J O JO SA UN DERS INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE / NEW YORK, NEBRASKA-IOWA, CNH KIWIN’S
Hello! My name is JoJo Saunders, and I’m your International Trustee! I’m from the Pacific Northwest District, where I was a Club Historian, then a District Editor, before I became a Trustee. For those of you that don’t know, each district of Key Club International is assigned to a Trustee, I was beyond lucky enough to be able to be the trustee for CNH KIWIN’S, and I can’t wait to work with you all! As a trustee, one of my focuses is ensuring that the districts I serve are represented on an international level, as well as making sure they’re aware with what the international level is doing. My focus is making sure that your district always is supported by International. Speaking of International information, I just put out an video update as a small introduction/international update. You can share it with your clubs if you’d like to! You can see it on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcJAv1-tfCs Even though I mainly work with Governor Carolyn and the rest of the District Board, please know I am always here for you! If you ever have any questions, or even just want to talk, just shoot me a message! I don’t bite, promise! Enjoy the rest of your day! In love and service, JoJo Saunders International Trustee jojosaunders.kci@gmail.com
CAR OLYN LE DISTRICT GOVERNOR / CNH KIWIN’S DISTRICT
Hello CNH KIWIN'S! My name is Carolyn Le and I hold the distinct honor of serving as your District Governor in the 2016-2017 term! If you're a new member, welcome to the ohana! If you're a returning member, welcome back to another term of service and fellowship! Before I was elected District Governor, I served as the District Kiwanis Family and Foundation Chair and a Club Recording Secretary. Also, I served on the District Membership Services Committee, Head of the District Projects Committee and Head of the Kiwanis Family, Foundation, & International Relations Committee. Although it seems like a lot of positions, I've also had a few obstacles that prepared me to where I am today. Using my past experiences, I wish to serve the District to the best of my ability to help nurture strong leaders and promote the core values. A little about myself outside of CNH KIWIN'S, I attend Fountain Valley High School as a senior within the Jet Division. My other extracurriculars I have taken throughout the high school years have been Tennis, Orchestra, Honors Commission, California Scholarship Federation, Girl's League, and others. I am quite the nerd as a I take a rigorous schedule of AP Courses and additional career based programs. Though I may seem busy, I always make the time to connect with members and work to improve qualities within the core of the District. My job as District Governor is to oversee the District functions such as the resources, graphics, membership recognition, events such as Convention and Fall Rally, and other important functions. Specifically for my job as District Governor, I help represent the CNH KIWIN'S District on an International level and work with our International Trustee. I also work directly with the Club Presidents, having mandatory President Calls every other month to be updated on the club progress and also to give updates on District and International Information. Also, I give the Club Presidents to schedule a call with me every month if they wish to please in their President Monthly Report Forms that I diligently read. Although I do work directly with the Club Presidents, one of my central goals this year is to be a resource for members and officers alike, if they have any questions, concerns, or interests! I am available most of the time, so please feel free to reach out via email or messenger! I can't wait until I see you all the next time at Fall Rally, Rose Float Decorating, or any event! In service and spirit, Carolyn Le District Governor 2016-2017 kiwins.dgov@gmail.com
BEL EN BRA VO KIWANIS FAMILY AND FOUNDATION CHAIR / CNH KIWIN’S DISTRICT
Hello CNH KIWIN’S, My name is Belen Bravo and I am happily serving as YOUR Kiwanis Family and Foundation Chair for the 2017-2017 term! I am currently a senior at Ridgeview High school in the Ruby Division, yes we are alive! Now just a quick little summary of who I am, I’m a bit known for having deep dimples, being in love with Perks of Being a Wallflower, and pizza. Along with being in KIWIN’S I am a part of a police explorers program, the swim team, ASB, drama performance class, as well as various other community programs. I first joined KIWIN’S as a sophomore when the club had just reopened at my school. I will now be entering my third year in KIWIN’S. This past year in KIWIN’S I had the pleasure of serving as my club's president. With the help of the now old board the club was able to expand dramatically. After attending my first ever DCON this past year was I inspired to do more for KIWIN’S and so I applied for the appointed board and now 6 months later here I am! As the Kiwanis Family and Foundation Chair, it is my job to promote the Foundation and Kiwanis Family relations! YAY! If you don’t know what either is, don’t fret my committee is working hard this year to create literatures that explain and promote such things. This year my main focus is on educating the District on WHAT the Kiwanis Family is and WHAT grants available to you all. I believe in order for someone to do something they must first understand what they are doing. Therefore we are focusing in on creating manuals that explain what each branch of the Kiwanis family is and some joint event ideas for each branch. We are also working on creating a Kiwanis family directory that would include all the Kiwanis family branches from the CNH District in one! The same is being applied for the grants and scholarships. We just hosted a webinar for the YOF Grant and recently released our YOF Grant manual. We’d like to keep hosting webinars and creating manuals that include the application to show members how simply and easy it is to apply to these grants and scholarships! If more people are aware of such things and are able to see how easy it is to apply, more people will apply (well at least I hope aha)! Yours in Service, Belen Bravo District Kiwanis Family and Foundations Chair kiwins.dkfamilychair@gmail.com

Falll Rally is our biggest fundraiser for our minor emphasis, the Pediatric Trauma Program. Every year, Key Clubbers in our District meet up and have a spirit battle for the spirit stick and raise money through merchandise sales or the penny war. Not only will members bond with the rest of the District, they will be raising money to help prevent the injuries and even the lives of children and infants.

