Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, OD
Dancehall legends honored for their contributions to Jamaican music
On National Heroes Day in Jamaica this week, two of dancehall's most influential figures, Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Price and Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis, were awarded the Order of Distinction, Officer Class (OD), in recognition of their contributions to Jamaican music and culture
This honor marks a significant milestone in their careers, which have been intertwined for decades through both rivalry and collaboration
Bounty Killer, born in Kingston in 1972, is revered as one of dancehall's most uncompromising voices His tough upbringing in Seaview Gardens, one of Kingston's inner-city communities, heavily influenced his music, which often addresses issues of poverty, injustice, and political corruption Known as the "Poor People's Governor," Bounty Killer's raw, confrontational style brought him to the forefront of the dancehall scene in the 1990s with hits like "Poor People Fed Up" and "Look Into My Eyes " His advocacy for social issues earned him respect far beyond the music industry, cementing his place as a legend in the genre Beenie Man, on the other hand, emerged as the “King of Dancehall,” with a career that began in his childhood Born in 1973, he released his first album at the age of 10 and quickly became a household name Known for his energetic performances and versatility, Beenie Man dominated the 1990s and 2000s with chart-topping hits like "Who Am I," "Dude," and "King of the Dancehall " His ability to seamlessly blend traditional dancehall rhythms with more commercial, global sounds made him not only a national treasure but also a global ambassador for

Jamaican music Over the years, his electrifying stage presence and continuous reinvention have kept him at the top, earning him the title of one of dancehall's greatest entertainers
Despite their individual success, the careers of Bounty Killer and Beenie Man have always been linked, largely due to their longstanding rivalry Their infamous feud, which started in the early '90s, captivated the dancehall world and gave rise to some of the genre's most memorable lyrical clashes Their back-and-forth exchanges played out not only in music but on stage, particularly during Jamaica's annual Sting festival, where they went head-to-head in fierce battles These clashes added to their legendary status, as both artists pushed each other to create some of the

However, after years of rivalry, the two artists reconciled, and their friendship now stands as a symbol of unity in the dancehall community This was most notably displayed during their historic Verzuz battle in 2020, which brought dancehall to a global audience and reintroduced the world to their extensive catalogs The event showcased their mutual respect and solidified their places as pioneers of the genre, furthering their status as dancehall icons
Receiving the OD on the same day adds another layer to their shared legacy Both artists have expressed that this national recognition means more to them than any international accolade “This is like getting an
and
award from your parent,” Bounty Killer said, while Beenie Man emphasized the importance of being honored by their homeland, noting, "I am a Jamaican who live in Jamaica and mi nuh plan fi move "
Their contributions to the evolution of dancehall are undeniable Both have spent decades shaping the sound and culture of Jamaican music, inspiring countless younger artists who have followed in their footsteps While they have both received numerous awards throughout their careers, including the prestigious Reggae Icon Award, this latest honor underscores their deep cultural impact From fierce rivals to respected friends, their journey has become a testament to the power of resilience and collaboration in shaping the global sound of dancehall, confirming their place as true legends in the genre

Negril set to get International airport, PM Holness announces
Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness has unveiled plans for a new international airport in Negril, alongside a new terminal at Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, as part of his government's continued investment in Jamaica's transport infrastructure.
Speaking at the Sandals Jamaica Love Tour on Wednesday, October 16, Holness highlighted his administration's efforts to improve the island's connectivity, noting that upgrades to Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston are also already underway
The development of an international airport in Negril has been long anticipated Transportation Minister Daryl Vaz hinted at the project last year but did not provide a timeline In October, Vaz shared more details, stating, “In Negril, there is a consultant that has been brought on board to do a master plan for the expansion of the Negril Aerodrome to become an international airport That also will have a huge impact in relation to taking some of the pressure off of the MBJ airport ”
Additionally, the government is considering designating Negril as its own parish
In addition to the airport projects, Holness outlined several other major infrastructure developments, including the ongoing US$320 million South Coast Highway, which will
connect Harbour View in East Kingston to Port Antonio, Portland He also mentioned the US$225 million perimeter road being constructed in Montego Bay, and the planned Lucea bypass in Hanover, which will require significant investment
Holness emphasized that these projects would enhance the ease of travel for visitors across the island, boosting tourism in less developed regions like Portland and St. Mary, known for their natural beauty
During his address, the prime minister reflected on his administration's achievements
over the past eight years, crediting the Jamaican people for their resilience and sacrifice in achieving record-low unemployment of 4 2%, halving the country's external debt, and creating a more stable economic environment
“We are at an inflection point where we can turn our potential into reality, where our results can be greater than our efforts to achieve them,” Holness said, expressing gratitude to the tourism sector and visitors for their role in Jamaica's progress

