READ AFRICA BALL
The Event
At CODE, we imagine a world where every child can read and write – where books are accessible and meaningful to the reader. We imagine a world where every young person can pursue their education and realize their full potential.
The 3rd Read Africa Ball, will be held Friday November 16, 2012 at 8:00PM at the Rosehill Venue Lounge in Toronto. Help us celebrate the launch of CODE’s Kilimanjaro Climb 2014 at this year’s Read Africa Ball!
For over 50 years, CODE has been working to build such a world and our achievements are many.
Event Specifics:
• A unique event that will bring people together in Toronto. A meaningful evening that will make a difference in the lives of thousands of children. • Dancing to live African rhythms • Hors d’oeuvres • Silent auction and raffle consisting of various prizes including unique African items • Ticket price - $75 per person
Through its international programs, CODE builds literacy by providing schools and community libraries in developing countries with well-written books that children can relate to, and teachers with the skills they need to bring these books to life. We invite you to join our community of supporters through your sponsorship of the 2012 Read Africa Ball and make a life-changing investment in literacy and quality education. Your support will help CODE realize that vision of a world where every child can read and write and every young adult can pursue their education and build a brighter future for themselves, for their local community and for the world in which we live.
• Expected attendance - 200 - 250
Event Objectives:
• To raise awareness of CODE’s 50+ years of education / literacy work in the developing world. • To raise $60,000 for CODE’s international programs • Launch the recruitment for the 2014 CODE Kilimanjaro Climb. A team of climbers will raise funds and awareness for CODE by reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
If you can read and write, you can learn to do, and be, anything. That’s the idea behind CODE.

Help us celebrate the launch of the CODE Kilimanjaro Climb 2014 at the Read Africa Ball
In the summer of 2014, a group of climbers will once again come together to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as a fundraising initiative for CODE’s literacy and education programs in Africa. The two previous expeditions were in 2006 and 2010. The search is on for those interested in taking part in the 2014 Climb. Set a personal fund-raising goal, travel to Africa, and show your support for CODE by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! Watch the CODE website at codecan.org for the latest information.
