Golding used a portion of his address to highlight the government's perceived lack of accountability and underperformance in several areas
“Jamaicans are tired of the impunity of those who hold political power. Public officials must be held accountable There must be transparency and openness in the conduct of national affairs, and reasonable protection of privacy in personal life,” he said
“Every Jamaican must feel well-cared-for and enabled by their Government. We must invest and build an efficient and caring public service with shorter wait times, giving value for the taxes you pay,” Golding argued Golding also addressed the quality of life Jamaicans deserve, saying, “People deserve much more than what is happening now We want garbage moved from our gates; street

Antigua and Barbuda launches initiative to address unemployment among fathers
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is set to introduce a new initiative aimed at combating unemployment among fathers This program is designed to help unemployed fathers find jobs, particularly in sectors such as beautification, with the goal of enabling them to provide financial support for their children
Cabinet spokesperson Lionel Hurst underscored the initiative's focus on skill acquisition, stating, “We believe that the acquisition of skills will enable them to earn throughout their working life sufficiently so that they will not have to turn to criminal activity in order to bring money into the household ”
This new program addresses concerns that many single mothers are not receiving adequate financial support from unemployed fathers The Cabinet reminded citizens of the legal obligations fathers have towards their children and affirmed that the Administration is committed to assisting in fulfilling these obligations
Hurst highlighted the opportunities available for skill development through local institutions, saying, “Some of the important skills are being taught at the ABICE or the Harrison Centre at no cost in some instances to some of those who are being trained ” He noted that the program aims to benefit a range of individuals, including those involved in criminal activities “Men and girls who are involved in crimes, boys actually in some instances, and girls involved in criminal activity in gangs,” he said, “will have an opportunity to learn skills that will take them through life and allow them to earn sufficient income ”
In addition to job placement and skill development, the government's approach includes support for aspiring entrepreneurs. Hurst pointed out that the entrepreneurial development program, which offers funding at a low interest rate of 2%, is another method the government is employing to assist individuals in establishing small businesses
“The overarching goal of these initiatives,” Hurst concluded, “is to ensure that they have the necessary means by which they can earn an income and not be found wanting and therefore having to turn to crime ”

Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds told reporters he hoped the two bandits who robbed Deyalsingh would be promptly apprehended
“I am assured by the police that they are looking at that particular matter as well and that it appears as if they are making some progress
“I am only hoping they bring it to a positive outcome and that they could find the miscreants who were responsible for another robbery in Trinidad and Tobago ”
Hinds said the incident reflected that no one was immune to the criminal behavior of certain citizens and also non-nationals participating in street crimes
“It really just demonstrates the state of affairs and the reasons why we all as a society have to strengthen ourselves (and) harden our targets, whether it is in a normal day’s work, whether it is while we are recreating, whether it is while we are at home ”
The police were spending time to sensitise people to this, he added
“It also shows the need for us to come together and for the police to really accentuate on finding these miscreants and dealing with them in accordance with the law I am happy to know Minister Deyalsingh – I have not yet spoken to him – but from the little I am aware of in relation to the matter, he is physically unharmed
“I propose to speak to him very shortly about the matter and assure the police are giving attention to this crime
“I am hoping, along with everyone else, that we get to the bottom of this and find the animals who would have done this ” Hinds urged the public to help the police solve this crime
US names four Caribbean nations as major drug-producing countries
The United States has listed Jamaica, The Bahamas, Belize, and Haiti as major drug transit or major illicit drug-producing countries for the fiscal year 2025
In a statement, President Joe Biden highlighted the inclusion of these four Caribbean nations, along with other countries, noting their significant role in drug trafficking and the production of precursor chemicals that impact the United States
The president clarified that being named on the list does not reflect the government’s counter-narcotic efforts or cooperation with the U S , emphasizing that “the list is not a sanction or penalty ” Instead, it is a result of geographic, commercial, and economic factors that facilitate the transit or production of drugs or precursor chemicals, even in countries that have implemented strong law enforcement and narcotics control measures
Biden also pointed to recent changes under U S law that expand the definition of drug source countries The James M Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023 now includes countries that are sources of chemicals used to produce illicit drugs, further explaining the inclusion of the Caribbean nations