BVI Premier confident in economic benefits of Vybz Kartel concert
British Virgin Islands (BVI) Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has expressed strong confidence that the government's sponsorship of the Vybz Kartel concert will yield substantial financial benefits for the territory He noted that the event is anticipated to generate significant tax revenues, which will bolster the local economy By attracting visitors and promoting tourism, the concert is viewed as a strategic investment that will stimulate economic growth and support various public services in the BVI
In a recent interview, Wheatley addressed concerns surrounding the government's controversial US$220,000 investment in the concert, emphasizing its potential to draw tourists from nearby regions, including the United States Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico “Most likely, the same money that the government put in sponsorship to help make the show a reality, the government will get back that money in taxes,” he stated
Wheatley highlighted the importance of entertainment tourism, asserting that it plays a significant role in boosting the economy He argued that events like the Vybz Kartel concert
are investments with broader benefits, stimulating various local businesses such as hotels, Airbnbs, restaurants, and transport services “Some persons may not understand or be able to appreciate when visitors come to the Virgin Islands, how it contributes to the economy and contributes money towards all of the same things that they're concerned about,” he added
Despite this, the Premier acknowledged that some residents may have concerns regarding government spending on entertainment rather than areas like education or healthcare In response, he clarified that these sectors do not generate revenue directly, unlike tourism “If you want to get money to spend in education, healthcare, infrastructure, you rely on the main revenue earners for the government,” he explained, emphasizing that tourism and financial services are the primary drivers of government revenue
Wheatley also noted that his government aims to collaborate directly with private promoters, moving away from the BVI Tourist Board's involvement in such events. He pointed to examples from other countries, including Canada's $40 million investment in the Caribana festival, where a study revealed the festival's significant financial potential
According to the Premier, Caribana now delivers considerable returns to the economy, suggesting that similar events in the BVI, like the Vybz Kartel concert, could attract visitors who would contribute to local businesses and the overall economy
Guyana to establish University of the West Indies Nursing School
The government of Guyana is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a University of the West Indies (UWI) Nursing School in the country This announcement was made by President Irfaan Ali during the sod-turning ceremony for the new Lethem Regional Hospital The president confirmed that tuition fees at the upcoming nursing school would align with those at UWI in Trinidad
The new Lethem Regional Hospital is designed to enhance healthcare services in the region, featuring 75 inpatient beds, two fully equipped operating rooms, a modern
emergency room, and a range of diagnostic imaging services, including digital and portable x-rays, one CT machine, and three ultrasound machines President Ali emphasized that the hospital will also function as a teaching facility, aiming to develop skilled medical professionals for Guyana and the neighboring Brazilian state of Roraima
“The regional authorities have already indicated that a group of investors from the state of Roraima is interested in establishing a medical school and medical facility in Region Nine,” President Ali stated at the ceremony
The collaboration with Roraima's
investors is expected to not only enhance the quality of healthcare in Guyana but also provide numerous opportunities for Guyanese citizens to access quality education in the healthcare sector This initiative will equip them with essential qualifications to elevate healthcare standards in the region
President Ali highlighted the government's commitment to improving healthcare facilities, stating that since 2020, several medical facilities have been established in Region Nine He pointed out that the healthcare system has seen significant growth, with patient numbers rising from 25,000 in
2020 to 67,000 in the first half of 2024
In terms of facility classifications, level one facilities typically provide primary healthcare services for common ailments, while level two facilities offer more specialized care Level three facilities represent the highest level of medical care available
The establishment of the UWI Nursing School and the new Lethem Regional Hospital signals a significant step forward in Guyana's healthcare landscape, with a focus on training and education to foster a robust medical community

