e’ve all heard the expression, “it was written in the stars”, and we’ve all listened to so many songs written about those stars, too. How many times really though do we encounter that love story, where you know it was just destined to be, no matter how we try to rationalize otherwise? Sometimes, it literally takes those stars shining upon us, in that ever perfect moment, to zap us with that awakening moment that yes, this really is it, no more denying no matter how hard we try. Paul, a perfectionist, had been previously married and divorced. The father of two now grown children had spent 11 years filtering through dating websites searching for that soul mate. Structured, organized, and a true believer in being on time, he is now retired from the ophthalmology practice he had founded and owned for 27 years. A bit of a loaner, his joy was taking care of his patients, a true workaholic with a passion for getting things done yesterday. Staying committed to his profession and his business provided all the support he needed through the years as he held onto the hope of finding the right one. Silvia, a very social, outgoing and retired language teacher, had been married twice before, and had only spent about 6 months scouting those same dating sites. her. Personally, she has a passion for living a healthy lifestyle, maintains a rigorous daily fitness regimen including racquetball, yoga and meditation, attends sporting events, and loves competing in ping pong and tennis. This ping pong couple, who play 8-10 games nightly together, smilingly agree that she can beat him any time and every time, too. Money doesn’t obsess her, and she’s very prudent when it comes to financial matters. Not the materialistic or superficial type either, and as she says this in her workout clothes and pulled back hair with no makeup, I see her true beauty shine through, and agree. Although opposites, they share the same core values, and hold the same standards which gives them the space to be themselves and support each other’s hobbies and differences. He’s a news junkie, loves to cook and tend to the garden, and as Silvia says, he makes the perfect house husband. Paul replies that Silvia is very affectionate, caring, down-to-earth, and has strong family ties with her Brazilian family who reside in Palm Beach County. That’s important to him. So, it all started after meeting and corresponding online for a time, Paul and Silvia decided to go out for dinner together. As enjoyable as the evening was, they did not fall in love at first sight, and both agreed that they left this date as friends. A few weeks later they decided to get together again. Both of them still dating others said this was “just friends”. However, over just a short period of time, this friendship turned into being the best of friends. Silvia found herself texting Paul, and asking his advice on the dating scene because she truly trusted him. So when they got together for dinner again, she began to have some reservations. Another date? Hmmm, she began to question herself. We are just friends. Why another date? What should I wear? Should I dress a little sexy? She felt a little confused, so she asked Paul. He responded with “whatever you are comfortable with, use your judgment”. There was no pressure. So she thought, maybe she was reading this wrong. She decided to dress a little sexy but not revealing. Right at this moment during the interview, Paul outbursts with, “Oh those pants! Unbelievable.” So I’m thinking now, she left quite the impression. Remembering this night in West Palm Beach, they both say dinner was great. It was pouring rain, but there

was only a kiss on the cheek and a hug. All of a sudden she lights up as she tells me, they went to the art gallery upstairs from the restaurant, and while there she seemingly heard an angel whisper into her ear, “He needs you”. As she tells me this we both get goose bumps, and now I become fascinated. I am now not only hearing their story, I am feeling it, too. Time passes. He asks her to accompany him to Cayman Brac for Thanksgiving week. She hesitates and tells him she will see. In the meantime, as she thinks about this and consults with her family about it, things just seem to fall into place. Her employment transitioned, and somehow she suddenly ended up having that week off from work. She thought things happen for a reason, and called her mother and sisters to discuss this trip with them. Off to the island they go. A little surprised and taken back when they arrive. Uh oh, it’s an exclusive resort, a honeymooner’s paradise, the perfect place for two people in love. But they weren’t in love, and now they would have to spend five days here. He grew concerned and thought he better be a “good boy” or what would she think? She was feeling awkward as well, and figured she just had to make the best of it. So they began to do some extracurricular activities together but no holding hands she states, just friend stuff. At night they shared a huge California king bed where he made sure he slept on the edge, her stating she did not know how he managed to not fall off the bed during the night. She felt bad, saying to him that she was thin, she didn’t need all that room, and she didn’t want him to be uncomfortable. He started her day, every day, by bringing her coffee when she awoke and her favorite cookies, too. He let her rest, never burdening or pressuring her into starting the day. By the fourth day her sisters were asking if there was anything new in this friendship. “Nope,” she would reply, “we are just friends forever. “ Day 5, it’s the dawning day, or should we say the awakening night? It’s Friday, the last night of this somewhat awkward, somewhat alluring trip in which they will head out from tomorrow. This being the last night they decided to dress up a little for dinner. As they leave their cute little

