Welcome to ISHCMC! Founded in 1993 the International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) is a non-denominational, co-educational and multicultural international school with over 40 nationalities. Teaching the International Baccalaureate in the English medium, ISHCMC has over 850 students, aged 2 years to 18 years.

Curriculum A challenging academic inquiry-based curriculum which takes into consideration the whole child and his/her personal and emotional development. ISHCMC is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City to be authorized to offer all three IB programmes; the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma.

Junior & Elementary School

Junior School: Early Explorers 2 years – Grade 1 Elementary School: Grade 2 – Grade 5

Grade 9 – Grade 12

The Junior and Elementary Schools curriculum is based on the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). It focuses on the overall growth of the developing child, addressing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare.

The IBPYP curriculum combines the best research and practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experiences from international schools to create a relevant and engaging educational program that transcends national boundaries. The program offers a comprehensive, inquiry-based approach to learning that incorporates guidelines on student learning styles, teaching methodologies and assessment strategies.

Subject groups offered are Language, Mathematics, Physical Education, Art, Music and Technology.

middle School Grade 6 – Grade 8

The curriculum of the Middle School is based on the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) which provides a framework of academic challenges and life skills for students.

The IBMYP is based around traditional school subjects but students are encouraged to look at knowledge in an interdisciplinary way and to solve problems with information obtained from a variety of sources.

The IBMYP stresses the importance of intercultural awareness and respect for individual differences while developing confident communicators and empowered global citizens.

Subject groups are Language A, Language B, Mathematics, Technology, Humanities, Sciences, The Arts and Physical Education. ISHCMC has a 1 : 1 Tablet PC program for all Middle School students.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is recognized by leading universities all over the world and the skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation that are learned in the IB programme make ISHCMC graduates highly desirable applicants for university.

Students study 9 subject areas in Grade 9-10 and 7 subject areas in Grade 11-12. Subject groups offered are Language A, Language B, Mathematics, Technology (Grade 9-10 only), Humanities, Sciences, The Arts and Physical Education. ISHCMC offers a 1 : 1 Tablet PC programme for all High School students to further academic study.

Grade 9 - 10 All students who complete two semesters in Grade 10 will receive the IB MYP Record of Achievement. This certificate documents the students internationally recognised grades in each of the subjects they study at ISHCMC. In addition, students who are able to satisfy the demanding requirements set out by the IB MYP also receive the MYP Certificate.

Grade 11 - 12 Every student at ISHCMC has the opportunity to undertake the rigorous IB diploma programme and a vast majority of our them choose to do so. Students are awarded the Diploma by IB after their examinations in Grade 12. Alternatively students may opt to take individual Diploma subjects, for which they are awarded Certificates

by IB. All students meeting the school requirements are also awarded the ISHCMC High School Diploma.
