June 2011 Dear mission partners, On May 14th, COCM held a one-‐day Mainland Chinese Student Ministry Consultation, aiming to create a platform to share the experience and resources among those who are currently doing this student minis-‐ try or are interested in starting doing it. It was a delight for me to meet up with more than 60 people who came from both English-‐speaking churches and Chinese churches and all of them have the heart for main-‐ land Chinese students. COCM also utilized this opportunity to introduce our resources to support those who are doing this ministry, and to explore with them the possible partnership in the future. I thank God for calling many local believers throughout Europe to serve and care for the students from Mainland Chi-‐ na. As we are seeking more partnership with the local English-‐speaking churches, we also continue to devel-‐ op the new mission frontier with many Chinese churches. In the first week of May, it is a privilege for me to participate as a speaker of North England Chinese Christian Conference (NECCC). I was encouraged to see that the churches in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and other places working together for this confer-‐ ence. As the Chinese churches mature, COCM would like to work hand in hand with these churches to advance God’s kingdom. At the beginning of June, we will have our annual staff retreat. This is the only time of the year that all our COCM staff workers across the world gather together and have fellowship with each other. The topic of this year is “Mission of God’s People” and we invited our COCM Council Chairman Rev. John Wallis as our keynote speaker. As we move forward, we also need to stop and reflect upon the bigger picture of God’s mission in order to know our roles in His plan. Please pray that God will renew our vision and rekindle our passion for His work. We value the fellowship among our COCM staff workers, but it is also our burden to create a platform for other pastors and missionaries laboring in the mission field of Europe to encourage and support each other. They could be the loneliest group because of limited resources and vast needs of the people they are ministering to. I am glad that in the past two years, COCM has hosted three pastoral retreats for them in the UK. On June 27th-‐28th, we will organize this year’s pastoral retreat again. I pray that COCM will be the place for them to refresh, to relax, and to fellowship. I also pray that through this retreat, pastors and missionaries can be renewed to continue serving the Lord in their fields. As we push forward our evangelizing strategy, we are also developing our equipping plans. On June 20th-‐ 24th, we will have the first of our two Bible camps of this year. Our main target group will be the universi-‐ ty students, who are willing to learn the Bible. I pray that God’s word will be the transforming power to change the lives of these young people. One day, these young people will be sent to change the lives of many others and be the driving force to influence the society wherever they go!
