introduction Hi Grizzlies!!!!! Happy Valentine’s Day! The only kind of sweets I’ll be getting are the sweet sensations of satisfaction after a service event. I can’t wait to see everyone at District Convention! Elections, dancing, spirit, and service; what more could a grizzly ask for? I know for a fact that DCON will be a blast, so if you’re interested in attending, please reach out to your Club President! For ways to fundraiser or how to register, you can refer to the available DCON Manuals made by our wonderful Convention Chair, Jenna Nguyen. With that being said, there are only two months left to this term. We have two months to finish everything we’ve hoped to accomplish and to make the biggest impact on our community around us. Everyone has worked so hard to pour their hearts out into this organization and I can’t wait to see our final achievements. Yours in service, Nina Nguyen CNH KIWIN’S District Governor

JANUARY GEM OF THE MONTH MARA CERVANTES (RUBY)
Where do I begin? Well it's been about two years since I've started my KIWIN'S journey. When I think of all the great experiences I've had at service events, club meetings, officer meetings, Fall Rally, and DCON. I think of all the people I've spent my time with in KIWIN'S and my journey wouldn't be complete without all my friends that have shared those moments with me because they are part of my KIWIN'S journey. We have accomplished so many things together and I think there are no limits to what we can accomplish except the limits we place on our own thinking. I'll be a Senior in a couple months, which means that it'll be the last year as a highschooler which goes the same as saying it'll be my last year in KIWIN'S. I'll think of all the memories and experiences as my KIWIN'S journey comes to a stop because even though it will technically end once I graduate. I as my own individual will be proud to have gotten the opportunity to be in KIWIN'S as I transition into a new chapter in life, adulthood.

FEBRUARY GEM OF THE MONTH DINA VUE (SAPPHIRE)
KIWIN'S has taught me a lot of things as being president. I had an amazing experience. I went through a lot of hard obstacles this year with my club that I got to learn from and that I want to pass onto the next president. It has shaped me to understanding and learning more about KIWIN'S than just being a member. I learned being president was an honor for me and all the stress and hardship that I went through with my club was worth it.I learned that every hard obstacles that you go through is worth going through it because in the end you learn and get influenced by it. It opened my eyes to see that KIWIN'S isn't only a club for you and friends to have fun in but it's also like your second family and also you get to make the community happy and be thankful for having you. Things that I love about KIWIN'S is that I love how we help the community and each other. I love how we get to meet new people from different clubs. I love how my officers are always coming up with ideas, goals, and fundraisers even at difficult times because they are putting their hard work and effort into KIWIN'S to make our club better. No matter what, in the end everyone is happy and grateful for being in this club and so am I.

Thorns!” After a strenuous hour long bus ride with goofballs from different school clubs, Fountain Valley KIWIN’s arrived at the huge warehouse where millions of roses awaited. Once everyone was situated with matching volunteer shirts marked with the “Kiwanis” logo, advisors and event organizers put most of the clubs together in a station off to the side of the warehouse. It was instructed to have about 4-6 people at each table with individual tasks to cut and prepare the roses onto foam boards to be transferred to the floats. From 4 pm to 6 pm, Fountain Valley KIWIN’s as well as other clubs from Jet Division worked hard in cutting flowers with a groan as every new pack of roses was delivered to the tables. This was an exhausting task for any position for the weather was harshly cold and volunteers were dealing with sharp tools and thorns. After a long couple hours, everyone gathered outside for mexican food and hot chocolate before re-entering the gloomy work area. Although, everyone was miserable cutting roses,FV KIWIN’s pulled through because we were all together to support and motivate. In the end, watching the Pasadena Rose Parade on TV on New Year’s Day became extremely rewarding to everyone because if it weren’t for us and the many hours of labor, there wouldn’t be that many beautiful rose floats for the community to view!

featured feb ARF kidSTREAM // RANCHO CAMPANA, TURQUOISE Thrilled to be involved in the character development of younger demographics, the Rancho Campana High School KIWIN’S jumped at the opportunity to participate at a kidSTREAM event for the second time this year. Earlier in the term, the KIWINNERS participated at a similar event hosted by kidSTREAM, and they were happy to return and serve. KidSTREAM is an organization that teaches kids about science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics, thus the name. RCHS KIWIN’S had six members show up to volunteer, and 18.5 service hours were obtained. Although the turnout for the event was on the smaller side for RCHS KIWIN’S, the group certainly served with passion, and they made up with spirit what they lacked in numbers. The volunteers served the R for Reading kidSTREAM event by setting up and preparing various stations at the kidSTREAM Children’s Museum that children in the community could participate and learn from. The event was particularly memorable, because it gave the Rancho Campana KIWIN’S chance to meet potential KIWIN’S members of the future and inspire them to pursue fields of study involving STREAM. All in all, the event went smoothly, and the KIWINNERS had a great time serving their community. Aside from the need for sunscreen to prevent a sunburn, the event and day couldn’t have been more perfect. The KIWINNERS would be beyond delighted to see any of the kids from the service event become future members of KIWIN’S. And the Rancho Campana High School KIWIN’S look forward to returning to another kidSTREAM event in the future.
