Φωτιές: Την Παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων και της Πρωτοχρονιάς σε όλα τα υψώματα των μαχαλάδων της πόλης ανάβονται φωτιές που διατηρούνται αναμμένες μέχρι τις πρώτες πρωινές ώρες, όταν θα ξεκινήσουν τα κάλαντα. Νικητής είναι ο μαχαλάς που θα καταφέρει να ανάψει τη μεγαλύτερη και με μεγαλύτερη διάρκεια φωτιά.

Κυριαλέησον: Ανήμερα των Θεοφανίων, λίγο πριν ξημερώσει, οι νέοι του χωριού παραλαμβάνουν από την εκκλησία της Αγίας Τριάδας Καρπερού τον Σταυρό, την εικόνα της Βάπτισης αλλά και εικόνες αγίων.

Αφού χωριστούν σε δύο ομάδες, γυρνούν στους αγρούς και τα χωράφια για να «τα αγιάσουν», ενώ περνούν από τα ποιμνιοστάσια και απ’ όλα τα ξωκκλήσια του χωριού.

Κωνσταντίνεια: Πολιτιστικές και αθλητικές εκδηλώσεις στο πλαίσιο εορτασμού των πολιούχων Αγίων Κωνσταντίνου και Ελένης.

Μεγάλο Παζάρι: Στα μέσα Ιουνίου κάθε έτους γίνεται η έναρξη του Μεγάλου

Bonfires: On Christmas and New Year’s Eve, bonfires are lit on all high grounds of the city neighborhoods and they are kept burning until the early hours of the morning, when the carols begin. The winner is the neighborhood that will manage to light the biggest and longest-burning fire.

Kyrialeison: On Epiphany Day, just before dawn, the young people of the village receive from the Church of the Holy Trinity at Karperos the Cross, the Baptism icon and icons of other Saints. They are divided in two groups and are wandering in the fields in order to sanctify them, while also passing by the sheepfolds and all the chapels of the village.

Constantineia: Cultural and sports events within the context of celebrating the patron Saints Constantine and Helen.

Great Bazaar: The Great Bazaar begins in the middle of June, every year. It is a trade fair with the participation of merchants from all over the Region.

3. Το έθιμο της Ανδρομάνας είναι ένα σπάνιο έθιμο με το οποίο οι κάτοικοι της Δεσκάτης αποχαιρετούν το Πάσχα ανήμερα της γιορτής της Ζωοδόχου Πηγής.

3. With the unique custom of “Andromana” on the day of the celebration of Zoodochos Pigi (Life-giving Spring), the city dwellers say farewell to Easter.

Ξεπροβόδισμα της Πασχαλιάς (Ανδρομάνα): Ένα από τα πιο γνωστά Πασχαλιάτικα έθιμα της Ελλάδας είναι η Ανδρομάνα της Δεσκάτης. Την Παρασκευή μετά το Πάσχα (τη μέρα που γιορτάζεται η Ζωοδόχος Πηγή), όλοι οι Δεσκατιώτες, μόνιμοι κάτοικοι και ετεροδημότες, συγκεντρώνονται στην κεντρική πλατεία της Δεσκάτης και στήνουν τον Πασχαλιάτικο χορό, ο οποίος συνοδεύεται από τραγούδια τελετουργικού χαρακτήρα.

Ο Πασχαλιάτικος χορός τελειώνει με το τραγούδι του ξεπροβοδίσματος της Πασχαλιάς:

«Ώρα καλή Πασχαλιά κι πίσου να γυρίσεις όπους μας άφ’κις να μας βρεις κι ακόμα κι καλύτιρα...»

Ταυτόχρονα στήνεται και η Ανδρομάνα: Έξι άνδρες πιάνονται κυκλικά από τους ώμους και πάνω τους ανεβαίνουν άλλοι πέντε. Ύστερα στην πεντάδα, προστίθενται άλλοι τρεις και έτσι, με αυτό το δρώμενο κλείνει ο κύκλος του Πάσχα στη Δεσκάτη. Το έθιμο της Ανδρομάνας έχει τις ρίζες του σε

Farewell to Paschalia (Andromana): One of Greece’s most famous Easter customs is the Andromana in Deskati. On the Friday after Easter (when the day Zoodochos Pigi is celebrated), all the people of Deskati, permanent residents as well as non-residents, gather in the central square of Deskati and set up the Easter dance, which is accompanied by songs of a ritualistic nature.

The Easter dance ends with the “Farewell to Easter“ song:

“Farewell Paschalia and come back to find us again just like you left us and even better…“

At the same time the human pyramid (Αndromana) is formed: Six men grab each other by the shoulders and form a circle and five others climb on top of them. Later, three more are added to the five; thus, with this event, the cycle of Easter in Deskati comes to an end. The custom of Andromana has its roots in ancient ceremonies related to fertility and the vegetation of nature during the spring.

For the people of Deskati, this event is extremely important, which is why they actively participate and continue it uninterruptedly for centuries.

Μπούρμπουλος: Η έναρξη των Αποκριών γίνεται από την Τσικνοπέμπτη με οργανωμένες ομάδες μεταμφιεσμένων, που περιφέρονται στους δρό- μους της πόλης πειράζοντας περαστικούς και θαμώνες. Οι εκδηλώσεις κορυφώνονται την τελευταία Κυριακή της Αποκριάς με το κάψιμο του

Καρνάβαλου-Μπούρμπουλου.

Εορτασμός Προφήτη Ηλία: Καβαλάρηδες τιμούν τον άγιο ανήμερα της γιορτής του. Οι αναβάτες με τα στολισμένα άλογα ανηφορίζουν προς το ξωκκλήσι για να προσκυνήσουν την εικόνα του Προφήτη Ηλία.

Run Deskati: Πανελλήνιο πρωτάθλημα ορεινού δρόμου που διοργανώνεται κάθε άνοιξη στο πλαίσιο των «Κωνσταντίνειων».

Πολιτιστικός Αύγουστος - «Ζάβορδα»: Κάθε Αύγουστο ο Δήμος οργανώνει πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις με θεατρικά έργα, συναυλίες και διάφορα πολιτιστικά δρώμενα. Στις εκδηλώσεις δόθηκε η ονομασία Ζάβορδα προς τιμή του μοναστηρίου της Ζάβορδας.

Bourboulos: Tsiknopempti (Smoked Thursday) signals the beggining of the Carnival with organized groups wearing costumes who roam the city streets, teasing the passers-by. The events reach their peak on the last Sunday of the Carnival with the burning of the Carnival King, also known as “Bourboulos”.

Celebration of Prophet Elias: The saint is honored on his feast day by men riding horses. They stride on their embellished horses up to the chapel to kneel before the icon of the Prophet Elias.

Run Deskati: A Pan-Hellenic mountain road championship organized every spring in the context of the “Constantineia” events.

Cultural August - “Zavorda”: Each August, the Municipality organizes cultural events with plays, concerts and various cultural activities. This festival was named Zavorda in honor of the Zavorda monastery.

Togetherness (Antamoma): The Municipality of Deskati launched this initiative in 2005, aiming to bring together people originating from Deskati. This custom is revived in Deskati every four years.
