How to DECORATE For MAXIMUM Resale Value hen preparing a home for the market, it is all about creating an atmosphere that will entice buyers and make them feel at home as soon as they walk through the door. Quite often, a buyer’s choice to put in an offer is as much affected by the floor plan as it is the overall “feel” of the home which is captured by clever staging. Why do you think builders deck out model homes in beautiful decor instead of showing empty homes to prospective buyers? It is important to create a space that is warm and inviting. There are a lot of important steps to consider before getting to the decorating portion of staging, such as curb appeal and things like decluttering, depersonalizing, and making necessary repairs. After all that is done, sprucing up your house’s decor is another important step before opening the doors to buyers. These tips will show you how to decorate for maximum resale value and attract the most number of buyers.

Casa I Home he arrival of summer, along with its sunny skies and beautiful weather, inspires homeowners to create a space to entertain guests and enjoy the outdoors. Design an outdoor living room that merges style and function, and incorporates elements of indoor comfort. Here are some ideas to make your outdoor space an elegant living space. • Treat your outdoor area as you would your living room. If space is limited, use sectionals to create seating in whatever arrangement fits best. If there is more space, add the Echo Beach Dining Table from Pier 1 Imports. This high-quality piece is made from handcrafted, all-weather synthetic rattan and offers plenty of space to arrange chairs just as you would in your dining room. Include your favorite accessories, such as handcrafted trays and a colorful floral arrangement to create a cheerful centerpiece. • Outdoor rugs tie everything together, such as Pier 1 Imports’ Wavy Geo Rug. Now you have an outdoor area that

makes everyone comfortable and happy. • An outdoor living space lends itself to new ideas with color and pattern, providing the opportunity to be bold and to go beyond your comfort zone. When shopping for the outdoors, remember, anything goes. • Outdoors entertaining always focuses on food, drinks and friends. A self-service food station or bar allows guests to get refreshments whenever they want to. This also allows you, the host, to focus on the fun at hand. Look for serving and drink carts that maximize space, such as the Rania Serving Cart from Pier 1 Imports, which has three levels so there’s plenty of space to put an ice bucket, drink dispenser, snacks, lawn games and more. So, let the warmth of the summer bring many unforgettable moments to your life and stylish elements into your outdoor spaces. For more great decorating ideas, visit www.pier1.com.

Dr. Turri (left), and Hearing Aid Specialist, John Harper
It Can Happen to You earing loss is more prevalent than most people would imagine. Unlike someone wearing eyeglasses, today’s instruments have become visually unnoticeable even to the naked eye. People now enjoy wearing instruments in their day-to-day life. Dr. Albert F. Turri, Founder and Director of Harmony Hearing Centers of America, is Board Certified in Audiology, and has been treating patients for hearing loss for 13 years. Dr. Turri will examine, diagnose and prescribe the correct hearing aid for your specific needs. Dr. Turri also treats patients with tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Hearing loss usually occurs after age fifty. The more mature a person is, the more likely to suffer from some degree of hearing loss. Though there are many people age 75 and older with near perfect hearing, difficulty in hearing can occur at an earlier age, and sometime due to an accident. When you visit Harmony Hearing
Centers of America, you can be sure that you will receive the best care for your hearing loss. You will be treated with the dignity and utmost respect you deserve. All the devices available at Harmony Hearing Centers of America provide high quality sound processing which is important for a clear and comfortable conversation. There are various styles and colors to choose from. Helping patients with hearing seem to not only treat the loss, but also helps with their quality of life with family and friends. Dr. Turri graduated with a Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of South Florida in Tampa, in 2001. He completed his doctorate in audiology from the School of Audiology at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, in 2006. Dr. Turri and his wife, Christiane, also an audiologist, have three daughters: Gabriella, 6, and 5-year-old twins, Julianna and Cecilia.

