TEA TALK with Pastor Gail Wright

DEMONSTRATIONS OF SHAKING THE DUST OFF YOUR FEET AFTER PASSING THROUGH GENTILES CITIES OR TERRITORIES WERE TO SHOW A SEPARATION FROM THE GENTILES INFLUENCES AND PRACTICES. SO WHEN THE DISCIPLES SHOOK THE DUST FROM THEIR FEET AFTER LEAVING A JEWISH TOWN, IT WAS A VIVID SIGN THAT THEY WISHED TO REMAIN SEPARATE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAD REJECTED JESUS AND HIS MESSAGE. JESUS MADE IT CLEAR THAT ALL WHO HEARD THE GOSPEL WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY DID WITH IT. FOR WHEN THE DISCIPLES FAITHFULLY AND CAREFULLY PRESENTED THE GOSPEL CORRECTLY THEY WERE NOT TO BE BLAMED IF THE MESSAGE WAS REJECTED. WE AS CHILDREN OF GOD ARE NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE WHEN OTHERS REJECT CHRIST'S MESSAGE OF SALVATION, BUT WE DO HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SHARE IT CLEARLY AND FAITHFULLY WITH OTHERS. WHICH MEANS WE ARE NOT WHEN THERE IS NOT AN AGREEMENT, WE ARE NOT TO ARGUE WITH THOSE OR DEBATE. WE ARE TO SHARE. THAT'S IT.

write to. P.O. Box 9076 Fayetteville, N.C. and share some of your wisdom nuggets.

WHAT THEY DO WITH IT AFTER WE HAVE CAREFULLY SHARE IT WITH THEM, ITS THEIR RESPONSIBLITY WHAT THEY DO WITH IT FROM THERE. NOT OURS . SO THERE WILL NOT BE ANY EXCUSE FOR ANYONE WHO WERE TOLD AND WE WILL NOT GET THE BLAME FOR DOING WHAT WE WERE GIVEN TO DO, IF THERE IS A REJECTION FROM THAT INDIVIDUAL. CASE CLOSED. FALSE DOCTRINE IS WIDESPREAD NOW IT’S TIME TO GET BACK TO THE BASIC OF KNOWING THE WORD THAT IS BEING PREACHED PASTOR/EVANGELIST GAIL WRIGHT

We are finding that the Word of God is being taught differently and spoken and taught in man's teachings and not of God's Word. There are teachings which is spoken in these latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with hot iron. The teaching that are being taught from False Prophets and Pastors who are not called but have called themselves are seducing their thoughts and words on those who do not know the truth. Watch and Wake Up and know what thus says the Lord God. Read the Word for yourself and know what is being told the truth. Don't just take man's word, know your bible. Because whar looks and acts and teach like its real it is not, you need to know that it is real, by reading the Word for yourself. The Word of God does not change and if there is another story that is being told that does not comply with what the Word says then it is not true. God speaks truth and there is no other truth but what He speaks. Man is putting his own words in and mixing them up to where if you do not read the Word for yourself you would believe that it's not true. Do not be deceive man has lied, but Our Father in Heaven does not lie. Believe in God and believe on His Word. Don't get carried away and be swayed by untruth doctrine. We are in the Last Days and the truth is sometimes hard to detect. Those who are children of God and who has read the Word and know the Word knows the difference. We are here during the time of the signing of the agreement which was spoken in Revelations. The count down is not yet but the stage is being set. Are you ready? Are you really ready? because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Are you ready? Pay attention to the European World and what is happening now. Know that the Stage is being set and we need to prepared for the Lord God's coming. If you do not know the Lord God now is the time that you need to know and if you are not saved now is the time to ask Him to come into your life and be your Lord and Savior and save you. Once you have then thank Him and Praise Him and continue to believe. Don't give up your Faith. God is real and He wish for no man to parrish but to have Everlasting Life Eternally. Trust Him and Know that He is God and the Only True God Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

ONLY JESUS REIGNS I had a dream two weeks ago that I am to share. In the dream I was in a large house and I had been telling people about what was to come but its like no one was paying attention. I went over to a large picture window and looked out and there was a weird big house coming in like a plane ready to land! It circled twice and the third time it landed outside where we were! I knew it was evil. People started coming inside, I knew they had been in this house! The first one came at me and I barely could get out ONLY JESUS REIGNS! Instantly he crumpled and I knew the evil had left him and the person got up and walked away! Then a stronger one came at me...I repeated stronger this time ONLY JESUS REIGNS..to which he also fell to the floor and being released the person walked free! This happened many times, each one being stronger!! I had started touching them and decreeing ONLY JESUS REIGNS! The strongest one who had been watching then came over toward me but I knew it wasnt time for his demise!!! He came and I held my hand up repeating again ONLY JESUS REIGNS! He instantly turns into a young George Hamilton looking man!!! Every hair was in perfect place and his clothes and outward appearance was perfect but the inward was just the opposite. I spoke out whatever you must do, do it quickly!!! I knew he had a short time to decieve even the elect if possible. I was amazed to see some of the people who had witnessed what had happened being smitten with his looks!!! But I knew there was nothing I could do. I've quoted this scripture even the elect if possible many times lately but then I would say its not possible for our God will reveal every hidden work of darkness!!! Many of you know that I've been in a physical battle with shingles for the last 8 weeks!! They've been on both sides of my body, which makes them more serious. I had over 200 new ones break out on me this week! Ever since the dream I've said what I heard myself say over every situation and my faith would pop...ONLY JESUS REIGNS! Family Fun at the Festival