Among other countries mentioned in Biden’s report were Bolivia, Burma, and Venezuela, which were designated as having “failed demonstrably” to meet their international counter-narcotic obligations over the past year The U S continues to maintain support programs in these countries despite the challenges
Provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated that the U S saw an estimated 107,543 drug overdose deaths in 2023, a slight decrease from 2022 This marks the first decline in drug overdose deaths since 2018, which Biden credited to his administration’s efforts and investments in combating the drug epidemic However, he acknowledged that addressing the drug crisis requires global cooperation
In July 2023, the Biden administration launched a Global Coalition to combat synthetic drug threats, uniting over 150 countries to tackle the alarming rise in
the manufacturing and trafficking of illicit synthetic drugs The coalition’s membership has tripled within the past year, reflecting the global scale of the problem
Earlier in March, the United Nations (UN) Commission on Narcotic Drugs adopted a U.S.sponsored resolution aimed at preventing and responding to drug overdoses The resolution encourages international data collection and information sharing on synthetic drug threats Additionally, the Commission implemented international controls on chemicals used in the production of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and MDMA, which Biden noted is a critical step in disrupting trafficking networks
The U S president emphasized that international cooperation remains essential in addressing the fentanyl epidemic and dismantling the criminal organizations profiting from it He highlighted trilateral mechanisms such as the North American Drug Dialogue, which has strengthened collaboration between the U S , Mexico, and Canada on controlling precursor chemicals and combating illicit drug production
“While we expand our efforts at home, we also recognize this problem as a global one that requires a coordinated international response,” Biden said Other countries named in the U S report include Afghanistan, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela

26 dead in Haiti after gas tanker explodes
A tragic fuel truck explosion in Haiti has left at least 26 people dead and dozens more severely injured, according to local authorities
The incident occurred on Saturday near the coastal city of Miragoane, about 100 kilometers west of Port-au-Prince
A fuel tanker collided with another vehicle, causing it to overturn and leak gasoline onto the road As people rushed to collect the spilled fuel, the tanker erupted into a massive explosion, engulfing those nearby
Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille, who visited the site and met with some of the victims, described the devastation: “It's a horrible scene we ' ve just lived through Many dozens of victims, wounded, severely burned ” Conille made the remarks at Port-au-Prince airport, where several of the most severely injured were being airlifted for specialized treatment in the capital He vowed to do everything in his power to ensure that those injured received the medical care they desperately needed
Emergency services reported that of the approximately 40 people who survived, more than half suffered third-degree burns, with some having burns over 80% of their bodies “It was mostly men who were injured,” said one emergency services worker However, among the injured were also three women and a child
The head of Haiti's Civil Protection Agency, Emmanuel Pierre, confirmed that the death toll had initially stood at 16 but was later revised upwards to 26 after more bodies were discovered near the explosion site
A witness to the explosion, who spoke anonymously to local outlet Echo Haiti Media, described the chaotic scene: “There were a lot of people Those who were close to the truck got pulverized ” According to the witness, the tanker's fuel tank had been punctured in the crash, and people gathered in an attempt to scoop up the leaking fuel when the explosion occurred
Authorities are still working to transfer several more of the most critically injured to larger hospitals Six patients have already been flown to Port-au-Prince for advanced care, and
12 others are expected to follow Haiti's emergency services also reported that a 31year-old man and two 23-year-old men, all suffering from burns over 89% of their bodies, were being treated in the southern city of Les Cayes
This latest disaster has grim echoes of a similar tragedy that occurred in 2021 in the northern city of Cap-Haitien In that incident, a fuel truck overturned, and as people rushed to gather fuel, a massive explosion resulted in the deaths of 75 people The blast unleashed a fireball that swept through nearby homes and businesses, devastating the area Many of the fatalities were onlookers and locals attempting to collect fuel
Fuel shortages have been a significant problem in Haiti, with deliveries to areas like Miragoane increasingly disrupted due to the presence of violent gangs that control many of the highways leading to and from the capital To avoid the gang-controlled routes, fuel trucks are often transported via ferries, but shortages persist, driving desperate citizens to take dangerous risks like collecting spilled fuel
The explosion has compounded the already dire humanitarian crisis Haiti faces
FAO warns of 'alarming' food insecurity in Haiti, calls for funding
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) has called for urgent international assistance to address the rising food insecurity crisis in Haiti, which it described as "alarming "
In a statement issued yesterday, the FAO noted that since February 2024, escalating violence and widespread population displacement have severely impacted agricultural production and disrupted markets As a result, nearly half of Haiti's population is now facing acute hunger
