CLUB RUSH MANUAL created by allison ngo and pauline dang

LETTER FROM YOUR MD&E Hi, everyone! It’s me (again), your MD&E! First off, I’d like to thank all of you for taking the time to read through this manual to make YOUR school’s Club Rush successful for the upcoming school year! Without the help of you guys and all the creative ideas you all put forth for Club Rush, CNH KIWIN’S Key Club wouldn’t be the thriving organization that it is today, so thank you! Now, whether you’re a veteran or a newbie at Club Rush, I’m ecstatic to see what you guys will surprise me with this year, and with that, I, along with the MD&E Committee are here to lend a helping hand! Along with this manual, several other Club Rush resources will be released and organized in a Google Drive folder (which will be linked in this manual) for anyone to access! Whether you utilize them or draw inspiration from them is all up to you and how YOU want to stand out at Club Rush! If you have any questions or concerns, I will be more than happy to help out! Just shoot me an email at kiwins.memdev@gmail.com, message me on Facebook, or text me! I can’t wait to see all the buzz from our District’s Club Rushes and I wish you all the best!

ALLISON NG O ‘18-’19 MD& E

Yours in Service, Allison Ngo Membership Development and Education Chair

WHAT’S CLUB RUSH? What is Club Rush? Club Rush is an school event and time at the beginning of the school year where clubs are able to show off their individuality and uniqueness and attract new potential members with booths, tri-folds about their club, posters, and so on! Why is it important? Club Rush is the time of the year where there is the largest group of curious students who are looking to join a club are likely to be recruited. Therefore, it’s crucial that your club has an exciting and successful Club Rush in order to pull in as many new members as possible to start off the new school year on good footing!

PREPARATIONS! Have a tri-fold that is loaded with information and pictures about KIWIN’S! Some things that would be important to include are:

Mission Statement KIWIN’S and KCI Logos District Projects (PTP, L2L, Thirst Project) Optional: officers and days/time of general meetings Pictures! From your club’s service events, fundraisers, socials, District events, etc!

If you want to hand out flyers to members, make sure to communicate with your officers to see what you want to show with your flyers and who will design and print the flyers!

Want to use these flyers? Find them in the Club Rush folder here: http://bit.ly/2NOR9yj

OTHER CLUB RUSH SUPPLIES (OPTIONAL) ! S ’ N I KIWIN’S! KIWIN’S! KIW

LAPTOP (play club recap videos)

PHOTOFRAME / BOOTH

STICKERS / RAFFLE TICKETS

POSTERS (grab people’s attention)

WRISTBANDS

CANDY

FLAGS / SPIRIT STICKS

BALLOONS

FACE PAINT

CLUB CLUB RUSH RUSH DAY! DAY! Cheer your heart out! Show off how spirited KIWIN’S is by cheering and having spirit battles with other clubs! But also remember to get students involved in the cheering and not scare them off!

Reach out to people! Don’t wait for students to go to your booth on their own because they might be too shy, so take the initiative and go up to them, ask them for their names, and make them feel included while you explain your club to them! Whether they’re under or upperclassmen, reach out to them and give them a reason to join!

Be prepared. Make sure you’re ready to explain and answer any questions that potential members may have. If they point to your tri-fold and ask what District Convention is, or why they have to pay dues, make sure you know how to answer them and show how their contributions will help! Refer to our FAQ page for help!

HOW TO STAND OUT Be loud and be proud! Hold up posters and walk around the campus to attract people! Even try carrying flyers and handing them out to people!

Who doesn’t like candy? The answer is no one, so try attracting students to your booth by leaving out candy for them to take! While they’re at your booth, take that chance to reach out and start talking to them!

Can’t use candy? Try raffle tickets! Advertise potential free prizes they can win if they attend the first general meeting (like KIWIN’S merchandise)! Hand out a ticket to each person that signs up!