Praise the Lord. I was really tired that day but I wanted to get out. I am into a lot of things that require a lot of attention and details that I spend time on. So my husband Ken and I step out to the festival that day and believe this,I wanted to get to a place I could sit and just take a little nap when I woke up to all of these children were playing around us and everyone was happy and enjoying themselves and just having fun. This little boy on the right came over to me and kissed me on the hand. He is such a cutie pie. His dad came over to get him, I just had to take a picture of the him.

ONLY JESUS REIGNS I've quoted this scripture even the elect if possible many times lately but then I would say its not possible for our God will reveal every hidden work of darkness!!! And when Jesus reigns...nothing else can. So these shingles had started getting to me as I was seeing them only get worse! As I was in the shower, I asked the Lord to please show me the door for these to be able to touch me. I heard 'separation anxiety'...I knew it had to do with my husband Ray, who had been getting weaker by the day! As I was talking to a friend tonight, it hit me!!!! God didn't give me that spirit of fear!!! But he had revealed what this stonger man was in my case! Oh it was polished good..Ray could hardly get out of bed or even wake up for days! While the shingles were wearing me out! Well I'm not receiving this..the lying spirit has to go down now!!!!! Rays miracle is coming any second and this thing was sent to make me doubt my God...BUT GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My whole being is shouting ONLY JESUS REIGNS~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever the enemy is trying to use to decieve any of you, I pray now that Almighty God reveal every hidden work of darkness in your lives for the light of his glory to consume it!! He comes as an angel of light..looking good BUT only to stop the blessings of God from coming if we fall for his lies! Father may the Spirit of Truth overtake each one of your elect this night and reveal any weapon that is trying to form against us so that nothing can prosper!!!

FALL SEPTEMBER 2015 I am here enwrapping myself in this fringed robe, In the fulfillment of the command of my Creator, as it is written in the Torah, they shall make them a fringe upon the corners of their generations. And even as I cover myself with the tallit in this world, so may my soul deserve to be clothed with a beauteous spiritual robe in the World to come, in the garden of Eden.

VOICES OFT THE WIND 4TH EDITION

"What is a prayer shawl?"

Answer: The Jewish prayer shawl is a fringed garment worn by Jewish men on the outside of their regular garments in the synagogue, especially during morning,Sabbath, and other holiday services. The Hebrew name for this prayer shawl is tallit, which simply means “a robe,” “a cloak,” or “a sheet.” The Jewish prayer shawl is usually made of wool or silk and is often long enough to cover most of the body, with special twined and knotted fringes attached to each of its four corners. In modern times it is not uncommon to see Jewish men wear a silk prayer shawl that is no more than a scarf around the neck. The ultraOrthodox Jewish men wear the prayer shawl over the head when they recite the more important prayers. This is what Linda Stewart, Janet Thompson and Nancy Miller Presents to those in honoring them the Prayer Shawl without their knowledge until that day of service.

direct and matter-of-fact Make no mistake about it, YOU ARE FREE to do whatever YOU WANT to do, but understand the WAGES of sin is death. And Scripture makes it clear that God is NOT to be mocked, "that which a man soweth, THAT shall he also reap" If you commit adultery, steal, murder, gossip, sow discord, carry hate and unforgiveness in your heart, God says you WILL REAP the same. And to expect green meadows, sunny days and blue skies is (excuse me) STUPID! Sin carries in it RETRIBUTION, there IS a PUNISHMENT that comes upon one who disobeys God. Rom. 6:23 states very plainly what the penalty is for sin. If memory serves me correctly, God sent His Son that we may be delievered FROM sin, not admission to LIVE IN it!! This passage of Scripture is NOT referring to a natural, but SPIRITUAL death, in fact it's the same disconnection from God that Adam experienced in the garden. Bruce Jenner (and those like him) are and will forever be SEPARATED from God. He's turned them over, and grace CANNOT and DOES NOT apply to them anymore. Of course as children of Light, we're not to condemn people to Hell, but IT IS our duty to share the TRUTH of His Gospel as well as the consequences that come with living OUTSIDE of His will. We're NOT judging the world, God's word has ALREADY DONE THAT! We're only REMINDING the world of what His Word said is to come if they continue. See, I'm convinced that the enemy has lulled many of us into a false sense of security, where you think you've more time on this earth than you actually do (to get yourself together). "Tomorrow, I'll give my life tomorrow, let me enjoy my sinful ways one more day..." the unfortunate thing about this mindset is, that if you've NOT repented and made Jesus Lord of your life TODAY, before you take your last breath, and close your physical eyes for the last time, you had better prepared yourself to pay whatever penalty your sin just purchased for you! KENYATTA JUST GETTING STARTED For those of you who believe, "I was born this way" I would encourage you to read John 3:7 and ask God to give you a new heart and a new mind. To increase your understanding, and desire for the things of God before it's too late. VOICES OF THE WIND