The Walk for Huntington’s Disease event took place at the William R. Mason Regional Park, where Team Hope gathered many supporters to participate and raise awareness of Huntington’s Disease. At the beginning of the event, our members were greeted by the friendly volunteer coordinator with delicious muffins and hot coffee to give them the boost of energy for the rest of the day. Members were then delegated different tasks ranging from setting up tents, preparing goodie bags for the runners, distributing parking passes, and placed signs along the trail. Some members helped set up a tapestry with the faces, names, and dates of those who passed away from the disease. Those who were preparing goodie bags packaged coupons, key chains, hand sanitizers, doggy poop bags, and notepads totaling to almost 100 bags! During the race, members were assigned to various stations along the course to cheer on the walkers. Tiffany Lam says, “it was wonderful to see so many different people walk for such a cause, as they all perhaps knew a loved one affected by and wanted to raise awareness for Huntington’s Disease.” Joseph Pham, senior, described it to be “an experience I would do again.” At the conclusion of the event, volunteers removed all the sponsor and directional signs and assisted with the breakdown of the event. Overall, this event was warm and welcoming yet sincere. Not only did members receive a Pizookie coupon, meet students from other schools, and obtain free shirts, but they were also offered insight on the daily challenges of those affected by Huntington’s Disease.
FEATURED SERVICE PROJECT
CRYSTAL DIVISION | ALL SUMMER | AROUND 3000 HOURS ACCUMULATED “KYCC BRIDGE is a volunteer program for both middle and high school students. The volunteers help the elementary students from the surrounding schools and children from Koreatown and give the children a safe environment to complete their homework and explore their creative side. The volunteers act as the teacher's assistant and learn about what it takes to be a volunteer and learn leadership skills through the program. The volunteers learn about leadership from their fellow volunteers and learn what it takes to be a great volunteer. As the middle and high school students volunteer, they will learn from the children as much as the children are learning from them. Jenny Bong, LACES Club President

CLUB RUSH SEASON
“The new year has finally begun!!!! At our annual Club Rush, we encouraged around 150 students to sign up to join our club! We displayed our spirit with amazing posters and by cheering our hearts out! Brandon Fuji, our spirit chair, dressed up in our turtle suit, offering up free hugs and spirit galore! We gained membersand spread the word about what KIWIN’S is all about.” Mattea Pulido, Adolfo Camarillo HS Historian
“Segerstrom High School had its annual Club Rush on September 30th, and Segestrom KIWIN’S was eager to participate! A few minutes before lunch began, board members arrived at the spot of our booth, some helped organize the table with our poster board, laptop signups, and a playing slideshow while others set up our photobooth against library wall. Once lunch began and Club Rush commenced, our board members spread out around the table to talk to potential members and explain the purpose of our club. Candy and blue face paint were provided from our board members so that anyone interested in the club could help represent their KIWIN’S spirit with some blue face paint! Many people were interested in our photobooth and were able to take silly and fun pictures with their friends and the props that were provided. Every now and then, our spirit captain would lead a cheer or two and all of our board and general members would follow along, showing off our passionate spirit which definitely caught the attention of many students! Overall, we were able to attract many members with our photobooth, slideshow, and most importantly, our spirit!” Allison Ngo, Segerstrom HS Historian
“We had Club Rush on September 22nd and 23rd. We spent numerous hours preparing supplies for the big day from shooting a video to making capes for board members. On the big day I personally was excused from class early to secure a good spot to represent the club. We put up two posters to show the incoming members the ways of KIWIN’S right above the sign up sheets. New potential members lined up a few minutes after the lunch bell rang and soon the lists were full. We offered them candy and stickers so they could advertise to their friends, we also said that popsicles would be passed out during the first meeting which helped to convince them to come. This occurred on both days of our club rush and resulted in 141 new members signing up, a successful club rush.” Jack Vandehei, Edison HS Historian
C L UB S NAP CH A T FILTE RS “For this month as you might have known we had our club rush. We got many sign ups and a total of 54 people showed up to our first club info meeting. It was an honor to represent KIWIN’S at our school, we really appreciate this opportunity to spread the joy and happiness we experience through this club. We hope to see KIWIN’S grow at our school since it is a pretty small club at the moment. Our next meeting will be this Friday and we will hopefully have an official number of how many people sign up to KIWIN’S.” Zahraa Odda, Rancho Bernardo HS Historian
