CHARISSA NGUYEN CAL-NEV-HA KIWIN’S DISTRICT TREASURER
Hiya CNH KIWIN’S, Summer is officially over for most of us, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops… especially with Dues Season right around the corner, it’s all very exciting! For the new members, membership dues are an annual fees that makes you an official member of Key Club International and the KIWIN’S District! That means you get an official membership pin and handbook, and you get to attend events like Fall Rally and District Convention. These are all opportunities you definitely don’t want to miss out on. For the returning members, school starting again means more club meetings (my favorite) and new members (also my favorite). But let’s be real, it won’t be easy… How do you show a potential member that KIWIN’S is the best decision they will make in their life? How do you convince a potential member that the $13.50 for dues is a small price to pay for the ohana you will gain? You and I both love KIWIN’S with all our hearts, but trying to explain these emotions is so difficult. However, I’m confident that I will see club memberships soar this year, especially from the passionate members like yourself. Let’s work hard to recruit as many members as we can and hopefully reach our membership goal of 2,600. Best of luck! In the spirit of service, Charissa Nguyen
NHA DANG CAL-NEV-HA KIWIN’S DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION CHAIR
Hello CNH KIWIN’S Grizzlies! I’m Nha Dang, and I’m serving as your District Membership Development and Education Chair. I’m currently a Senior, and I go to Segerstrom High School from Jet Division (woo!). To introduce myself further, I was a past Vice President from the 2014-2015 term, and a President from the 2015-2016 term. I really love movies (like The Giver and Timelapse) and shows (like Young and Hungry), so if you have any movie/show suggestions, I would love to hear them! I like adventuring around, trying new food places, and, of course, getting a little fatter each time. I don’t do much, but I do like getting involved and speaking of that… Can you believe it’s already been four months since the term started? I’m so excited for this Back to School Season because although academics can be stressful, I have KIWIN’S to cheer me up. I love seeing and hearing about all the clubs recruiting new members and divisions chartering new clubs. The goal this year is to charter one club per division (for an end goal of 45 clubs), and so far, looking at everyone’s progress, I really believe that we can achieve this. Throughout the year, the District releases so many resources, and I recommend you take full advantage of this. Get those overlays. Print those flyers. Share those videos. Just spread the word about our organization in anyway that you can. As Club Rush arrives (or for some, has already passed), show members the ohana that we are. Reach out to them, and don’t be afraid to show your spirit. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to message or email me whenever! Plus, I mostly reply within ten minutes, which I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed of… I look forward to meeting you all whether it’s Fall Rally, District Convention, or at the occasional event! In the Spirit of Service, Nha Dang

For the month of August, we had the Beach Palooza (WOO HOO!!), where the Crystal KIWIN’S went out of their ways to participate in various ice-breakers and friendly activities with the other divisions there. It first started off with mandated (yet fun) ice-breaker activities, where people got into an inner circle and an outer circle and introduced themselves to new people. Then we got into this game in a big circle where people were running around crazy as certain people were told to talk about themselves in the center of the circle. After the ice-breaking activities, everyone got to do whatever they wanted; generally, people either just sat around in shade and socialized, or they went into the water with friends and just had fun. In addition to that, people were buying ice cream for a dollar or they were paying in order to get the opportunity to smack someone's face with pie. After all that came the bus ride home. Of course it didn't necessarily end there. From the bus stop, most of the Crystal KIWIN’S went Korean BBQing (although no one from Bravo went D:). Overall, the August month was pretty eventful for KIWIN’S. Yay!

KIWANIS DISTRICT CONVENTION
M A HM O OD B A S HI R LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR HALL OF FAME AWARD
Kiwanis DCON 2016 was such a great experience. From my first time in Vegas, to the very cool very spacious hotel room and bathtub , and even the car ride to and from with the amazing Mr. G, Kiwanis DCON was one for the books. It is such an eye opener to be able to see how the other branches of the Kiwanis family function and how , for the most part , they are just like us, only maybe not so loud in their cheers hehe. I along with 3 other district board members had the distinct pleasure of being able to meet so many Kiwanians from all over the Cal-Nev-Ha District and talk to them about what CNH KIWIN’S is. You’d be surprised how many had no clue about us! All in all Kiwanis DCON was such a great learning and exciting experience. #iamkiwanis -Belen Bravo, Kiwanis Family and Foundation Chair
Kiwanis DCON was the most fun, educated, and heart whelming trip I've ever been on, no words can describe how grateful I am to have gone and spent it with amazing Kiwanians!! -Grisel Meza, Ruby Divison Lieutenant Governor