Haiti's Justice Ministry calls for increased security for PM amid rising gang violence
Haiti's Justice Ministry issued a call on Tuesday for heightened security measures to protect Prime Minister Garry Conille and other Cabinet members following unspecified threats suggesting they could be targeted by malicious actors
While the ministry did not disclose specific details, it cited “consistent and persistent” intelligence indicating that top officials might be in danger from unnamed groups intent on causing “trouble and panic” in the country The ministry urged police and judicial authorities to take swift action to ensure the officials' safety
Neither judicial authorities nor the prime minister's office responded to requests for comment regarding the potential threats
This warning comes amid a surge in gang violence in neighborhoods of Haiti's capital that had previously remained outside of gang control The violence has escalated just months after a U N -backed security mission, led by Kenyan police, began operations in the country Over 4,000 people have been displaced due to recent attacks in areas such as
Solino and Tabarre 27 in Port-au-Prince
The recent wave of violence, which began nearly a week ago, is attributed to the gang coalition “Viv Ansanm ” The group had previously orchestrated attacks in February targeting critical government infrastructure, which eventually led to the resignation of
former Prime Minister Ariel Henry Attacks were also reported in the coastal town of Arcahaie, northwest of Port-au-Prince, and in the central town of Estere, where gunmen opened fire near a school this week, killing one parent and injuring a student Estere is located just north of Pont-Sondé,
where at least 115 people were killed by gang members this month in one of the largest massacres in Haiti's recent history
The Justice Ministry's statement has raised alarm, particularly in light of the 2021 assassination of former President Jovenel Moïse at his private residence, which plunged Haiti into deeper political instability
Adding to the tension, gang leaders behind the recent attacks have threatened journalists covering the violence, naming specific reporters and calling for their deaths On Tuesday, the Association of Haitian Journalists condemned these threats and urged authorities to protect media personnel
In a recent interview with Magik9 radio, Justice Minister Carlos Hercule attributed the violence to unspecified “forces of darkness” that he claimed had operated in Haiti 20 years ago “We have information,” Hercule said without elaborating He added, “At every moment of calm, they form coalitions with exconvicts and delinquents who carry illegal firearms ”
UN expands arms embargo in Haiti amid escalating gang violence
The U N Security Council voted unanimously on Friday to broaden the arms embargo on Haiti, now extending it to all types of weapons and ammunition in response to the growing levels of gang violence and criminal activity in the Caribbean nation
The new resolution empowers the 193 U N member states to take “appropriate steps” to prevent the illicit trafficking and diversion of arms to Haiti, where U N experts have reported a rise in sophisticated weapons being smuggled in, primarily from the U S , with Florida being a major source
Additionally, the resolution extends the existing travel ban and asset freeze on individuals listed on the U.N. sanctions
blacklist for another year In late September, two more names were added to the list, which already includes five prominent gang leaders
Gang violence in Haiti has surged since the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, with criminal groups now controlling up to 80% of Port-au-Prince, the capital, and expanding their influence into surrounding areas. The rampant violence, marked by killings, rapes, and kidnappings, has spurred civilian vigilante groups to rise up against the gangs
Earlier this month, the Security Council also unanimously approved extending the mandate of the Kenya-led multinational force assisting the Haitian National Police in
combating the gangs However, Kenyan President William Ruto and Haiti's Prime Minister Garry Conille have called on international partners to fulfill their commitments to the U N -backed mission, stressing that the operation needs more resources, with its current budget set to run out by March 2025
Kenya is set to deploy an additional 600 officers next month, adding to the 400 already stationed in Haiti Other countries, including Jamaica, have also sent police officers and soldiers to assist, but the combined number remains far below the 2,500 troops pledged by nations such as Chad, Benin, Bangladesh, and Barbados
The resolution, co-sponsored by Ecuador and the United States, also encourages Haiti's government to improve the management of police weapons and ammunition, as well as seized arms, and to strengthen border and customs controls to curb the illicit arms trade
The panel of experts overseeing the implementation of these sanctions will continue its work for another 13 months under the new mandate While the arms embargo previously covered only “small arms, light weapons, and ammunition,” it has now been expanded to include “ arms and related material of all types ”

