What is The Eliminate Project? • Through The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus—a deadly disease that steals the lives of 34,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year.
A newborn can be infected with tetanus due to non-hygienic birthing practices, such as cutting the umbilical cord with unsterile instruments or treating it with contaminated dressings.
What do babies with Neonatal Tetanus experience? • Muscle Contractions • Stop feeding • Bodies become stiff • Spasms • Bones break • Death Parents cannot even touch the baby to offer comfort!
Every 11 minutes, the life of a baby is stolen by Neonatal Tetanus. • That is 131 lives per day • 916 lives a week • 47,651 lives in a year! And all because someone in our privileged world thought they should spend $1.80 on…
Since 2010, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have been fighting to save the lives of millions of babies from around the world. Key Club International asks that every Key Club donates at least $250 for the Eliminate Project each year and we will continue until we have won the battle against MNT.
What has your club done and or is planning to do for “The Eliminate Project to raise the $250?
