LTG Letter Hello Region 15! Are you all ready for summer to end? Well, I sure am not. But before summer can end, we have a few upcoming division events. Please use the last few weeks of summer vacation to plan for the upcoming school year. Think about club rush and how you can gain new members. I am beyond excited to see how your clubs thrive during this school year. Also, remember to begin fundraising for the Pediatric Trauma Program. We will be turning in our money raised for PTP during Fall Rally North. As always, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me anytime! CALENDAR THE LOW-DOWN AUGUST

JULY

RECOGNITION Member of the Month Debbie Gonzalez Debbie always manages to put on a smile during any event she has also devoted a lot of her time to doing service throughout this summer regardless if it was with her club or the division.

Officer of the Month

Faculty of the Month Sue Cummins Sue Cummins spent a week in San Antonio, Texas taking care of a six person group. In order to go to this trip, she volunteered her time and money. After she got back to California, she made sure all the supplies that were needed for the July DCM were available.

Thea Zalunardo-Montgomery Thea has been volunteering forty hours a week all summer with kids. Also, she continuously works hard to ensure she is being the best Vice President she can be.

Club of the Month Coverdale The Cloverdale Key Club has worked hard planning the July DCM, making sure a bunch of fun activities were planned.

Kiwanian of the Month Robin Trejo Villa Robin continuously engages with Key Clubbers at every event she attends. Not only is she supportive of the Windsor High School Key Club and what they do, but she also drove them to the July DCM.

Food Bank Day BY: ANDREA M. ROMERO|PINER Some might think a club is only active during the school year, Key Club proves that wrong. The officers of Piner Key Club have been planning many volunteering opportunities for the members. On Saturday, July 8, members helped at the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Starting early in the morning at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. members helped pack food boxes for the elderly. Some also helped pack and distribute bread. Piner Key Club had a fun time at the Food Bank while getting in some hours!

Service and ICON BY: DANAYEAT ABRAHA|MONTGOMERY This moth was packed with service for the Montgomery High School Key Club! We continue to go to the Central Library every Monday and Friday to hand out free lunches to kids! Our Club also had 8 members attend the June DCM and some even helped throw color during the color run! Last, but not least we had three members attend ICON, me being one of them! It was truly an experience like no other. Not only did I get to meet so many new faces from all across our district, but I got to experience pin trading from around the world and sit through engaging workshops and now have all this new knowledge I can bring back to my club and division! Overall, this month has been one of the best so far!

Racing Our Way Through June BY: SOLARA BARRIE|SANTA ROSA Our club attended the June DCM, volunteered at a rest stop for the Giro Bello Bike Race, and participated in the Color Run. The Giro Bello Bike Race was a day filled with community fun as our members helped set up and enjoyed some fun in the sun. On June 27th, the officers met on a summer afternoon to discuss next year's club events that will be taking place. We discussed strategies to get more members, and how to include incoming freshman as well as ideas to fundraise for the Eliminate Project. Overall, it was a successful meeting that gave a positive outlook on the future of the Key Club at Santa Rosa High.

Pediatric Trauma Program BY: CRISTINA CARDENAS|CLOVERDALE Cloverdale Key Club invests a lot of time in raising money for PTP each year. We try to take at least $1300 to the Key Club Fall Rally. Our club’s PTP fundraising campaign this year will be a “Paper Airplane Grid” campaign. We will take the next couple of months to sell $5 slots on a grid which has 100 slots on it. Once all 100 slots are sold, we create a giant grid and throw a paper airplane over it. Wherever the airplane lands, the person who donated to have that spot labeled as theirs, will win $100! The grid will have 100 slots on it, so we’ll make $400 for the cause! We’ll be out in front of two of our local grocery stores during the coming months asking for donations. Any member can sign up to do this!

Service Service Service! BY: UNKNOWN|WINDSOR On June 24th Windsor had its monthly DCM but unlike other Division Council Meetings this month was special, because Windsor Key Club hosted the DCM. Although the planning was a bit stressful, at the end of the day every part of it was worth it. Our first division color run was super fun and the members and officers truly enjoyed it, not only that, but we were able to help fundraise for a good cause. On Wednesday June 28th two Windsor Key Club officers attended a Windsor Kiwanis meeting. It was a great way to hear the planning of upcoming events; not only that, but they were able to hear about the educational non-profit program SOL. They said it was very interesting and would like to help kids from other Central American countries get an education and school supplies.

Helping Kids In More Ways Than One

BY: NATALIE LASKER|MARIA CARRILLO

YOUNG DJ L.A. WORLD TOUR

This June we have helped at a lot of events and volunteering opportunities. Our first one we did was on June 10th at Snoopy's Children's Museum for the Birthday Celebration. Here the volunteers gardened and got to meet some kids there, too. The Rotary Meeting was our next event. For the Rotary Meeting they invited us for lunch and Hannah Means, (the President), and Rima, (Friend/Volunteer), from Montgomery presented about NewGen, and how they can contribute but also spreading awareness about the issues of landmines. We had a Kiwanis Meeting for our next event on June 15th. The Kiwanis meeting was a success, we raised a lot of money from our baked goods, raised awareness about our NewGen campaign, and enjoyed lunch at a Board meeting with our Kiwanis leaders and sponsors. Here's some information on the organization NewGen; many of our club members are and have been involved in this for a little bit now. NewGen teaches students under the age of 18 to build relationships across borders, learn differences between peace and conflict, and shares examples of violence and peace projects that

have taken place and are taking place. It also helps us to be aware of our surroundings, and how to build an effective peace project. Next we attended our Key Club DCM Color Run on June 24th. Every month Key Club puts on a Division Council Meeting for all Key Clubs in that Division, so for this months DCM we gathered at a park and did a color run to raise money for Eliminate, and had a park clean up. Also, on that same day right after the DCM event, we had the Giro Bello Stain Aide event where three of us from our club handed out waters to bikers and set up/made the food from Salvation Army.
