAKE 3: NO INTEGRATED TRAFFIC STRATEGIES OR EXTERNAL MARKETING FOR STRAIGHT TEETH PATIENTS

MISTAKE 4: NO SYSTEMATIC FREE CONSULT ASSESSMENT Many people when they’re looking to get the teeth straightened want to know all of their options and it’s very important to be able to understand exactly what somebody wants to change when you say I want straight teeth and to be able to go to through all the different options available to them in your consultation in a smooth and compelling way. If you only ever have one option that you recommend then they will always feel like you’re selling them something as everybody cannot be a 6 month smile patient nor can everybody cannot be an invisalign or inman aligner patient. You need to have a way to go through all the options with somebody and explain that.

No way to identify high risk patients No way to frame and understand their needs Do you control the conversation through a systematic assessment or do you make it up each time? No way to overcome objections in your assessment before they’re raised. No trust factors / social proof No clear explanation and discussion of comprehensive vs aesthetic ortho.

So if you got a marketing system which attracts people to come and see you for a free consultation you need to have a system to follow up with them after their consultation, as most people are potentially open to straightening their teeth but not necessarily straightening them right now as they may have other life events going on. Such as car expenses if their car broke down or they may have no time as they have professional exams coming up or they are very busy at work with deadlines and commitments right now. You need a way that you can keep in touch with them and follow them up over the longer term with the benefits of what you offer. If you don’t have this system then you’ve wasted a lot of your effort. We have often found that we have people that came for free consult with us 5-6 months ago and then choose to go ahead now because the time became right for them in their life. If we didn’t have a way to keep in touch with these people they would then have started looking potentially elsewhere for the different options and we would’ve wasted our marketing investment so without having a structured system to follow up with consultations afterwards you will be losing braces cases.
