MONTH
Our hot tattooed babe for April is Princess Antonio Sosa. This 22 year old stunner lists sinigang, adobo and binagooongan as some of her favorite foods, but we were surprised to find out that she doesn't go to the gym or exercise. No wonder she is turned on by guys who can cook for her (hint, hint!) Like all women ruled by the sign of Aries, Princess possess an impeccable sense of style and loves dressing up and posing in front of the camera. She loves to hangout and go out with friends. She jams to RnB music.

e all know the saying "USE YOUR COCONUT". Well maybe that saying came from our ancestors meaning "USE COCONUT" in our diet. Before, back when I was not into "Paleo", I tried to avoid coconut into my diet because most of us know it is full of fat. Well it is true that coconut oil has saturated "fat" but this kind of fat is beneficial to our health according to modern day studies. Coconut water - for more than 4,000 years, coconut water has been revered as a natural source of nutrition, wellness, beauty and hydration. In times of famine and war, coconut water has been used as an intravenous fluid and saved many lives. It’s the only natural substance that can be safely injected into the human blood stream. Now modern science has validated its effectiveness. But it certainly makes coconut water sound pretty special. It’s said to help with: Muscle performance, energy, weight-

The
Success Path
M
To excel in her craft, Loida is currently taking culinary classes at ABC Cooking School which is considered as one of the finest culinary schools here in Japan,. She is also doing a part-time job in an obento company to gain more knowledge about the ins and outs of running a food business. Eventually, she aspires to have a restaurant and coffee shop of her own that will offer "sumptuous creations beyond imagination". For orders and inquiries contact: 080-3705-0912
any Filipinos dream of having a successful life, Loida Ozaki believes that sucesss comes to those who have the ability to create their own“success path” Born as second in a brood of three, Loida Fernandez Oris -Ozaki lived a typical happy normal life in the Philippines. Like most of us, she used to help her parents on their everyday household chores which included running errands and assisting in the kitchen. When she was 9, her parents went on a long vacation to Baguio – which Loida credits to igniting her passion for cooking. Her first ever home cooked meal was chopsuey which her sibling enjoyed. As Loida was growing older, her mother started a small restaurant business near their home. Her mother asked for her assistance to help her with their business. Whenever her mother is not around, she was the one responsible for the menu. She had to prepare a number of dishes in a short period of time to keep the business running as her mother does. This experience made her better in her craft. Fate then changed her life around. Never did she imagined that she would be married to Shigenori Ozaki, a Japanese national. Loida and her husband decided to live in Japan. They were blessed with two beautiful sons,Yuki andYuta. According to her, marrying a foreigner is not as easy as
10
it is. She had to make a huge adjustment to make their marriage work. She also had to exert extra effort since she lived with her mother-in-law. She had to learn Japanese cuisine for her family. It was hard for her because she had no idea on what to prepare, which food to cook and what the ingredients were. Good enough, her husband and mother-in-law were very supportive of her and made her Japanese cooking experience easier In her stay in Japan, Loida never had the chance to work as she was a full time housewife to her husband and kids. During her spare time, she would spend most of her time inside the kitchen. She started off with baking goodies like pan de sal, siopao, etc. However, the results were not as what she expected. But this did not hinder her to keep on trying thus, reviving her senses to the thing that she loved doing when she was young - cooking. VOL. 2 NO. 4 CLUB

Aside from her family, her friends here in Japan encouraged her to continue her hobby. Loida enjoys baking for them. Until one day, some of her colleagues enticed her to turn her hobby into a business. This became her door to Thinkervelle Sweets n Pastries. She started selling in small batches to friends. She got positive responses that led her to create more. Her products includes cupcakes, muffins, pan de sal, macaroons, pan de coco, leche flan, royal icing cakes, siopao, empanada, etc. She also ventured into a catering business for birthdays and other occasions where she offers a wide variety of dishes. In addition to that, she now offers fondant cakes which is barely known here in Japan. Word of mouth became her marketing tool to spread the news to Filipinos here in Japan. She does not treat her business as business per se but as a passion she loves doing.

MGF?!!? (May Ganung Factor?!?!)
Finally,
IT'S SPRING WORDS & PHOTOS TOTOMAI
T
he most anticipated season in Japan has finally arrived. It also means that the streets and parks will be covered with pink canopies, aka cherry blossoms (sakura), for a limited couple of weeks. It's mother nature's treat, or to an extent a bribe, for giving us a cold treatment the past few months. Why is spring very popular here in Japan? It's because of the Hanami, or flower viewing. Everyone, from friends, families, tourists, is out of their houses, troops to the park and enjoys being showered by these petals falling at a speed of 5 cm/s. You can't even prohibit a person who is allergic to pollen to miss this event. Parks around Tokyo is turning into a big playground. Hanami (花見, lit. "flower viewing") is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers, "flower" in this case almost always meaning cherry blossoms ("sakura") or (less often) plum blossoms ("ume")
14
Shinjuku gyoen and Yoyogi ken are two of the most popular parks in Tokyo. Everything that is happening in the park is very random. Some take it as a photo opportunity. Some to get drunk. Others to play. To bond with their family. To be crazy. Name it and you can see a representative or two. Shinjuku gyoen is stricter compared to Yoyogi ken. No booze is allowed and there's an entrance fee of 200 yen. The place is very good though. Lots of cherry blossoms variety show-off during our visit. Yoyogi ken on the other hand is more animated compared to the former. This place defines the celebration of spring. Ah spring, even if you are not my favorite season, I'll fully welcome you should you plan in staying for a year. You just don't know how you make everyone inspired and genkii. Give me a ring once you have your decision.

Yumi who is now 19 years old, loves fashion and dressing up. Even as a little girl she has always been amazed with clothes, makeup and fondly remembers how her Filipina mom encouraged her with her passion. “I would always look at myself in front of the mirror trying on different poses that I see models in the runway do and try to copy them, whenever my mom would catch me doing this she would always tell me that I looked like a model” which of course boosted the little girl's self-esteem. It was in her early teenage years that her modelling career started when she was given a chance to try out for an audition to be one of the teenage models for Penty Magazine a popular teenage fashion magazine here in Japan. Yumi was chosen along side other Japanese teenage girls for the magazine, fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a model. As years passed by, Yumi worked on her career as a model by searching for the right connections and luckily she was able to find the right people that enabled here to book modelling gigs. Lately she has been with "bröocH", a well known hair salon in Tokyo working as one of their hair models. Working with "bröocH" have given Yumi the right exposure that she needed in the industry, eventually landing her photos on famous magazines like ViVi and Ray magazine. Yumi confesses that working as a hair model is harder than the usual advertising/commercial modelling because aside from having to stay pretty you have no control as to what the new hairstyle trend would be and have no choice but to have a perm, colour your hair or as you can see on her recent pics - cut your hair short. For this young lady, persistence, hard work, determination, optimism and enthusiasm paved the way towards achieving the dream she used to have and turning it into reality.

FOOD REVIEW
Food Trip sa
IHAWAN SHINJUKU
M