"Nearly five million people are experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity, and around 125,000 children suffer from severe acute malnutrition," the FAO said
To combat this crisis, the FAO is urging the international community to secure US$48 million under the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan This funding would assist 608,000 people through emergency agricultural activities
Rein Paulsen, Director of the FAO's Office of Emergencies and Resilience, emphasized the need for immediate support: "FAO remains committed to providing urgent agricultural support for the upcoming planting seasons, but additional funding is needed to save lives, prevent hunger and famine, and help vulnerable populations restore their livelihoods amidst unprecedented violence and displacement "
Paulsen, along with Adoniram Sanches, FAO's Subregional Coordinator for Mesoamerica, visited H a i t i t o s u p p o r t t h e i n c o m i n g F A O
Representative, Pierre Vauthier, in raising awareness and strengthening international cooperation on the humanitarian crisis During their visit, FAO officials met with Prime Minister Garry Conille, Agriculture Minister Vernet Joseph, and Environment Minister Moïse Fils Jean Pierre They also held discussions with representatives from USAID, the World Bank, the European Union, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and other UN agencies
The country has been under a state of emergency as it battles widespread gang violence, mass displacements, sexual violence, child recruitment, and rampant hunger. Gangs have taken control of large portions of Port-au-Prince and its surrounding areas, further destabilizing the country and complicating the delivery of vital resources such as fuel, food, and medical supplies
Prime Minister Conille, addressing the crisis, pledged his government's commitment to ensuring the victims received proper care but acknowledged the immense challenges the country continues to face “We are doing all we can, ” he said, “but the situation remains extremely difficult ”26 dead in Haiti after gas tanker explodes

Should the PNP accept
Vybz Kartel's support?
From various reports, Jamaica's opposition party, the People's National Party (PNP), held a very enthusiastic and productive national conference, its 86th, over the past weekend During the conference, party leader Mark Golding gave an impressive speech However, remarkably, several headlines in the immediate aftermath of the conference related to the appearance on the conference stage of notorious Jamaican entertainer Adidja Palmer, aka Vybz Kartel
According to reports, Kartel received a raucous ovation from PNP supporters packed inside Kingston's National Arena when he appeared on stage, wearing a mask in the PNP colors of orange and raising his hands in the PNP's clenched fist salute
From the reports and reactions on social media, it seems most PNP supporters, especially the youth, are enthusiastic about Kartel's support for the party The conference organizers acknowledged his support by allowing him prominence on stage with his attorney, Isat Buchannan However, there are also several PNP supporters, and non-supporters, who are extremely critical of the party giving such prominence to Kartel
The criticism arises from Kartel's reputation as a criminal and a convicted murderer, even though he was recently released from a prison sentence related to his conviction In 2014, Kartel was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole after 35 years for the murder of one Clive “Lizard” Williams On March 14 of this year, the London-based Privy Council overturned his conviction, along with those of three men co-accused with him, citing jury misconduct The Privy Council then resubmitted the case to Jamaica's Court of Appeal to decide whether the men would be retried or released On July 31, a panel of judges led by the president of the Court of Appeal freed Kartel and his coaccused According to the judges, there were at
least 12 factors that motivated their decision to release the men from the sentences for murder
Despite the new controversy, several PNP members, including ranking members, seem to be of the firm opinion that Kartel's support could be of significant benefit in the next general elections, due before September 2025, because of his strong popularity with some Jamaicans It is believed his support could be instrumental in the youth turnout for the party
Historically, Jamaica's main political parties have had traditional associations with individuals identified as criminals These associations surged in the late 1960s and were quite evident during the politically turbulent years of the 1970s Alleged gunmen served as informal bodyguards for political candidates from both the PNP and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), and criminal elements, popular as “dons” or leaders of their inner-city and garrison communities, were instrumental in mobilizing votes for the political party they were associated with On the other hand, some of these criminals also intimidated individuals who showed or were known to support the party opposed by the criminals. It is widely believed that the violence marking the period leading to the 1980 general elections was carried out by criminal elements associated with both major parties
Criminal elements associated with political parties are by no means characteristic of only Jamaican politics Across the world, criminal elements have been powerful supporters of political candidates and parties It was widely alleged that the victory of Democrat John F Kennedy over Republican Richard Nixon in the U S 1960 presidential elections was due to the support of the Mafia