Waiting For Change Eyum Ocheola-OKI

If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come” – Job 14:14 . Waiting is something that no one likes to do. When you walk into a shop or go for a doctor’s appointment, you don’t want to waste your time. Yes, we look at waiting time as a waste of time! You want to be attended to immediately, especially in this jet age where everything is on the fast side – we have fast food, speed post, express service & delivery, etc. But do you know that waiting time is never a wasted time? Neither should it be an idle time! It should rather be a time of training and preparation; a time of service – call it internship if you like because it is a time when you have the opportunity to gain some practical life experiences. There are three ways we can wait for change. One way is to wait in Apathy, another is to wait in Anxiety and the third is to wait in Anticipation. Let us examine waiting in Apathy. Apathy The World English Dictionary defines Apathy as lack of enthusiasm or energy: lack of interest in anything, or the absence of any wish to do anything. Apathy could be described as ‘I don’t care anymore’ attitude. It is a state where your faith in God has grown so cold as a result of a long wait for an expected miracle or visitation from God. The long wait makes you presume that God is not interested in you or your case. You throw in the towel, that is, you give up, saying to yourself that ‘what will be, will be’. You stop believing God and even start doubting testimonies of the goodness of God that you hear people share. It was apathy that made Sarah laugh at herself in Genesis 17:12 when the Lord said she was going to be pregnant at 89 years of age. Apathy is no surprise to God, because He already said in His word that “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life – Proverbs 13:12.” So if God knows that if our hope is deferred, if there is a delay in receiving a promise from Him, our heart could get sick (that is we could give up believing Him and give in to despair), why then does He still allow our hope to be deferred and make us wait? I strongly believe that a very good reason why God would allow our hope to be deferred and allow us to wait; is to help us learn patience. Another good reason is to build up our strength. “If you fail in the day of adversity, your strength is small – Proverbs 24:10.” The natural tendency for man is to go into apathy if his hope is deferred, or there is some long wait. But this should not be the case for the people of faith who do not see with the physical eyes, but with the eyes of the spirit. As a person of faith, you should have your spirit connected to the Spirit of God, so that even if there is some waiting to do, you would receive signals and grace from the Spirit of God. As you do this, you would realise that you are strengthened in the days of adversity because you will begin to see light at the other end of the tunnel and hope, therefore, will not extinguished. Your tenacity to wait without giving up hope is determined by your spiritual strength. That is to say, the rate at which you give up – throw in the towel in the face of difficult challenges is a measure of your strength. Will you get back to God and refrain from Apathy? Historic Ticker-Tape Parade Honor Awarded to World Champion USWNT When New York City celebrated the dedication of the Statue of Liberty in 1886, former New York governor and then-president Grover Cleveland venerated the occasion with a huge parade in celebration of what was quickly becoming a symbol of the nation’s spirit and integrity. As the marching bands and floats passed the stock market buildings on Wall Street, workers in the buildings threw their ticker-tape, which was an early way to transmit stock market prices and information, out of their windows in spur-of-the-moment show of jubilation. As the streams of thin lines of paper fell onto the city streets, a tradition was born. VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

To Be Continue..........

On July 7, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s National Team would be the first allwomen team to receive such an honor. New York City, like most big cities, has many parades annually. However the tickertape celebration has historically been one of great prestige and stature, and has been reserved to honor kings and queens, Nobel laureates, war heroes, and the like. As the decades passed, sports teams began to be honored with these kinds of events as well. Since U.S. Senator and famed astronaut John Glenn’s ticker-tape parade in 1999, the only other recipients of this special parade have been two New York sports teams: the MLB’s New York Yankees and the NFL’s New York Giants. That Jill Ellis’ intrepid group of triumphant women has been granted this distinction in light of their World Cup success is a wonderful recognition of their status as national heroes. Other women have received ticker-tape parades in the past, such as Olympic medal winners (both men and women were honored). Amelia Earhart received the honor twice, and Gertrude Ederle received the commendation after being the first woman to swim across the English Channel. The most recent woman to receive the honor (without any man present to receive it alongside her) was Carol Heiss in 1960, after winning an Olympic gold medal in figure skating. These ticker-tape parades generally follow a certain path, partying their way down Broadway and through the financial district, through what is commonly referred to as “The Canyon of Heroes.” Though originally office workers in the buildings above would use their supplies of ticker-tape to rain down upon those being celebrated, these days people usually throw confetti and shreds of paper. However, the joyous spirit of this celebration remains. After the team’s victory over Japan in the final of this year’s World Cup set record numbers in viewership and became the most watched soccer game in U.S. history, it is no surprise that the USWNT is being honored in such a way. The NYC ticker-tape parade honoring World Cup Champs is set to take place on Friday, July 10. page 50 VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