or many years, psychotherapy and antidepressant medication have been the standard procedure for treating depression. But today, psychiatrists now have a third option: the NeuroStar TMS Therapy System®, a proven non-drug treatment for depression cleared by the FDA in 2008. Psychiatrists can use the TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Therapy System to treat patients suffering from various forms of depressions, without any harmful side effects. This amazing and innovative medical treatment has been especially beneficial to people who do not respond well to antidepressant medication. It has been reported that more than 4 million patients in the United States do not receive adequate benefit from antidepressant medications.
TMS Therapy consists of 20-30 sessions lasting 37 1/2 minutes per session. The patient sits in a dentist-like chair, the doctor maps the patient’s brain to isolate the left prefrontal cortex, an area known to affect mood. The device safely and effectively generates a magnetic pulsed field, similar to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The patient receives 3,000 pulses per session, essentially retraining the neurons in the prefrontal cortex on a daily basis. Patients do not feel any major discomfort during or after this non-invasive treatment. The patient remains conscious during the procedure. Oftentimes they choose to watch positive movies, listen to music, or talk with the Certified Tech delivering treatment. As a result of this focused stimulation of the neurons (brain cells), patients have shown a significant reduction in depression symptoms, including those with Major Depressive Disorder. This is substantiated by neuroimaging studies after the treatment, which clearly demonstrates how the neurons have changed, indicative of a lower degree or the total elimination of depression. The TMS Therapy also improves cognitive performance, and it is effective in
treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Bipolar Disorder, anxiety, and migraines. The TMS Therapy received a favorable review when it was featured on the Dr. Oz television program. TMS Therapy is available at TMS Treatment Centers of America in Orlando, where they recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting event by the Dr. Phillips Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Erwin F. Ramos, Chief Medical Officer/Psychiatrist, and TMS Provider Paul “Dr. J” Jacobson, M.D., supervise all medical treatments. The TMS Therapy is available only by prescription from the patient’s psychiatrist. Juan J. Recinos, MHA is the Chief Executive Officer of TMS Treatment Centers of America, and Sabrina Aguilar is the Administrator. It is located at 7350 Sandlake Commons Blvd. Med-Plex B, Suite 2229, Orlando, FL 32819. Tel: 407-745-5889, Fax: 407-745-5578.

GLORIA’S
HAIR STUDIO
For THE BEST CarE oF Your Hair
William González and Gloria García
I
n Kissimmee, there is one hair studio that is unique, and is considered the best hair studio by many residents of Kissimmee and Orlando: Gloria’s Hair Studio. For fifteen years, owner Gloria García has been offering her professional services to loyal customers at her E. Vine St. location. Customers receive the best professional care for their hair, which includes haircuts, hairstyling, coloring, keratin treatments, and other related services. With 38 years of experience, Gloria García is very knowledgeable in every area of her chosen profession. She is especially concerned about customers who ask for keratin treatments. Keratin is a pro-
tein that is found naturally in the hair. A keratin treatment restores dry and brittle hair, usually damaged by chemically treated hair. A keratin treatment restores the keratin protein. But the strong odor from the keratin with formaldehyde can sometimes cause asthma, nausea, watery eyes, and headaches. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, which causes cancer in animals. This is why García recommends natural or organic keratin. It is important for her to educate customers about the danger of using keratin with formaldehyde. García was born and raised in New York City, where she began her career as a hairstylist. After a few years, she moved to
Puerto Rico and continued to work in hair salons. In 1989, she relocated to Central Florida, and three years later, opened Gloria’s Hair Studio. William González recently joined the professional staff of Gloria’s Hair Studio. González specializes in men’s haircuts. Santiago Cruz, who also cuts men’s hair, has been with Gloria’s Hair Studio for seven years, and has 40 years of experience as a barber. Gloria’s Hair Studio is located at the Mill Creek Plaza, 1208 E. Vine St. Kissimmee, FL 34744. Tel: 407-870-5008. Hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday.

Essential Personality Traits for Successful Entrepreneurs These are the five key traits shared by successful entrepreneurs:
1
Confident A first-quarter survey of startup entrepreneurs’ confidence levels found that 91 percent were “confident” or “very confident” that their companies would become more profitable in the next 12 months. Nearly half anticipate hiring more employees, according to the April 2014 poll of nearly 2,000 CEOs by LegalZoom. Any entrepreneur is bursting with confidence in the conditions they control. There is no room for doubt and second-guessing yourself. Use your strengths to hire people to handle the jobs that don’t play to your strengths. You will reinforce your own positive self-image, and you will give those around you even greater confidence in you, which will help feed your belief in yourself.

