Greetings, KIWIN’S District Key Clubbers! Not only did ICON 2016 mark the end to an amazing Key Club service year, but it also denoted the end to one of the most amazing years of my life. At ICON 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, my term as an International Trustee to the Carolinas, Missouri-Arkansas, and Pacific Northwest Districts came to an end. Now, I am thrilled to announce that I had the distinct honor of being elected to the office of Key Club International President. You gave me your trust and I will not let you down. Together, we will revolutionize Key Club for the better. Together, we will see improved service, a stronger Kiwanis family, and increase expansion. When Key Clubbers of the future look back, they will remember the 2016-2017 service year as the defining moment during which Key Club rose to its fullest potential. This year, your International Board and I will be working diligently to put our newly announced strategic plan into action. The strategic plan is a set of guidelines by which our organization will operate for the next five years. Your International Vice President, Mary Grace, and I have decided to focus on three main objectives: education, the Kiwanis Family, and expansion. Our two international committees for this year directly reflect those objectives. The Committee for Service and Education will be reviewing the entirety of the Key Club and Kiwanis Family resource library while also hosting fundamental webinars for different groupings of Key Clubbers. The Committee for Growth and Communication will be working with Kiwanis to build our organization in countries across the world while also bolstering Kiwanis Family relationships. Together, these two committees will drive the focuses of Key Club International as an entity for the 2016-2017 service year. I am absolutely thrilled to see what this year has in store for Key Club International. I foresee potential not only for organizational growth, but also for personal and individual growth. Throughout the year, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at presidentdevinsun@gmail.com. Your voice absolutely matters when it comes to serving the 270,000 strong membership of Key Club International. Yours in caring and service,

Devin Sun Key Club International President

MARY GRACE LEWIS 2 0 1 6 - 2 0 1 7 K E Y CLUB I NTER NATI ONAL V I CE PR ES I DENT

Aloha, Key Clubbers! I am so incredibly honored and humbled to have been given the opportunity to serve as your International Vice President for the 2016-17 term. Key Club has provided me with so many opportunities, so many memories, and so many friendships, and I hope that I can work hard to ensure that each and every one of you is able to do the same. I am from the California-Nevada-Hawaii District, home of the Buzzing Bees, and I live near the Los Angeles area - Burbank, to be exact, which is where Ellen is shot! My favorite things to do include drinking coffee, rereading the Harry Potter books, and singing along to Hamilton in the car. This year, we want to make sure that Key Clubbers know all the service opportunities available to them. So, we plan on updating and broadening our Service Directory, and giving Key Clubbers the opportunity to share service events that they participated in, which they found to be fun, exciting, or unique, in order to offer inspiration to other members around the world. I also want to focus on strengthening the bond between Key Club and the other branches of our Kiwanis Family, as well as strengthening communication between Key Clubs outside of North America. This is going to be amazing year, Key Clubbers! Never hesitate to reach out to me if you ever have any questions, any advice on how I could be serving you better, or just want to chat. My contact info is below. Thank you! Mary Grace Lewis Key Club International Vice President mglewis.kc.ivp@gmail.com (213) 604-7517

JOJO SAUNDERS INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE / NEW YORK, NEBRASKA-IOWA, CNH KIWIN’S

Hello Key Clubbers! My name is JoJo Saunders, and I’m honored to be serving the New York, Nebraska-Iowa, and California-Nevada-Hawaii KIWIN’S Districts this year as an International Trustee. A little bit about myself, I come from the Pacific Northwest District, where I served as District Editor last year. Graphic Design, Photography, and Videography are some of my biggest hobbies, and I was elated to be able to serve the organization I love by doing some of the things I love as well. Besides that I’m a huge coffee addict, with a place for Avatar: The Last Airbender in my heart. As a trustee, my job consists of providing assistance to the governors and the board that I serve, while acting as a liaison from the international level to the district level. The international board focuses on tackling on issues that our entire organization faces, interpreting the Guidebook, and informing districts about how the International level is performing. My goals as a trustee focus on helping streamline resources Key Club provides, in order to ensure that members can access resources that they need faster, while also working with the districts I’d be assigned too to develop stronger sister district connections. These goals are meant to help ease the process for members in terms of educating Key Clubbers, while also encouraging different districts to learn from each other and collaborate with one another. Of course, I am always here for any of you that need me! If you have any questions about international or just want to talk, feel free to contact me at jojosaunders.kci@gmail.com! In love and service, JoJo Saunders Key Club International Trustee