This Is Why I Didn’t Tell You He Was Beating Janice Fuller-Roberts

When I fled my abusive relationship for the last time (yes, I left and went back), one of the first things my well-meaning friends and family asked was why I never told them what was happening to me. “Why didn’t you say something,” they’d ask, looking concerned and confused. “I could have helped you. I could have done something!” And I believe them. Had they known how horrible my life had become, I have no doubt that they would have done their best to help me. But all this happened more than twenty years ago. Today, I’m healed, emotionally healthy, and over it—and have the clarity of hindsight to see that my friends and family would have helped me. But back then, not so much. Because when you’re in the thick of things, in the middle of a Hell that you’re convinced is of your own making, you can’t see anything clearly. Fear and shame consume you—they’re your constant companions. And when you look at your family and friends, you often can only see judgment and derision. You know their opinions about women who stay in abusive relationships. page 52 VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITON

Consider this scenario: You have a childhood friend with whom you’ve always been close. Lately, she’s not around as much as she used to be. You assume it’s because she’s all wrapped up in her new relationship. And at first she was. When things were new, she couldn’t get enough of him. They spent nearly every waking moment together. But back then, you still heard from her—she called you. And even though she mostly just bragged about her new love, it didn’t matter. She was happy. Then the calls became less frequent. And when you called her, she’d rush off the phone, sounding hurried and distracted. Mutual friends casually mentioned that they hadn’t seen her in a while. “It’s her new guy,” you’d tell each other. “They’re never apart these days.” Soon you get used to her absence, to not talking to her as often. You miss her, but you don’t want to be that friend who seems like she’s trying to sabotage her new love. One day you bump into her at the grocery store, and you’re shocked by her appearance. She’d always been so meticulous about how she dressed, especially in public. And now she’s wearing sweat pants—she’d never be caught dead wearing those outside of the house or gym! Yet here she is, not only in sweats, but they’re stained, and she’s wearing a baggy T-shirt, her hair, usually perfectly coiffed, now pulled into a sloppy ponytail. Her fingernails are ragged and unpolished. She looks tired. But you’re so happy to see her you pull her into a tight hug. She stiffens in your arms, as though she’s in pain. You let go—surprised. And then you take a really good look at her face. She won’t meet your eyes. Her mouth trembles a little, and her lips are chapped. Is that a fading bruise on her cheek? You’re thinking. No, it must be the lighting. You exchange pleasantries, but you can tell she’s not really engaged in the conversation. You get the feeling that she wants to leave … that she’s not really happy to see you. You feel uncomfortable, but you can’t exactly put your finger on why.

“How are you?” You ask again, only this time you mean it. “Fine,” she answers briskly. “Really, I’m fine. Just in a hurry. I need to get home.” “I won’t keep you, then.” Something tells you she isn’t fine at all. You have an inexplicable urge to pull her into your arms again, but you don’t. Against your better judgment, you ignore your instincts and send her on her way. And in your gut you know that something is terribly wrong with your once outgoing, vivacious, beautiful friend. Here’s what you don’t know: Your friend would love nothing more than to fall into your arms and ask for help. But she won’t. She can’t. She’s too ashamed. As awful as you think she looks, she believes she looks even worse. In a relatively short period of time, her boyfriend has gotten into her head and convinced her that she’s ugly, stupid, and worthless. Your friend no longer puts any effort into her looks because he’ll either accuse her of dressing up for some “other man,” or he’ll just tell her she looks like crap anyway—so there’s no point in trying anymore. Sweatpants are her new best friend. She doesn’t call anymore because she’s embarrassed by her life. That wonderful guy she bragged about in the beginning has turned into a monster. And she knows that if her friends knew how bad things were, they’d think she was just as stupid as he says she is —and maybe she is. After all, she still loves him. So maybe she’s getting exactly what she deserves. At least that’s what she thinks. You don’t see her as much because that’s what abusers do: They isolate their victims from friends and family. They do it subtly, though. He’d never go so far as to say that she isn’t allowed to see you—that’s too direct and he’s much smarter than that. Instead he manipulates her into staying away by doing things like picking a fight with her when she comes home. That way, the next time you invite her out, she’ll decline in order to avoid another fight. Or he’ll accuse her of loving her friends more than him. So that she’ll stay home instead of upsetting him. He uses her love for him like a weapon.