bungalow, she begins to imagine…what if he just held her hand while they were walking? Maybe then it could be a date, but she laughs and gives him a little peck and off they go. When they arrive at the restaurant, the girls there that they have gotten to know over the week are telling Paul that he’s a lucky guy to have such a pretty lady. He continues to respond by saying that she was not his. Dinner is over, no one is sleepy; it’s only 10:00 PM, and their last night there. So what should we do? They decide to go outside and enjoy the beautiful night. They lay on a huge chaise lounge made for two, looking up at an amazing full moon with an incredible view of all the twinkling stars shining down upon them. She wanted to play a singing game. So she began to sing. She finished her song, and then he began to sing. She couldn’t believe it. Wow, what a voice he had. Then, he took her hand and she says, “The angels took the arrow and hit her flesh”. She felt like she was in heaven. She just kept saying to herself, “Oh my God, what is going on?” And then she thought, “Ok, he can kiss me now.” All of a sudden she felt different. It was that moment, that connection, his voice. She fell in love. Underneath the stars, for it was written in those stars. Now, it was time for bed. As a true gentleman, he gave her a peck and went to his side of the bed. She couldn’t sleep. There were too many overwhelming emotions. She wanted to cuddle, but he stayed on his side of the bed just like every other night there. It was the normal nighttime routine. Somehow she drifted off to sleep. The next day everything was different. Was it the magic of the island? Or just feelings they were denying before? Now waiting for the plane ride home, they were like teenagers, holding hands and kissing. It was from this moment on that they became an inseparable couple. For some reason at that point, Paul still did not feel as though he was in love yet. They decided it was time to be exclusive and go full throttle into the relationship which grew and grew. The scientist and doctor in him had always believed that if you date exclusively for one year, at the end of that year you will know whether you need to commit or end the relationship. Wouldn’t you know, he proposed at his house on their one year anniversary from the Caymen Brac trip. Silvia’s family and Paul’s children were there, and knew of this surprise proposal but kept it under wraps. proposal. Right at this moment a delivery man arrives at the door with a package for her. It s a surprise gift that he bought for her, but she’s not opening it and my curiosity grows as I watch the expressions on their faces, and can see the true love and joy they bring to each other. The wedding, held at their gorgeous home on Lansing Island, was just the perfect venue to add to this magical story. Silvia had never had a real wedding nor had she ever worn a wedding dress. Paul wanted to make her dreams become a reality. After watching the video and seeing the photos, I understood, he sure did. His favorite part of the wedding was seeing her walk down the aisle and the moment they were pronounced man and wife. They both wrote their own personal vows, but nothing could touch her heart more than him singing “Only You”. Three empty chairs with a white, long stemmed rose on each took prime space at the front of the ceremony, and were dedicated to Paul’s parents and Silvia’s father. Knowing that all would be present to witness this true love story, they wanted to make sure they had a special place to honor those who had passed on. Their future holds endless possibilities as they continue to grow, love and better understand one another, and become real, true partners in life. They are deeply committed to making their relationship work forever. Their advice to other couples is “We are only here for a short period of time, so be as happy as possible. Always be respectful and supportive of your partner, for better or worse”.

Stephanie, a lively free spirit, who I must say is absolutely beautiful. You can almost see that inner beauty just radiating right through which seems to make her glow. She’s the playful and adventurous type and you only have to be around her for a few short moments to pick up on that. What she loves, helping others and throwing get-togethers at their home with friends.