Whether acknowledged or not, and whether liked or not, it is a fact that individuals popular with the public including notorious criminals or former notorious criminals, sportsmen and women, and entertainers can help mobilize votes for a political party or candidate, especially in close elections This is why popular U S entertainer Taylor Swift's endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is so welcomed by the Harris/Walz campaign
Those who criticize the PNP's acceptance of Kartel's support see it as the party aligning itself with a criminal even while it criticizes the government for being weak in controlling violent crime in the country Some view the party's acceptance of Kartel as blatantly hypocritical where the fight against crime is concerned This may be true, but politics often leads politicians to associate with unsavory characters in their bid to seek power Modern politics is increasingly proving not to be something for moralists or the faint-hearted Politics aims for a singular end election victory With this end in mind, politicians and political parties will take, and are taking, whatever means necessary to justify the end of election victory
Some people may rightfully criticize the PNP's open acceptance of support from a convicted murderer, although he has been freed However, if Kartel's support helps the party win the ensuing general elections, its acceptance of Kartel's support will definitely be regarded as justifiable

Judge Extends Pause on Biden's Parole Program for Undocumented Families
A federal judge has extended a temporary block on the Biden administration's "Keeping Families Together" policy, a program designed to create a pathway to citizenship for nearly 500,000 undocumented immigrants married to U S citizens Judge J Campbell Barker of the U S District Court for the Eastern District of Texas extended the block until September 23, allowing more time for legal arguments and a possible hearing
Last month, Judge Barker issued a 14-day stay, halting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from processing applications or granting parole under the policy During this period, DHS can continue accepting applications, though no action will be taken on them The stay can be extended if necessary or with the consent of all parties involved
The ruling comes in response to a lawsuit filed by 16 Republican-led states against DHS and other Biden administration officials Texas leads the lawsuit, with support from states including Florida, Georgia, and Ohio The lawsuit argues that the policy violates the Constitution and exacerbates the immigration crisis, particularly impacting border states like Texas Judge Barker cited several reasons for his decision He emphasized the need to preserve the court's ability to reverse the program's effects if the states win the lawsuit, noting that the states' claims warrant closer examination By temporarily pausing the program, the court aims to prevent any irreversible actions while it evaluates the case
The court has set an expedited schedule, with key deadlines in September and October A hearing on the case is expected to take place shortly after October 10 The Keeping Families Together policy is an expansion of an existing program known as "parole in place " It allows
undocumented spouses and stepchildren of U S citizens to apply to stay in the country temporarily If approved, they may then seek a marriage green card without leaving the United States The White House estimates that the program could benefit approximately 500,000 undocumented spouses and 50,000 stepchildren
Applicants must meet specific requirements to qualify, including continuous residency in the U S for at least 10 years and being married to a U S citizen by June 17, 2024 They must also have no criminal history or security concerns The application process includes a $580 fee and submission of Form I131F, along with a personal statement and proof of continuous presence in the country
EB-2 Visa Annual Limit Reached for 2024, Says State Department
The U S Department of State has announced that all available EB-2 visas for fiscal year 2024 have been issued, effectively halting new approvals until the next fiscal year
The EB-2 visa, designated for foreign workers with advanced degrees or exceptional abilities, is subject to an annual cap under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) This cap allows for 28 6% of the worldwide employment-based visa limit to be allocated to EB-2 applicants For 2024, that limit has now been reached, and no further EB-2 visas will be issued by U.S. embassies and consulates until the new fiscal year begins on October 1, 2024
For employers, this means the EB2 program is temporarily paused, delaying the hiring of foreign talent under this category until the next fiscal year However, this period offers an opportunity for both employers and prospective workers to prepare for the FY 2025 visa window
This news follows last month's a n n o u n c e m e n t b y t h e S t a t e Department that all visas in the EB-3, Other Workers (EW), and EB-5 categories had also been fully issued for fiscal year 2024

What is a subpoena?
Recently, the legal term subpoena has been resonating on national news A Fulton County judge has denied District Attorney Fani Willis' attempt to stop a subpoena forcing her to testify before the Georgia Senate committee investigating her The subpoenas, issued by the State
Investigations, seek Willis' testimony and documents related to her ongoing investigation into 2020 election interference and her relationship with Nathan Wade, a former special prosecutor Willis filed an emergency motion for an injunction to halt the subpoenas, which demanded her appearance at last week's hearing
But, what exactly is a subpoena?