And those fights she’s so eager to avoid? “Fight” isn’t exactly the right word, not when she always ends up sprawled on the floor. At first, it was more yelling than anything. She could hold her own back then. She always did have an acid tongue. But then he became cruel, saying things that cut her to her core. And he twisted her words and used them against her. And all the while, he was playing the wounded one who couldn’t understand how she could treat him so badly when he loved her so much. There were the accusations and recriminations, wild scenarios forged in the deep valleys of his twisted mind. Her smart mouth never stood a chance against his emotional brutality. By the time the first punch landed on her jaw, her psyche had been beaten to a pulp. And don’t be fooled by the shell of a woman you just saw at the grocery store. She used to fight back. She even got a few good punches in, especially that first time. But he’s stronger than her. Bigger than her. He’s been throwing punches all his life and she never even got a spanking as a child, so she never stood a chance against him physically, either. You ask yourself, If it’s so bad for her, why didn’t she say something to me? I was right there! We’ve been friends since childhood. Surely she knows that I would help her! Does she know that, though? Does she really? Or does she look at you, her childhood friend, and remember the time you said, “I don’t understand why women stay with men who hit them”? Remember when the Ray Rice abuse story first broke, and you all were having drinks? Remember what you said? You said, “If a man beats me once, shame on him; if he beats me twice, shame on me. That woman was an idiot for marrying him after what he did to her in that elevator!” Your friend remembers those words. And even though she knows you love and support her, she can’t help but wonder how she’d change in your eyes if you knew what was really happening. Understand that she wants desperately to leave her current situation, but doesn’t know how. She may also be convinced her abuser will hurt whoever does try to help her. Remember, he’s in her head, even when he’s not beating her. Trust your instincts, though. You know your friend. And from that encounter in the store, you know that something is definitely wrong. So please, don’t be afraid to follow up with her.

Start with a phone call. But ease into it: Don’t immediately launch into how you think she’s being abused, or anything like that. If her abuser’s at home when you call, she won’t say anything of substance, anyway. You simply want to convey the message that you’re concerned and want to help. Keep your words loving and gentle—and pressurefree. Say something like, “I know you’re busy now. But when you have a few minutes to yourself, give me a call. I’m worried about you and want to help. I love you.” Keep the call brief, but be clear: You’re worried, you want to help, and you love her. If she doesn’t call back right away, call her again. Keep reaching out to her. Try to reach her when you know she’s alone or at least away from him. Remember, your goal is to help, not endanger her any further. Be prepared for her denials. Shame, guilt, fear, and even worry for your safety will keep her from opening up to you. Just gently remind her that if she’s in the kind of trouble you suspect, she has no reason to be ashamed. You love and respect her, and just want to help. The reality is that gentle persuasion may not work. Real intervention, possibly involving law enforcement may be required. If that’s the case, don’t attempt to handle this on your own. Involve other friends and family, and most importantly, seek professional guidance from the experts. Call the National Domestic Hotline at 1-800-779-7233. Let the experts help you help her. You need to know that an abuse victim leaves her abuser on average seven times before she leaves for good. So, even if your friend leaves this time, she may go back. This is where your friendship will really be tested. You’ll be disappointed and even angry that, after all the work you did to help her escape, she willingly goes back. And your anger is understandable.

But an abuser’s most lethal weapon is his ability to manipulate his victim’s mind. Breaking his hold on your friend will take time, patience, professional help, and a whole lot of hard work on her part. You just have to keep loving and supporting her, even when she disappoints you. Try to resist judging her: It will only make things worse. It’s painful to watch someone you love suffer domestic abuse. It’s also hard to understand why women stay with or return to the men that hurt them. But leaving is far more difficult than people think. Fear, lack of financial resources, and shame are just a few of the reasons women stay (or return). If children are involved, it’s even more complicated. Many women truly have nowhere to go. Shelters fill up fast and are few and far between. And sadly, as far as we’ve come in this country with regards to strengthening laws to protect women, it’s still way too easy for abusers to track down their victims and murder them. So some women just stay, hoping to survive another day. As friends and supporters of abuse victims, we need to be more educated about the dynamics and mechanics of domestic violence. And most of all, we need to shed our own preconceived notions about the victims. They need our support and empathy. I learned that the hard way. I used to sit in judgment of women who stayed with their abusers, too. And I stayed on that high horse until the man I loved knocked me off with a punch. +++++

The statement reversed Mr. Netanyahu’s endorsement of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a 2009 speech at Bar Ilan University, and fulfilled many world leaders’ suspicions that he was never really serious about peace negotiations. If he manages to eke out a fourth term, the new stance would further fray Mr. Netanyahu’s ruinous relationship with the Obama administration and heighten tension with European countries already frustrated with the stalled peace process. “I think that anyone who is going to establish a Palestinian state today and evacuate lands is giving attack grounds to the radical Islam against the state of Israel,” he said in a video interview published on NRG, an Israeli news site that leans to the right. “There is a real threat here that a left-wing government will join the international community and follow its orders.”

Mr. Netanyahu, who is running for his third consecutive term, and fourth overall, is beginning to confront the very real possibility of a political about-face in Israel. “If we do not close the gap in the next few days, there is indeed a danger that Tzipi Livni and Bougie Herzog will be the next prime ministers,” Mr. Netanyahu said in an interview on Israel’s Channel 2 News on Thursday night, referring to Mr. Herzog by his nickname. Political analysts say that the widening gap in the polls could work two ways, infusing the Zionist Union campaign with more momentum or creating a degree of complacency on the left while spurring disenchanted Likud supporters to renew their support for Mr. Netanyahu.

