ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑ Κανείς δε γνωρίζει με βεβαιότητα το έτος ιδρύσεως της Δεσκάτης. Το μόνο βέβαιο είναι ότι η περιοχή ανήκε στην αρχαία Μονδαία και ότι κατά τον 12ο αιώνα υπήρχαν τρεις οικισμοί, το Μέλοβο, η Καρίτσα και το Λουτρό. History

The founding year of Deskati is not clearly known. One thing which is certain is that the area belonged to ancient Mondaia and that three settlements existed here during the 12th century, Melovo, Karitsa and Loutro. Subsequently, the number of settlements in the area increased to fourteen, all centered around Deskati due to its geographical location. However, according to excavations, the site of Potamia at Deskati had already been inhabited since the Neolithic era (5000 B.C.). The region fell into the hands of the Turks in 1393. In the period that followed, the region was plagued by famine, epidemics and raids by Albanians, until it was liberated by the Turks in October 1912, at the beginning of the First Balkan War. Deskati was a stronghold of the National Resistance and played an active role during the Civil War.