According to the website Findlaw com the following describes a subpoena and how it works
A subpoena is a request for the production of documents, or a request to appear in court or other legal proceeding It is court-ordered command that essentially requires you to do something such as testify or present information that may help support the facts that are at issue in a pending case The term "subpoena" literally means "under penalty"
A person who receives a subpoena but does not comply with its terms may be subject to civil or criminal penalties, such as fines, jail time, or both
There are two types of subpoenas The first, called subpoena ad testificandum, requires you to testify before a court, or other legal authority The second, called subpoena duces tecum requires you to produce documents, materials, or other tangible evidence
A subpoena may be requested in any kind of matter, but the most common requests are from divorce, child custody, personal injury, and sex offender cases
Under state and federal civil or criminal
procedural laws, subpoenas offer attorneys a chance to obtain information to help prove or disprove their client's case Criminal attorneys, for example, often use subpoenas to obtain "witness" or lay opinion testimony from a third party that may lead to someone's guilt or innocence at trial Or, an attorney representing a spouse in a child custody hearing might issue a subpoena to the other spouse to appear in court to determine joint custody arrangements
Who May Issue a Subpoena?
In most instances, a subpoena can be issued and signed by an attorney on behalf of a court in which the attorney is authorized to practice law If the subpoena is for a high-level government official (such as the Governor, or agency head), then it must be signed by an administrative law judge In some cases, a non-lawyer may issue a subpoena if acting on his or her own behalf
How a Subpoena is Served
A subpoena is typically requested by an attorney and issued by a court clerk, a notary public, or a justice of the peace Once a subpoena is issued, it may be served on an
individual via hand, email, certified mail, or may be read to someone out loud
How to Respond to a Subpoena
The first thing one should do if one receives a subpoena is not ignore it A subpoena is part of a court's legal process and failure to respond to a subpoena is considered contempt of court in most states
The next step is to read through the subpoena to determine what is being requested and/or who is being asked to appear Also, you should make sure to protect and keep any documents in your possession safe
Lastly, you should look to see who is requesting the information and for what purpose, so you can adequately prepare for any testimony you are required to give at a trial or other proceeding Check the hearing date and time to avoid potential penalties and other consequences, and consult an attorney
Because a subpoena is a court-ordered command, a person who fails to obey it is subject to civil or criminal contempt of court charges Penalties for contempt of court often include payment of a fine, imprisonment, or both

Florida hospitals ask immigrants about their legal status
For three days, staff at an Orlando medical clinic worked diligently to convince a woman experiencing abdominal pain to seek emergency treatment. Despite their persistent efforts, the woman hesitated due to fears surrounding a 2023 Florida law that mandates hospitals ask patients about their legal status in the United States.
The legislation, part of Governor Ron DeSantis' extensive package of immigration reforms, has raised significant concerns among immigrant communities and healthcare providers alike
Grace Medical Home CEO Stephanie Garris described the clinic's repeated attempts to clarify the law's implications The clinic assured patients that they could decline to answer questions about their immigration status and still receive care, emphasizing that individual information would not be reported to state authorities “We tried to explain this again and again and again,” Garris said. Despite these assurances, the woman remained fearful and ultimately delayed her visit to the emergency room
The Florida law has created a climate of uncertainty and anxiety, particularly among immigrant populations As Florida navigates the impact of this legislation, Texas is preparing to implement similar measures starting November 1 Texas' law will affect hospitals enrolled in state health programs such as Medicaid and CHIP Unlike Florida's law, Texas' mandate does not require healthcare providers to inform patients that their status won't be reported to authorities Governor Greg Abbott defended the Texas law, stating, “Texans should not have to shoulder the burden of financially supporting medical care for illegal immigrants ”
lights that work; sewage in pipes underground and not running in the streets; clean piped water in our homes; roads that don't mash up our vehicles' front-end; public health facilities that treat people with dignity and provide good and affordable health care; schools that give every child a strong basic education so they can go on to pursue whatever career they choose; and we want to feel safe in our homes and communities ”
He laid out the PNP's vision to transform Jamaica, focusing on creating a global maritime and aviation logistics hub, advancing agriculture and the blue economy for rural development, and establishing 24-hour entertainment zones Golding also highlighted the need to develop clear guidelines under the Noise Abatement Act for night-time entertainment and to regularize electricity in communities with illegal connections, with the state covering most rewiring costs Golding assured supporters that the PNP would apply a mix of policy changes to “put things right” and emphasized that the party is prepared to lead with a diverse pool of talent