Benjamin Netanyahu In addition, under Israel’s multiparty system, the winner of the election is not necessarily the leader of the largest party but the party leader who has the best chance of forming a governing coalition that will command at least 61 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, or Parliament. Mr. Netanyahu is generally considered to have more of what he calls “natural partners” for a government. Mr. Herzog would have to get some small and medium-size parties that are hostile to each other to agree to sit together. He insists that, given a chance, his talent for team-building will prove itself. Either way, the public dynamic seems to have been shifting against Mr. Netanyahu. In polls published in Friday’s editions of the newspapers Yediot Aharonot and Maariv newspapers, the Zionist Union was projected to win by four seats in the Knesset over Likud — 26 to 22 in Yediot, and 25 to 21 in Maariv. The Maariv poll found that 72 percent of Israelis believe that Israel is in need of a change of direction, regardless of who would be the next prime minister. Mr. Herzog has emerged as an increasingly credible candidate for the post of prime minister in recent weeks, largely capitalizing on Mr. Netanyahu’s failures to address the daily concerns of millions of Israelis over the high cost of living and a lack of reasonably priced housing. Mr. Netanyahu has focused on his credentials as a strong leader best able to protect Israelis against the potential nuclear threat of Iran and other enemies. But even on the security front, Mr. Netanyahu has found himself challenged, with his critics accusing him of fraying Israel’s ties with its most crucial ally, the United States, over the Iranian issue. “You and you alone turned the United States from an ally into an enemy,” Shabtai Shavit, a former chief of the Mossad spy agency, said in a blistering statement addressed to Mr. Netanyahu at a news conference with several other former security chiefs and retired commanders in Tel Aviv this week. page 60

Another retired Mossad chief, Meir Dagan, has also come out of the shadows on a mission to unseat Mr. Netanyahu. At an opposition rally attended by tens of thousands of people in Tel Aviv last Saturday night, Mr. Dagan, who is known to be unwell, captivated the audience by delivering a keynote speech with tears in his eyes. “Israel is surrounded by enemies,” he told the crowd. “Enemies do not scare me; I worry about our leadership.” He said what he most feared was “a lack of vision, a lack of direction and determination, and a dearth of exemplary leadership.” In Mr. Netanyahu’s interview on Channel 2, part of a hurried media blitz meant to try to turn the electoral tide, the prime minister retorted that Mr. Dagan’s complaints “did not get in his way of asking me twice to extend his position under my leadership as prime minister.” Mr. Netanyahu acknowledged that he had made mistakes by not doing enough to control the cost of living, and he promised to flood Israel with apartments if reelected. Despite the Likud campaign’s efforts to avoid public criticism of Mr. Netanyahu during his visit to the Mahane Yehuda market, one vendor did manage to register a personal protest. Mr. Netanyahu stopped at a coffee shop and ordered a cappuccino, which he paid for with a 100-shekel bill, worth about $25. The coffee shop owner later told Israeli television that she had given him 87 shekels back in small coins to remind him that while he speaks about Iran, “we, the independent business owners in the country, are conscious of the daily difficulties of getting by, even for small change.” page 61 VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

Victims of Human TraďŹƒcking Victims

At any given time, millions of people are trapped in modern-day slavery through human trafficking. Women, children and men across the globe find themselves being enslaved in forced labour and domestic servitude, sexually exploited or used as child soldiers. According to the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, human trafficking is defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation includes, at the minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of other or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs. Human Trafficking has become a global enterprise affecting nearly ever country in the world. It is a crime that shames us all. Sadly, indications point toward most trafficked persons as never being formally identified - a cruel twist which denies them assistance when they most critically need it. In a bid to provide help and support to those most affected, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has launched the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking. Administered by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Victims' Trust Fund facilitates actual, on-the-ground humanitarian, legal and financial aid to victims of trafficking through a range of avenues, including governmental, intergovernmental and civil society organizations. The Victims' Trust Fund has one primary objective: to provide the opportunity for people from all walks of life including governments, the private sector, international organizations, NGOs and individuals to work together to provide practical and effective solutions to assist victims of human trafficking across the globe. page 62 VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

Human trafficking. For the purpose of exploitation.

human trafficking is a modern term for slavery. Anytime a person is held in a forced labor situation, regardless of the reason, it is defined as human trafficking.

