By Sheila Udman On Thursday, March 17th, four members of our club met with seven members of the Sherwood High School Key Club for a clean-up project at the school. After procuring bags, gloves and grabbers, we all set out to clean up one of the school parking lots, and surrounding areas. After an hour or two of hard work, we all gathered back together to collect our several bags of trash; and we enjoyed some yummy St. Patrick’s Day treats to end our day.

By Marlene Wilson As Sherwood High School begins its third trimester, and the end of the school year approaches, we are preparing for our new officers. Our elections have already begun, and our voting process will be starting very soon. A couple of our current officers are interested in running next year as well, which is great that we can have some leaders who have already had experience on the officer team. This year, in general, was a hugely thought-provoking experience for both me, personally, and our club as-a-whole. Covid 19 challenged us to restructure almost everything; and in the end, I think we came out better. We were able to find opportunities for service that we had never considered before. We rekindled a volunteer relationship with the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge; and we were able to bring our club membership from an empty Zoom meeting to a bustling, crowded room. I am glad that we have kept our long-time tradition of having cookies at our meetings; and I am also happy that this year, we have introduced monthly raffles and will be having an end of the year raffle basket drawing! I have always been attracted to Key Club’s warm atmosphere that encourages genuine volunteering over just collecting hours for attractive scholarships. When I graduate this year and continue my education at PCC, I am certain that my relationship with the Kiwanis organization will also continue to grow. I hope to encourage this enthusiasm for Kiwanis service with our Key Club members until my term ends in a couple months!
