God made the world and us

GENESIS 1:1-2:4

God made the world and he made us. God made everything perfectly.

Long ago, at the very beginning, God was there. God made the first light shine in the darkness.

God made the mountains and waterfalls, the sea and the land. God made all the plants and animals. God made people to look after the world. Everything in God’s world was good.

PRAYER

Thank you that you made our beautiful world, and that you made me. Amen.

Noah’s ark

GENESIS 6:5-9:19

Noah made God happy, just as we should do.

The world filled with people, and the people started to hurt each other.

God decided to wash the world clean.

Noah loved God and listened to him.

God told Noah to build a huge ark.

Noah and his family and all the animals that God sent were safe in the ark when the rain came.

PRAYER

Thank you that you forgive me for all the bad things that I do. I also want to make you happy. Amen.

Abraham, Sarah and Isaac

GENESIS 12, 15, 18, 21

We are all part of God’s family because of his promise to Abraham.

God chose Abraham and Sarah to follow him and to make the world good again. Their family would fill the earth with followers of God.

Abraham and Sarah trusted God. They had no children of their own. Then, when Sarah was old enough to be a gran, she had her own baby. His name was Isaac. He was the start of their very big family who followed God.

PRAYER

Thank you that you always keep your promises. Thank you that I am part of your family. Amen.

Moses in the basket

EXODUS 1:8-10, 22; 2:1-10

God gave Moses a new home where he could grow up safely.

A while later, God’s chosen people from Abraham’s family had become slaves in Egypt.

God chose Moses to lead God’s Israelites out of Egypt.

When the bad king of Egypt decided to kill all the Israelite baby boys, God helped. He helped baby Moses’ mother and sister to save little Moses.

Later, when Moses was grown up, he led the Israelites out of Egypt.

PRAYER

Thank you for looking after me and keeping me safe. Amen.

David and Goliath

1 SAMUEL 17

God always helps us to do his work.

The Israelites were afraid!

One of the enemy soldiers was huge – a giant.

But a young boy called David was not scared. David loved God and trusted him to help.

David went out to fight the giant. He threw a stone and the giant fell down! God helped David and the Israelites to win.

Thank you that you help me when I need to do difficult things. Amen.

Daniel and the lions

DANIEL 6

Daniel was faithful to God and God saved him.

Daniel loved God very much and prayed every day. Other people didn’t like it.

They made a law: if you prayed to God you would be put in the lions’ den. Still, Daniel would not stop praying. So, he was thrown into the lions’ den. God protected Daniel and kept him safe.

PRAYER

Thank you, God, that Daniel never stopped praying or believing in you. Amen.

Jesus is born

LUKE 2:1-20

God sent his only Son to save us and make us happy.

Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem. They were tired but the only place to stay was a stable. Baby Jesus was born that night.

There were shepherds looking after their sheep nearby. The angels told the shepherds that God’s son Jesus had been born. The shepherds were very happy and went to visit Jesus and his family. The angels sang praises to God.

PRAYER

Thank you, God, that you sent your Son, Jesus, to us. Amen.

Jesus catches fish

LUKE 5:1-11 MATTHEW 4:18-22

Jesus chooses ordinary people to be his disciples.

Peter and his friends were fishermen.

One day, they went fishing but they caught no fish at all.

Jesus told Peter, “Try again, and you’ll catch fish.” The friends went out in their boat again. This time there were a lot of fish!

Peter was amazed. Jesus told Peter and his friends to come with him to teach people about God.

PRAYER

Thank you that you have also chosen me to be your disciple. Amen.

Jesus calls the children

MARK 10:13-15

God loves each and every one of his children –big and small.

One day, a group of mothers brought their little ones to Jesus. The children were so excited! But Jesus’ helpers said, “Go away!”

Jesus said, “No, do not chase them away! Come here!”

The children were very happy and Jesus prayed for them. Jesus loves children! Children are important to God.

PRAYER

I am glad that I am important to you, even though I am young. Amen.

The man who could not walk

MARK 2:1-12

God gives us friends to help us.

There was a man who couldn’t walk. His friends took him to see Jesus.

When they got to the house where Jesus was, it was full of people. So, they made a hole in the roof. They lowered their friend down to Jesus.

Jesus said, “Stand up, pick up your bed, and walk!”

And the man did! Everyone was very happy and thanked God.

PRAYER

Thank you for giving me good friends. I am so happy that you are my friend too.

The loaves and fish

JOHN 6:1-15

God takes care of us, and we must take care of other people.

Many people gathered to hear Jesus talk about God. They got hungry, but no one had food.

Jesus’ helpers found a little boy with five little loaves of bread and two fish. The boy shared his food. Jesus thanked God for the food. Then he shared it with everyone and there was more than enough. It was a miracle!

PRAYER

Thank you for helping the people when they were hungry. I also want to help other people. Amen.

Jesus is alive!

JOHN 20:1-18 LUKE 24:1-12

Because Jesus died on the cross, my sins are forgiven.

Jesus came to help people, and many loved him. But some were afraid of him and they hurt him. They put him on a cross, and he died.

Mary Magdalen went to see Jesus’ grave but it was empty.

She turned around and saw a man.

It was Jesus! He was alive!

Mary told everyone the good news: “Jesus is alive!”

PRAYER
I am so happy that you are alive. Now I know that nothing is impossible for you. Amen.