New leaders with fresh ideas
US President Joe Biden dropped out of the race for a second term at 81, following pressure after a poor debate performance against Republican Donald Trump Even before his July withdrawal, concerns about his age and ability to continue were widespread. However, despite Biden's decision, other aging candidates are still vying for reelection in the November 5 general elections, including several in South Florida
As with the debate around Biden, there's growing pressure in South Florida for a generational shift in leadership Advocates for change argue that younger candidates should step in not just for fresh perspectives but because they bring a combination of education, experience, and a youthful understanding of the changing times Many of these younger politicians have not only excelled in their educational pursuits but have also gained hands-on experience by serving as commissioners or sitting on city boards Their involvement in city governance equips them with the knowledge to navigate complex local issues while remaining attuned to modern challenges
These candidates are often seen as more relatable, especially in today's digital age, where social media plays a vital role in connecting with voters Younger politicians tend to be more adept at leveraging these platforms, fostering transparency and engagement in ways that older leaders may struggle to replicate
Youth-led movements have brought crucial issues to the forefront, such as climate change, affordable housing, and racial justice The younger politicians emerging from these efforts often have a deeper personal connection to these long-term issues, which translates into a strong sense of urgency and commitment to enacting meaningful change This isn't just about injecting energy into politics; it's about creating policies that address modern realities head-on Younger candidates, with personal stakes in areas like education, healthcare, and the environment, may be more driven to push for bold reforms
Electing younger officials who combine
Together we can build a brighter future for Lauderdale Lakes
Some voters look to these experienced leaders for stability and proven governance, especially in times of uncertainty. But the key is to know when to call it quits and step aside and make way for younger more qualified candidates
educational achievements and governance experience could also help counter the voter apathy seen among younger generations. Many young voters feel disconnected from a political system dominated by older incumbents, whose policies are sometimes seen as out of step with current societal demands A shift toward younger candidates, particularly those with experience in local government, could re-engage
a disenfranchised electorate
Of course there is something to be said about older politicians bring valuable experience Their deep knowledge of the political system, long-established networks, and familiarity with navigating crises are also crucial assets in leadership Some voters look to these experienced leaders for stability and proven governance, especially in times of uncertainty But the key is to know when to call it quits and step aside and make way for younger more qualified candidates suited for the next generation Or to know when their time has passed even to seek office
A political system that values both experienced leaders and newcomers with fresh ideas can maintain continuity while adapting to future challenges However, if there is too much dependence on older, experienced politicians, the system risks stagnation Younger politicians with new ideas and the education and governance experience to back them up are essential to keep political systems relevant and capable of addressing the rapidly evolving needs of society

A World Adrift
Grenada unveils new underwater sculpture park
The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially unveiled A World Adrift, a stunning new underwater sculpture park located off the coast of Carriacou, Grenada's sister island. Designed to cater to everyone from experienced divers to casual tourists exploring via snorkel or glass-bottom boat, this breathtaking installation was created by renowned artist Jason deCaires Taylor.
Originally scheduled for launch earlier this year, the unveiling was delayed due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl in July While Grenada's main island remained unharmed and open to tourists, the new park serves as a symbol of Carriacou's resilience, playing a vital role in regenerating the island's marine ecosystem and aiding its economic recovery
marine cement, the sculptures are submerged 5 to 8 meters beneath the surface, creating diverse habitats that promote coral growth and marine biodiversity
A World Adrift features an impressive fleet of 30 boats, each helmed by a local schoolchild, embodying themes of hope, leadership, and the importance of the next generation in environmental stewardship Designed to resemble delicate paper origami, these sculptures highlight the fragility of the ecosystem, with the children representing future guardians of the environment Made from high-grade stainless steel and pH-neutral
In reflecting on his vision for the project, artist Jason deCaires Taylor stated, “A World Adrift is a powerful reflection of the delicate balance between humanity and the ocean Each boat in the fleet represents resilience, with the local children serving as guides through uncertain waters a metaphor for our collective journey in addressing environmental challenges ” This installation marks the second underwater sculpture park in Grenada,
following Taylor s iconic first park off the mainland, which opened in 2006 and recently welcomed a new installation in November 2023 Both parks are recognized as part of National Geographic's 25 Wonders of the World and are integral to the GTA's initiative to position Grenada as a leader in ecoconscious tourism Not only does A World Adrift promote sustainability, but it also serves as a key driver for economic recovery by attracting visitors to both Carriacou and Grenada
Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, emphasized the significance of this project, stating, “A World Adrift is
more than an attraction it is a call to ction, reminding us of our collective ole in the stewardship of the planet As we rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, this installation provides a source of hope and a tangible means of recovery for both our environment and economy It acknowledges the fragility of our world while celebrating its capacity for renewal We invite travelers, conservationists, and art lovers alike to engage in this shared journey of resilience and regeneration ”
For those eager to experience A World Adrift, private charters can be booked through Grenada's numerous dive shops, offering guided tours for an up-close look at this extraordinary blend of art, conservation, and economic revitalization