26
Passion It cannot be developed through leadership training, but everyone has the capacity for it. It’s the source of incredible energy that feeds on one of our most powerful emotions and compels entrepreneurs forward with excitement and enthusiasm.
3
A fighter’s instinct The best fighters have studied their competition, identified their strengths and weaknesses, and used that knowledge to develop a strategy to beat them. They are determined to give it their all whether they are winning or losing. When things are going well, the entrepreneur who thinks the fight is over and he has won will quickly find himself knocked to the mat. Equally important is having the mental fortitude to keep fighting when you are at the bottom, bruised
and bloodied. Of course, “the fight” does not involve punches or artillery. In business, it involves constantly assessing the competitive market and taking proactive measures to ensure your business holds the advantage.
4
Vision Successful entrepreneurs are always thinking ahead – planning the future with imagination and wisdom. Having a vision means being able to manifest original ideas. Strategic coaches can help you define your vision, if that’s not your strength. Rely on worksheets to crystalize and drive the vision home. What you visualize will materialize.
5
Rebel Entrepreneurs are agents of change; they predict the future by creating it. You cannot be content with maintaining the status quo, you must push the limits. Use intelligence to quickly and accurately identify and act on market trends. Dare to be different. Not everyone is born to be an entrepreneur. But if that’s what you believe you want, do an honest self-assessment. If you are lacking in one of these traits, address it.

hey say it takes two to tango, but it only takes one person to decide that dancing can be fun, easy and healthy. Dancing is indeed a fun and easy way to exercise; the various movements stimulate the cardio vascular system, and can even help you lose weight and de-stress. Experience the benefits of ballroom or social dancing at the Arthur Murray® Dance Studio in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando, FL. For ten years, this dance studio has been offering dance lessons to men and women of all ages, including children and adults in their 70s. Couples planning to marry can participate in the Wedding Dance program, where they learn to dance the traditional Waltz, and any other dance they want to learn for their wedding day. Of course, any couple can learn to dance, and enjoy the many benefits of dancing. The lessons are personalized so that each person learns at his/her own pace. Each lesson is 45 minutes. All the instructors at the Arthur Murray® Dance Studios are experienced, well-trained, and dedicated dancers with a passion for dancing. Dances you can learn include: Salsa, Merengue, Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Disco, The Hustle, The Twist, Rumba, Swing, and Samba. But this Arthur Murray® Dance Studio is more than just a dance studio – it’s a unique place where people can mingle in a safe and friendly environment. In fact, every Tuesday and Friday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. there is a Practice Party, where everyone dances to a variety of music in a festive atmosphere. Arthur Murray® Dance Studios franchisee Emily Bergman started taking ballet classes at age two. Her mother never imagined that little Emily would make dancing her life-long career. After high school, Bergman worked for three years as a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray® Dance Studio in New York. This valuable experience was the determining factor in her decision to own an Arthur Murray® Dance Studios franchise. Emily Bergman and business associate, Kimberly Carroll, opened another dance studio in Lake Mary, and will soon have one in Clermont. The Arthur Murray® Dance Studio began in 1912, and today, there are 260 dance studios in 21 countries. Over 40 million people have learned to dance the Arthur Murray® way. athnasium of Dr. Phillips is a math learning center where students of all levels can catch up, keep up, and get ahead in math. Mathnasium provides excellent instruction and a premier teaching method. Our child’s success is our first priority. Mathnasium offers the finest mathematics instructions worldwide. We utilize a time-tested approach that provides initial and ongoing assessments, individualized learning plans, personalized instruction, and guided practice to build each student’s math understanding and skills. Mathnasium teaches math in a way that makes sense to children. As students gain a greater understanding of math, their excitement toward the subject grows. Excitement leads to passion, and passion leads to growth. At Mathnasium of Dr. Phillips we have helped hundreds of children grow to not only understand math, but to love it as well.
What to Expect Mathnasium bridges the gap between traditional and newer math programs by helping students master number facts, build computational skills, and improve Number Sense. Beyond helping children earn good grades and achieve top scores on standardized tests, Mathnasium cultivates an intuitive understanding of math, teaching kids to become strong problem solvers and preparing them for bright futures. Premier Teaching Method Mathnasium of Dr. Phillips is a learning center with qualified instructors, individualized instruction, and customized learning plans. While a “tutor” helps students get through “tonight’s homework,” one of our primary roles as a learning center is to uncover and directly address gaps in students’ knowledge that are the underlying causes of
their current difficulties in school. Since math is a cumulative subject, it is extremely important to make sure students have mastery of prerequisite knowledge from previous grades if they are going to have success in their current grade and beyond. Mathnasium doesn’t stop challenging students once they have reached grade level; we continue to move forward with various topics to challenge the students and advance their mathematical understanding. We look forward to working with you and helping to build a successful future for your child. Contact us at 407-354-1300 or drphillips@mathnasium.com. Mathnasium of Dr. Phillips is located at 7536 Dr. Phillips Blvd. Orlando, FL 32819.