In the month of July, the Downey High School KIWIN'S have been ripe with events from fundraising with Kiwanis, flourishing their high school, fulfilling the needs of the homeless, and funding for a good cause. The dusk of the month started off running as the KIWIN's lent a helping hands with the local Kiwanis club. They had gotten into the patriotic spirit and sold fireworks from the 2nd to the 4th of July, working up to 12 hours a day by Telegraph . Not only were the DHS KIWIN'S in a helping mood, they were joined by the Santa Fe KIWIN'S, along with St. Pius X/St. Matthias Academy. The days were hot, and the spirit was high. We had time to relax, but our service wasn't over. With the beginning of the 2016-2017 year rolling in, Sebastian Aranque hosted a cleanup for the bleachers of the visitors side of the Downey High School Bleachers. It may not have seemed like much, but it felt great knowing that even the visitors might feel more at home. The 21st of July was a calm day, and it allowed us to reflect on our community and the way we impacted everyone's lives, no matter who they were. So, with the help of the Santa Fe High School KIWIN'S, we went to a local Homeless Shelter in Norwalk. Special thanks to Raymond Reyes, a helpful assistant to the KIWIN'S was glad to help by preparing Hawaiian themed chicken and rice, which everyone loved. The final collaborative event with the Santa Fe KIWIN's was a horror movie night held at the Bellflower Kiwanis Hall on the 27th of July. The 5 dollar entrance fee went straight to help PTP, and the KIWIN'S had raised over 60 dollars in donations. By enlarge, the month of July was a tiring month full of long days out in the sun or next to a burning hot barbecue. But it seemed to be worth the trouble to see cars honking, cheering us on. To see the beauty we can make to our school. To see the faces of the homeless light up as we give them a beautiful meal. And end it all with a relaxing night out.

-Megan Modina, Emerald Lieutenant Governor I definitely feel like ICON was the culmination of my Key Club experience so far. It was an indescribable learning experience -- meeting people from all over the U.S. and even the world and truly encountering what it is to be in Key Club through amazing workshops, speakers, and the environment as a whole. You really feel part of something huge and something so, so special. Hearing about all the incredible service all of us are doing through the same organization and under the same purpose is so inspiring and honestly the amount of true inclusiveness I experienced is something I’ll remember forever. I made some awesome friends and even more awesome memories -- and I’ve never been so proud to be a part of the CNH KIWIN’S District of Key Club International. -Erinn Lee, Jet Lieutenant Governor

FINAL THOUGHTS

Going to ICON this year was truly an eye-opener. Besides celebrating a year of service, I got to meet so many new people and make new friends. I even got "adopted" by the New York District. What made this experience the most memorable for me was House of Delagates. Throughout the entirety of ICON and during HoD, I met so many people who loved and supported KIWIN'S in fighting the fourth amendment. Which goes to show their emphasis on the core value of inclusiveness. Overall ICON taught me so many new things that I can bring back to my division. I'm definitely making sure that I go to ICON in 2017!

ANASTASIA SLEPUKHOVA IMMEDIATE PAST INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE

Dear CNH KIWIN’S, It is with the deepest respect, care and regard that I find it so difficult to address you in my farewell letter. My name is Anastasia Slepukhova, and this past year I had the utmost sincere opportunity to serve as a Key Club International Trustee to your District, along with the New York, Alabama and Rocky Mountain Districts. As a Trustee my main responsibility was to council my four Districts, Governors and District Boards. I had also served as a Chairwoman for the International Committee for Internal Development and this year we made some significant progress on our organization’s resources, website and the magazine. In sum, this year has been challenging as I had to balance a lot between my family, Key Club and school but it has also been very rewarding because you made the hard work worth it. Having been at the House of Delegates in Anaheim and seeing your passion there, I wanted to work with CNH KIWIN’S and have the opportunity to have a better understanding of your unique District. With a bit of convincing the International President, and a bit of luck on our side, we got matched! And boy wasI was overjoyed to have been assigned to serve you this year! Working with Governors Jade and Carolyn along with their District Board has been such an incredible experience. Having been a District Governor myself, I was constantly surprised just by how much their District Board was able to accomplish, and truly care for every member they served. Although small, your District is one of the most successful and prospering Districts in all of Key Club International. Your willingness to travel for events, your desire to make genuine relationships, your incomparable work ethic and most importantly, your drive for service is what makes your District stand out above the rest. That same drive and passion is why your District gained so much support from Key Club International at this year’s House of Delegates during ICON. I hope that you realize just how remarkable and unique y’all are, and embrace your KIWIN’S pride to the fullest. You have a proud history to remember, and a bright future to look forward to. One of the most admiring aspects of this year was seeing your entire District come together to overcome obstacles in the aftermath of the amendment from Anaheim. Powering through anything that may come your way is truly only a trait that can be accomplished when everyone is working together for a common cause. My wish for your District is to grow your passion, stick together to remember… You are KIWIN’S and you are here to STAY. With much love to my KIWIN’S Ohana, Anastasia Slepukhova Immediate-Past Key Club International Trustee