Jamaican TikTok star 'World Dawg' shot in Miramar
Jamaican TikTok influencer Akeem Dunbar, known as “World Dawg,” was seriously injured, and his cousin was killed in a shooting last Tuesday morning outside a Dunkin' Donuts in Miramar, Florida According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a m in the parking lot of the 6200 block of Miramar Parkway
A 911 call from the scene captured a man, believed to be Dunbar, frantically telling the dispatcher, “I got shot, I got shot My friend died,” according to a report by UrbanIslandz Officers rushed to the scene but found only shell casings when they arrived, with no sign of the victims or vehicles involved Miramar police Sgt Tiffany Roy told WPLG that officers were unable to locate any victims at the scene
Local resident Patricia Riviera, who lives near the Dunkin' Donuts, told WPLG that she heard the gunshots “At 3:29 exactly, I hear multiple gunshots, one after the other after the other,” she recalled “I was like, 'Oh my God, those are gunshots, those aren't fireworks '”
Shortly after the shooting, authorities received additional calls from Memorial Regional Hospital, where a man with gunshot wounds later identified as Dunbar had been admitted In another 911 call from State Road 7 and Southwest 23rd Street, police were alerted to more developments in the case
During an inspection of the vehicle involved in the incident, police discovered
the body of Dunbar's cousin, 34-year-old Kevern Flynn Family members were called to identify Flynn's body, and his death was reportedly so devastating for his pregnant wife that she collapsed and had to be assisted by EMS Neighbor
Alexis Nazario told CBS News Miami, “She fainted over here, and we gave her a seat The whole family started coming over This is really sad He was a young guy ”
A second cousin, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters that Dunbar, Flynn, and another influencer, Swiiss Lee, had attended a party prior to the shooting Swiiss Lee, also a Jamaican influencer, has since denied any
involvement in the World Dawg shooting, addressing rumors circulating online
“Right after my birthday, bro, my friend got shot in his hand, broke his bone and all you talk 'bout is sacrifice and setup,” Lee said in a statement, dismissing the rumors “Just a spread bad rumor, bro.” Lee later fired back at another influencer, saying, “How I did set up my friend, bro? It hurts me to hear that my friend got shot in his hand and the next dawg dead ” Police confirmed that Dunbar is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, with no official charges filed at this time

BCT waives fares for voters during general election
On October 22, the Broward County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution waiving bus and paratransit fares for voters during the early voting period and on Election Day for the upcoming general election This initiative allows residents to ride Broward County Transit (BCT) free of charge on November 2, November 3, and November 5, 2024, making it easier for voters to participate in the democratic process
With early voting for Florida’s November 5 general election already underway, all 67 counties are offering in-person voting options In Broward County, early voting locations will remain open until November 3, from 7 a m to 7 p m
Joe Scott, Broward County Supervisor of Elections, emphasized the importance of early voting, stating, “With over two dozen locations to choose from, we have made Early Voting as accessible and secure as possible to ensure everyone can participate in the democratic process Early voting is a great opportunity for voters to cast their ballots at a time and location that is most convenient for them ”
For voters who prefer to cast their ballots by mail, the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is October 24 It is crucial for those voting in person to bring a valid photo ID with a signature If they lack proper identification, voters can still cast provisional ballots, which will be counted if the signature matches their registration record
In addition to facilitating in-person voting, Secure Ballot Intake Drop Boxes are available at all early voting sites for voters wishing to return their mail-in ballots securely All locations also feature ADAcompliant machines, ensuring that voters with disabilities can participate fully
As of October 23, over 2 2 million Floridians have cast their ballots
through early voting or vote-by-mail options, according to the Florida Division of Elections