The United Nations defines human trafficking as “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.” Experts have noted that human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal activity in the world and one of the most lucrative. Overall the International Labour Organization estimated the human trafficking industry at over $31 billion per year in 2005. Some estimate that as many as 29 million people exist in slavery worldwide, more than twice the number of slaves transported during the entire Trans-Atlantic slave trade The problem is clearly large and growing. What does the Bible teach about human trafficking? This question cannot adequately be answered without a clear understanding of God’s value of human life. The Bible records that when God created humans, He created them in His image (Genesis 1:26). Every life is of infinite value and God loves all individuals. As a result, God teaches love for our neighbor (Matthew 19:19) as well as love for those in need (Luke 10:25-37). Jesus was the one who taught the Golden Rule: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12). Further, Proverbs 31:8-9 teaches us to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” These principles certainly all apply to those hurt through the illegal practice of human trafficking. page 63 Continue on page ......64

Second, we must speak out on behalf of those in need (Proverbs 31:8-9). Those in our schools, businesses, churches, and community often are unaware of the problem of human trafficking and how to help. Perhaps God is calling you to be one of the people who would speak out and help provide justice to those without a voice in this area. Third, we must act to help those in bondage. These actions can involve a variety of means, ranging from volunteering in an anti-trafficking organization to financial giving to teaching about the topic where you live. A growing number of organizations have emerged in recent years that provide new opportunities for Christians to serve in this area. International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) provides many international opportunities, while others, such at Mercy Movement (www.mercymovement.com) concentrate on addressing the issue in the United States. One additional way to provide practical assistance is through supporting fair trade and survivormade products. Fair trade products include items sold by those who adhere to practices that remove any unfair labor practices, especially slavery. Coffee, teas, chocolate, and fresh flowers are common products that offer fair trade alternatives to help keep slavery out of the supply chain. The retail chain Ten Thousand Gifts is an example of this practice applied to an entire store, while the Christian organization Worldcrafts (www.worldcrafts.org) offers the opportunity to buy international gifts from artisans who have escaped slave situations and other poverty-related conditions. In summary, human trafficking is a gross indignity against men, women, and children who have been created in God’s image. As followers of Christ, we have a responsibility to pray, to speak out against human trafficking and modern slavery, and to live in ways that help create change in the lives of those impacted by this tragic crime. page 64

Secession, the Confederate Flag, and Slavery

In this commentary, Paul Finkelman, a Scholar-in-Residence at the National Constitution Center, looks at the renewed debate over the southern motivation for secession at the Civil War’s start, and how it was driven by slavery and white supremacy. The controversies over the Confederate flag has raised, once again, debates over the reasons for the Civil War and secession. At the beginning of the War the Lincoln Administration’s primary goal was to preserve the Union. A year-and-ahalf into the War the administration also made the destruction of slavery a war aim. So, it is possible to argue that the cause of the War, from the northern perspective, was initially to preserve the Union. But what was the cause of secession, and what led Confederates to start the war by attacking Fort Sumter? The answer is found in the speeches of Confederate politicians and in the statements of the four southern secession conventions that published a “Declaration” explaining their actions. These speeches and documents show that the South seceded to protect slavery and insure white supremacy in the South. Just listen to what southern leaders said between December 1860 and March 1861. In March 1861, after secession but before the Civil War broke out, Alexander H. Stephens, the Confederate vice president and one of the most perceptive and brightest men in the Confederate government, forcefully set out the reasons for secession and the creation of the Confederacy in his famous “Cornerstone Speech.” Here, Stephens tied slavery to race, making clear that the cornerstone of the Confederacy was not merely chattel slavery, but also on the assumption of the racial and ethnic superiority of the ruling class and the utter inferiority and subordination of blacks. Thus Stephens declared that, “Our new government is founded upon . . . its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery – subordination to the superior race – is his natural and normal condition.” Stephens denounced the northern claims (which he incorrectly attributed to Thomas Jefferson) that the “enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally, and politically.” He unabashedly asserted: “Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea.” Stephens argued that it was “insanity” to believe “that the negro is equal” or “that slavery was wrong.” He proudly predicted that the Confederate Constitution “has put at rest, forever, all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institution-African slavery as it exists amongst us-the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization.” page 66 VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

Surprising things we've learned about Pluto and its moons

A photo of Pluto taken by New Horizons on July 13, 2015.

Before New Horizons arrived at Pluto, many researchers expected to find a world pocked by craters, but what they got was very different — a surface that was much smoother, and therefore younger, than anticipated. The ice mountains of Pluto actually seem to be quite young, at only about 100 million years old — a blink of the eye in the history of our 4.5 billion-year-old solar system — NASA says. From earlier research, scientists know that solar system bodies are impacted at a certain rate over the course of their planetary evolution, so on dead worlds — worlds without geological activities — planetary scientists expect to see a high number of craters. On other planets, like Earth, those craters are re-shaped and molded over by geological activities like plate tectonics and volcanism.

