Kiwanis Club financial support:

• Your Kiwanis club should pay AT LEAST 1/3 of the cost of 4 members…… (at $115 each, that’s a minimum of

$460) We would hope that the Kiwanis club would pay 1/3 of the cost of EVERY member who wishes to attend, (not just those 4)! • The minimum of 4 covers the newly elected President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer • Allows for each to receive training in position duties, in addition to giving them a strong foundation in the over-all Key Club/Kiwanis service program

• Keep in mind the fact that chaperone costs are about $420 each! (The difference comes in the cost of the

room….. 2 to a room, instead of 4. This estimate includes the “extras”)

Key Clubbers come away from DCON with a desire to bring back to their own clubs an excitement for service, Key Club & Kiwanis!

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 • Members who attend District Convention find time in their busy lives to put Key Club and their Kiwanis commitment as a higher priority. • They become stronger, better leaders.

• This process is greatly enhanced if a LOCAL Kiwanis member experiences DCON with them!

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

FINALS SURVIVAL KITS Plan a meeting where your club gets together and puts “finals survival kits” together. These can be filled with pencils, gum, inspirational quotes, or whatever you think students will like. Make sure to advertise! Put out an announcement in your student newspaper, morning announcements or social media to get people’s attention.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS: Take advantage of this sweet holiday by selling bags of chocolate, flowers, or cute cards at school, during break and lunch. People can purchase them and give you the name of the person they wish to give it to. On Valentine’s day, have a few of your members volunteer to hand-deliver them at some time that makes sense with your school schedule.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

CONCESSION STAND: Find out what upcoming events your school is holding and offer to hold a concession stand. Depending on the event, you can sell anything from hot chocolate and cookies to lemonade and sandwiches. It is a great way to raise money while at the same time supporting your schools events.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

“MAKE YOUR OWN SUNDAE” EVENT: Who doesn't’t love an ice-cream sundae?! Have your club host a “make your own sundae” event at lunch. All you need is a few different toppings and some ice-cream. You can charge $3 (advance sale) to $5 (at the door); and not only will it be a great way to raise money, but it’s also a fun way to spend lunch with your club members and friends!

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

HOLD A BAKE OFF: Holding a bake off is a great way to put a new spin on the traditional bake sale. Get other school clubs, sports teams, or faculty members to participate. You can charge an entrance fee for anyone who wants to participate and hold it at lunch. Afterwards you can sell the baked goods to students.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

ACTIVITY BOARD: Purchase an activity board to put up at your school. Have a couple people in your club be in charge of maintaining it throughout the week, using it to announce upcoming sports events or school activities. To turn it into a fundraiser sell advertising on a weekly or monthly basis, that way not only will you be able to pay for the board but you can also raise money.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2

THIS FUNDRAISING IDEAS: CHILI COOK-OFF:

This is a really fun way to fundraise because you can get other groups to join in. For example, other sports teams at your school, or your Kiwanis Club. You can not only charge an entrance fee to participate, but you can also raise money by charging an entrance fee for people who want to attend. Make sure to invite friends and family to make this type of fundraiser a huge success.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2

DANCES: Have your club host a dance. It can be a holiday dance or just a fun themed dance. You will need your whole club involved in order to pull it off, but it can be a lot of fun in addition to raising a lot of money.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2

DATE-MATCH: Leading up to Valentine’s Day, pass out compatibility surveys. Then sell the list of compatible students to raise money. It’s really fun to see who could end up being a possible match.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2

MOVIE PARTIES: Get members to bring in recent movies that they think everyone would enjoy. Coordinate with a teacher to see if you can host a movie showing. You can charge people $5 to watch the movie and you can even sell popcorn and snacks during the movie.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

SPIRIT GEAR: Have your members decide on a few different spirit items that would be easy to have made and that the students in your school would wear. Then see if there is somewhere local that can make them, if not order them from online. You can sell these items at lunch or even at basketball or other sporting games.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

TEACHER MOST: If you have heard of senior most this is very similar. Get pre-approved pictures of teachers and display them at lunch. You can have ballot boxes where people can put in as little or as much money as they want. They can vote on things like funniest, cutest or ugliest and the teacher with the most money in their ballot box at the end of lunch wins.

CNH I K E Y C L U B I D 3 2 FUNDRAISING IDEA: (for later in the year)

KISS A SENIOR GOODBYE: Take pre-order payments for bags of chocolate kisses and a personalized note to be delivered to graduating seniors. This is a fundraiser that everyone can get in on, so make sure to advertise to teachers, coaches and especially parents and family members of graduating seniors, in addition to their classmates and friends.
