《未得之地》
From the General Director
INSIDE
According to COCM’s evangelism strategy, mainland Chinese students are one of the priority target groups. Every autumn, universities in the UK and throughout Europe welcome new students, many of whom are from China. Most of these students have left home for the very first time, arriving by themselves in a foreign country to begin a new life of independence. In order to make the most of this evangelistic opportunity, as well as to be more effective in connecting with these students in a greater variety of settings, we formed the COCM Gospel Team in May of this year. This coming September and October we plan to have evangelistic events in eight cities in the UK, two cities in France, and one city in Finland. The approach employed for each of these events will be tailored according to the specific local contexts and needs. COCM has observed an increasing number of mainland Chinese students in the UK in recent years. In response, we have sent out our co-workers to various areas to pioneer Mandarin speaking ministries, and to begin establishing settled work on university campuses. One of the roles of the Gospel Team is to assist local co-workers in organising evangelistic meetings for new students. After such meetings, the local fellowships would have the responsibility to nurture new believers. In addition to this, the Gospel Team would also partner with existing local Chinese churches and fellowships in various other locations. We will send out the Team to assist churches and fellowships in planning evangelistic meetings, according to the local needs. Furthermore, the Gospel Team will work with English-speaking churches in the areas where there are no existing Chinese churches or fellowships, in order to bring the Gospel to mainland Chinese students and to facilitate the setting up of new Christian fellowships.

In the process of implementing these strategies, we hope to make connections with students who are non-believers in order to share with them the good news of the Gospel. Moreover, we hope to recruit a group of young believers who are passionate about spreading the Gospel and to equip them for the work of evangelism. During the process of working with these young believers, we hope to encourage them to serve in local churches and to mobilise them to serve in pioneer situations. In all these various cities and settings, the Gospel Team will aim to strengthen long-term partnerships with local Chinese churches and fellowships. It is also our goal to develop close contact with local English-speaking churches, so as to work together for the advancement of the Gospel. We thank the Lord for giving us a vision, and revealing to us the need for the Gospel. We also praise God for providing workers who complement each other in service, and for providing opportunities to disciple young believers. Such opportunities also allow us to encourage individuals and churches to participate in the work of the Gospel. Through fervent prayer, may we all continue to bring the living waters of Jesus Christ to parched souls who are searching for truth.