Charleston Shooting Leaves 9 Dead at AME Church, Gunman in Custody Jun 18, 2015, 12:12 PM ET By LIZ KREUTZ, TOM LIDDY, MEGHAN KENEALLY and EMILY SHAPIRO LIZ KREUTZ

Nine people died in an "unfathomable" act of violence at a historic predominantly black Charleston, South Carolina, church Wednesday evening when a gunman opened fire during a prayer service in what police describe as a "hate crime." Charleston police Chief Greg Mullen said eight people were found dead inside the church after the shooting unfolded at the Emanuel AME Church around 9 p.m. Two other people were rushed to the hospital, where one died, making it the deadliest mass shooting in the United States since 12 people were killed inside the Washington Navy Yard in September 2013. The alleged gunman, identified as Dylann Roof, 21, was arrested today in North Carolina at a traffic stop. The Rev. Clementa Pinckney, church pastor and a South Carolina state senator, was among the dead. Six other victims were identified as Rev. Sharonda Singleton, retired pastor Dr. Daniel L. Simmons, Ethel Lee Lance, Cynthia Hurd, Myra Thompson and recent college graduate Tywanza Sanders. "It is senseless," Mullen said at a news conference Wednesday evening. "It is unfathomable that somebody would walk into a church when people are having a prayer meeting and take their lives." VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, built in 1891, is the oldest of its kind in the South, according to their website. It is listed among the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places. The house of worship, led by Pinckney, has played a role in the civil rights movement. Coretta Scott King led an estimated group of 1,500 demonstrators there during a protest in 1969 and they faced down national guardsmen, according to reports of the incident. Outside the Courtyard Marriott, down the street from the church, a group of pastors gathered to pray. "We need that peace, Lord," members of the prayer circle were heard saying. "We need that peace you talk about in your word." Rev. Dr. Norvel Goff Sr., presiding elder for the AME’s Edisto District, which includes Emanuel AME Church, said a prayer service is scheduled for noon at Morris Brown AME Church in Charleston. Goff said he wasn’t aware of any recent threats against the church.

Sadness, Shock Following Charleston Church Shooting

South Carolina Church Shooting Sparks Outpouring of Grief Authorities confirmed that there were survivors who were inside the church at the time of the shooting. It was unclear how many survived. Charleston Mayor Joe Riley said, “The only reason someone would walk into church and shoot people praying is hate. He met with some of the families and described it as the "most heart-breaking scene I have ever witnessed." U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a statement today: "There are bad people in this world who are motivated by hate. Every decent person has been victimized by the hateful, callous disregard for human life shown by the individual who perpetrated these horrible acts. Our sense of security and well-being has been robbed and shaken." The NAACP also expressed its condolences for the families of the victims. "The NAACP was founded to fight against racial hatred and we are outraged that 106 years later, we are faced today with another mass hate crime," NAACP president Cornell William Brooks said. "There is no greater coward than a criminal who enters a house of God and slaughters innocent people engaged in the study of scripture."

CHURCH RESPONDING TO NEEDS IN NEPAL CHURCH RESPONDING TO NEEDS IN NEPAL On 25, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook central Nepal, destroying entire communities, killing more than 8,000 people, displacing more than 500,000 people, and leaving millions in need of hope and security. Weeks later, on May 12, a 7.3-magnitude quake also struck eastern Nepal, near Mt. Everest. Now, Nepal no longer shows up as a news headline. But the Church of the Nazarene continues to respond.

In the weeks following the earthquakes, the church in Nepal distributed more than 25 tons of relief aid. Food, water filters, tents, and tarps were delivered to communities in need where people were without the most basic needs. Now, the church is walking alongside families and communities as they transition from relief to recovery. The most immediate priority is to help vulnerable families rebuild their homes. Next, the church will work to expand its already successful child-focused community development model, which combines child development centers for children and opportunities for families to interrupt the cycle of poverty through activities such as self-help groups, small business development, backyard gardens, and life skills training. Together, these will help address the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of children and their families. VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION

Loretta Lynch Confirmed as New Attorney General Apr. 23, 2015 2:04pm Pete Kasperowicz

While Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was in the Senate earlier in the day, he was the only member of the chamber not to vote. Cruz had opposed Lynch. A spokeswoman for Cruz downplayed the missed vote by saying “if the Senate could get 60 votes for cloture, they could get 51 for final confirmation.” Cloture was the vote to end debate earlier in the day, when the Senate voted to end debate on the Lynch nomination by a 66-34 vote. “Cloture is the only vote that mattered,” Cruz spokeswoman Amanda Carpenter tweeted. Much of the GOP’s opposition to Lynch was due to her support for Obama’s executive action on immigration. During her confirmation hearing, Lynch said she believes Obama’s plan was consistent with the Constitution, drawing outrage from Republicans who have said it’s an endrun around Congress. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the most vocal Republican against Obama’s plan, said the Senate shouldn’t confirm Lynch to be the nation’s top law enforcement officer given her support for what he has called an illegal move by Obama. “The Senate must never confirm an individual to such an office as this who will support and advance a scheme that violates our Constitution and eviscerates established law and congressional authority,” he said Thursday. “No person who would do that should be confirmed. And we don’t need to be apologetic about it, colleagues.” However, it became clear a few weeks ago that Lynch had just enough GOP support to pass the Senate by a simple majority. The vote followed several months of delay in the Senate, prompting Democrats to argue that Lynch was the most-delayed attorney general nominee ever. Republicans argued that it was Democrats who agreed to start the confirmation process this year, instead of late 2014. VOICES OF THE WIND 4TH EDITION