“We are ready to take the bold steps necessary to make Jamaicans' lives better, and we have a plan The time has come for change, and the People's National Party will bring change,” the PNP leader concluded

Both Florida and Texas have substantial immigrant populations and high rates of uninsured individuals, reflecting broader national challenges The states' Republican leaders argue that these laws are necessary responses to what they perceive as inadequate federal immigration enforcement However, the early data on the impact of Florida's law remains sparse and inconclusive
Florida GOP state Senator Blaise Ingoglia, who sponsored the bill, asserted that the law is “the strongest, and most comprehensive state-led, anti-ILLEGAL immigration law ” Yet, he did not address questions from The Associated Press regarding the law's effects on the immigrant community or patient care Internal medicine doctor Luis Isea, who works with patients in both hospitals and clinics in central Florida, criticized the law, saying it “is creating that extra barrier” for patients already facing significant healthcare disparities
Immigrant advocacy groups in Florida have been actively working to dispel misconceptions about the law They have sent thousands of text messages and emails and held informational clinics to explain that law enforcement agencies will not receive individual status information because data is reported in aggregate Despite these efforts, many outreach calls from health workers went unanswered, and some patients reported leaving Florida due to the law's impact on their ability to access healthcare and secure employment
Verónica Robleto, program director at the Rural Women's Health Project in north central Florida, recounted a call from a young woman fearful of being separated from her child if she gave birth in a hospital Robleto's intervention ultimately persuaded the woman to seek medical care
Researchers caution that the data collected in both Florida and Texas may be unreliable Health economist Paul Keckley suggested that reports from Florida state officials could be “incomplete or inaccurate or misleading,” raising concerns about the validity of the data regarding the laws' impact on healthcare access and immigrant communities

Jamaica awaits Greenwood as England manager admits star is off the radar
Mason Greenwood, the former Manchester United winger and current Marseille sensation, appears poised to make a seismic shift in his international career, setting his sights on representing Jamaica instead of England
This move comes after England’s interim manager, Lee Carsley, publicly stated that Greenwood is not in contention for the Three Lions’ squad despite his blistering start in Ligue 1
Speaking ahead of England’s Nations League clashes with the Republic of Ireland and Finland, Carsley made it clear that the 21year-old was off the table for selection “I cannot consider Greenwood for selection for England,” he asserted, drawing a decisive line under Greenwood’s chances with England’s national team, at least for the foreseeable future
Greenwood’s decision to switch allegiance comes as his career regains momentum After an explosive start at Marseille, where he bagged five goals in just four games, Greenwood was crowned the club’s Player of the Month for August This triumphant return followed a difficult hiatus Greenwood had spent 18 months away from the pitch after facing serious legal charges, including attempted rape and assault Although the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in early 2023, the scandal left a lasting impact on his standing in England
Despite the tainted past, Greenwood qualifies to switch allegiances under FIFA’s guidelines, having made only a single senior appearance for England coming on as a substitute in a 2020 Nations League match against Iceland Now, it seems Jamaica is eager to secure his talents
According to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), efforts are already underway to finalize his citizenship JFF President Michael Ricketts shared optimism
about the progress, stating, “I really cannot speak on how far the filing process is But there are some players who have made applications for their Jamaican passports, and we are hopeful ”
The strategic appointment of Steve McClaren, former England manager and onetime Manchester United assistant coach, as Jamaica’s new head coach likely played a key role in Greenwood’s consideration McClaren,
who knows Greenwood well from their days together at Old Trafford, is believed to have been instrumental in luring the forward to the Reggae Boyz
Jamaica has been on a promising trajectory under McClaren, remaining unbeaten in their opening two CONCACAF Nations League fixtures. If Greenwood’s paperwork is completed, the six-time Caribbean Cup champions could be adding a powerful new weapon to their arsenal
This anticipated switch has sparked excitement among Jamaican football fans, as Greenwood’s arrival could signal a new era for the Reggae Boyz With their World Cup ambitions firmly in sight, Jamaica is keen to maximize its pool of international talent, particularly with players of Greenwood’s caliber
As Greenwood looks set to don the iconic black, green, and gold, it marks the start of what could be a thrilling new chapter in his football journey and for Jamaican football