“This will be a most well-deserved and long-overdue recognition of their legendary contributions to Jamaican culture and music Both Miss Lou and Bob Marley stand as towering figures in the preservation and global elevation of Jamaica's cultural heritage,” Holness said
Both Miss Lou and Marley currently hold the Order of Merit, which grants them the title “The Honourable.” The new designation as National Icons reflects their extraordinary influence in shaping Jamaica's cultural identity and global legacy
Holness highlighted Miss Lou's pioneering role in promoting Jamaican Patois and folk traditions, while Bob Marley's music, with its messages of resistance and unity, continues to resonate globally
“Their impact on the world stage is immeasurable, and this recognition honours not only their individual legacies but also the indomitable spirit of Jamaica,” Holness added
Bob Marley and Miss Lou died in May 1981 and July 2006, respectively The two are members of the Order of Merit, the third highest national honour
The island currently has seven national heroes, all of whom were political activists, and in some way, linked to either slavery and colonialism or political independence But according to the National Honors and Award Act of 1970, the only criteria for a Jamaican to be named a national hero is that they “at the time of his or her death was, a citizen of Jamaica and rendered to Jamaica service of a most distinguished nature ” The honor can also be awarded either posthumously or on the occasion of the recipient's retirement from active public life
The debate over whether icons like Miss Lou, Bob Marley, and even Usain Bolt should be named national heroes has persisted for years, especially after Barbados named pop star Rihanna a national hero in 2021
Earlier this year, while attending the 'Bob Marley: One Love' premiere in Jamaica, the question was posed to Prime Minister Andrew Holness on whether or not Marley will ever get national hero status
Holness answered by saying that recognition for iconic personalities is something being considered
“We did put together a committee to look at it [naming Bob Marley as a national hero], and believe me, there were commissions before that, established a criteria for national hero I think the conversation has so far evolved to having a category that identifies iconic personalities, people who have added great value to our countries So there may be a designation But, who knows, the conversation continues,” Holness said
In March of this year, Jamaica's leader of the opposition Mark Golding committed to making Bob Marley a national hero if the People's National Party (PNP) forms the next government
Golding said that Marley, a global icon, deserves to be Jamaica's eighth national hero
“One commitment that I have, which is in keeping with our seriousness about culture and the creative industries, when we form the next government, I commit to conferring the Order of National Hero on the Honourable Robert Nesta Marley for his service of a most distinguished nature in advancing Jamaican culture and his global impact as a liberating inspirational force for oppressed people across the world,” Golding said during a budget presentation
Before then, in 2021, Senator Dr Floyd Morris announced that he would be tabling a motion in the Upper House for Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Miss Lou and Usain Bolt to be named national heroes
Making the case for the conferral, Senator Morris said that he believed that these four icons have all given distinguished service to the country across various fields
Broward Schools adjusts calendar after hurricane closures
Broward County Public Schools students will have to cut their winter break short by one day due to schedule changes stemming from Hurricanes Helene and Milton
The school district announced on Tuesday that it has revised its 2024-2025 academic calendar to make up for the three lost instructional days
Students will now return to school on January 6, 2025, a day earlier than planned, as the previously scheduled teacher workday will be turned into a regular school day The first semester, originally set to end before winter break, will now conclude on January 9, 2025 To compensate, the teacher workday has been moved to Friday, January 10, giving students that day off
Despite these adjustments, midterm and final exams will not be affected, as they are set to be completed before winter break The changes ensure that the district meets the state’s instructional hour requirements, which mandate 720 hours for students in kindergarten through third grade and 900 hours for grades four through 12
In addition to the January modifications, the school board designated November 25-26, 2024, and March 31, 2025, as severe weather makeup days, ensuring future flexibility in case of more disruptions Miami-Dade County schools, however, do not need to make any adjustments as they already have enough instructional hours built into their schedule
These changes were approved during a special school board meeting, as Broward works to recover lost time while minimizing disruptions to the academic year

Reports suggest that Mason Greenwood, currently with Olympique Marseille, intends to have a conversation with incoming England manager Thomas Tuchel before making a final decision on his international future
Greenwood is weighing up whether to stick with England or commit to Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz
According to The Sun, Greenwood is hopeful that Tuchel’s arrival in January might provide him with an opportunity to revive his chances with the England national team However, if this doesn’t materialize, Greenwood is expected to take up the offer extended by Jamaica’s head coach, Steve McClaren, to represent the Caribbean nation
