Το σύμπλεγμα των λιμνών Βεγορίτιδας, Ζάζαρης, Πετρών και Χειμαδίτιδας αναδεικνύει το φυσικό περιβάλλον του Δήμου Αμυνταίου με την πλούσια χλωρίδα και πανίδα. Οι τέσσερις λίμνες έχουν χαρακτηρισθεί ως Προστατευόμενες Περιοχές Κοινοτικού Ενδιαφέροντος στο Ευρωπαϊκό Οικολογικό Δίκτυο Natura 2000.

Λίμνη Βεγορίτιδα: Σημαντικός βιότοπος με αρκετά σπάνια είδη, όπως οι αργυροπελεκάνοι, οι ροδοπελεκάνοι, οι λαγγόνες και οι βαλτόπαπιες.

Nature And Ecology

The natural environment of the Municipality of Amyntaio is highlighted by the complex of lakes Vegoritis, Zazari, Petres and Cheimaditida, with their rich flora and fauna. The four lakes have been designated as Protected Areas of Community Interest within the European Ecological Network Natura 2000.

Lake Vegoritis: An important habitat with numerous rare species, such as Dalmatian pelicans, white pelicans, pygmy cormorants and ferruginous ducks.
