August 2011 Dear mission partners, The first week of August, we will have our annual summer PHAT Camp for the second-‐generation English-‐speaking Chinese. The theme of this year is “Taking Ground”. We are expecting more than 200 young people participating in the camp and this will be the largest for the past few years. Rev. Philip Gee from California and Ps. Howard Ngan from Toronto are the keynote speak-‐ ers. Please pray that many young people at the camp come to know Christ in a personal and deeper level, and that their lives will be transformed as they are touched by His love and grace! Prior to this camp, more than 40 PHAT leaders came to the COCM mission centre for leadership training on 29th – 31st July. I am most excited about our young and energetic local team of leaders under the leadership of Wesley Lai who is once again organizing this year’s camp. May God use all the leaders as a channel of His blessing, love and mercy. Please pray that God will pour down His blessings on all the leaders and as they overflow the other young people will be blessed. On 29th July, our Gospel Team set out for our first evangelistic event this year at East Anglia Uni-‐ versity in Norwich. The team is comprised of core members from COCM as well as young univer-‐ sity students who volunteer their time to be trained and to prepare for this exciting ministry. We collaborated hand in hand with the Norwich Chinese Christian Fellowship (NCCF) to share the love of Christ with many new Chinese students coming to do language courses this summer. More than 60 students came along to attend this gospel event. Around 20 students raised their hands to accept the love of God and many more are interested in exploring about the faith. Praise the Lord for this great encouragement to us, especially the young people on the team. Please continue to pray for the follow-‐up of these new students and may the seeds of Gospel sowing in their hearts grow into true faith one day. Please also pray for the next 19 evangelistic events planned in different university campuses throughout UK, France and Spain. May the Lord bless the feet of His messengers who bring Good News and prepare the hearts of the students who are ready to accept this blessing! I am very encouraged to see that God's renewing power be upon all the young soldiers for Christ, whether they are Chinese or English speaking. I am reminded by God’s word in 1 Timothy 4:12a, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young”, so please join me to pray for these young people that they will continue to be energised to live for Christ, and serve Him with their changed lives.