All of this was happening at the same time she was searching for a way to support her daughter. As things were falling into place and knowing that things happen for a reason, she decided to follow that passion of hers and joined forces in another partnership for a few years. With that business taking off in another direction, Stephanie then decided to leave where she was and go off on her own. Once again, things just started to fall into place. Stephanie started CakeKrush eight years ago. What began with a wedding cake she had made for a friend turned out to be something that everyone raved about and requests for more started to pour in. She was self taught and had this artistic ability that made her baked goods stand out from the rest. Of course, she uses only the finest and highest quality ingredients and this is one reason why she has won many contests and has a vast following. She believes that taste is more important than looks, hence her slogan, “it’s love at first bite”

The Business:

Christopher is the drama free, easy going, kind of guy. Stephanie throws in there that he is hilarious as well, and cracks her up constantly. He had been in the car sales business for about four years. It was a grueling job and he decided it really wasn’t where he wanted to be. He does however have a very interesting family background. Chris is a third generation Entenmann, how ironic. You know, those well loved baked goodies sold all over the country that many of us have grown up on. Christopher’s great-grandfather was William Entenmann Sr. When his grandmother married, she took the last name of her husband and therefore he would be born without that famous name. He says it was his uncles that took the NY German Bakery and made it a corporate household name.

With a huge following and so many people who are crazy about her delectable’s it was a no brainer for her. After all she could train him; it’s in his blood, so they went for it. They spent the summer in training and opened at their new location in July. And what a team they are. Stephanie handles the decorating, design, consult and store presentation along with her event company Bella Dole Weddings and Events which is an awesome combination of the bakery and florist and Chris does baking, sales and delivery. Together they handle all sorts of functions from simple birthday parties to lavish weddings and designing major events. CakeKrush is a full service dessert bakery that specializes in gourmet cupcakes, wedding cakes, event dessert bars and just about anything your sweet tooth may desire. All baked items are handcrafted, unique and amazingly delicious. With the ability to rent beautiful footed cake stands, platters, cupcake towers and unique presentation items, all of your needs are taken care of. Not to mention the fact that they not only deliver and arrange the items to your specifications, they even return the next day and pick up the rented display items so you don’t have to.

Because they are both in their second marriage and have learned many lessons from the previous one, they know now how to appreciate what they have. They understand each other’s strengths. They have already learned not to mix business with pleasure and insist on their designated time. She tells me, he makes her feel safe. He supports her in everything she does and is her biggest fan. He constantly makes her laugh and just makes the relationship easy. The way it is supposed to be. He tells me, they are best friends. He knew when they were dating she was the one. He slept like he hadn’t slept in years when they got together. Going out, partying, those days were done.

They met seven years ago through, who would have guessed, Facebook. They realized shortly afterwards that they were both alumni graduating from the same school but with a four year difference they never crossed paths during that time although they did share mutual friends. Stephanie recalls about the first time she saw Chris. She went out with friends for dinner and drinks. Chris was on the dance floor and her friend said, “what about him?” She laughs as she remembers and says “no way!” The way he was dressed, she said she never ever would date him. Well we all know the saying, never say never! They met up a few times over the years and ended up becoming really good friends. She was going through a divorce and his friendship and support led them to become the best of friends. Their wedding took place at Lansing Island Club House. Stephanie did all of her own flowers and cake. It was an evening wedding with nothing of the traditional sorts in the mix. Everything about the wedding was off the charts. One of their closest of friends became an ordained minister just to be able to marry them. How special that was she says. Her bridesmaids were five of her best friends. She considers herself very lucky that she was able to stay at her friend Charlotte’s across from the club house to get ready and also says she knows how fortunate she was, that she could not have had this special day without the help of family and friends. When you talk about out of the ordinary, their wedding cake was a replica of the Wilson Volleyball from the movie Castaway, complete with the hair and handprint. Why you would ask would they choose that? Well because this was Chris’ favorite move to decompress and he watched it over and over. He even walked out to the movies theme song for the wedding. You may find your soul mate, but it’s more than that, you need to keep that soul mate once you connect. They insist on mandatory date nights. He says, “You still need to date your wife!” So they lock themselves away. They agree that they work really hard all week but when their time comes, she says “you got to fill the love tank!” They have only been married three months but have been together for seven and a half years and were actually married at the point when most get that itch, they got hitched.
