Greetings to the Delegates of the International Assembly

>

Welcome back to Louisville for the 2012 International Assembly of the Church of God of Prophecy! Anticipation is high that God is going to meet with us through the sessions of this Assembly, empowering and guiding us onward as we are “Anointed to Lead.”

Our theme is “Anointed to Lead, Join the Journey.” As the leadership of this movement considered the focus of this Assembly, the sense of God’s impression was clear in two points: the work of the Holy Spirit ministry and vision. Even though our last Assembly raised the Spirit theme, we could not get away from the sense that this was a call from heaven for this church to dig deeply into our calling and heritage to renew our passion for the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit. God has anointed His children with the oil of the Spirit to proclaim His Gospel and build His Kingdom. Our prayer is that this Assembly will affirm in each of our hearts that God has intentionally anointed us by His Spirit. Today we realize that God is using anointed leaders to move His people forward toward His Last Days. Vision is the universal means for leadership and God intends that His people will not lack in vision. We believe God is pressing into our movement the three core values of Vision 2020. We feel strongly these are His high priorities for us and we are committed to pursue these objectives and lead under His vision. Because God has ‘Anointed to Lead’ this body through Vision 2020, this movement is on a journey. We have eight years left in our march toward our vision. We will become a “Christ-exalting, Bible-centered, Holiness, Spirit-filled, all-nations, disciple-making, church-planting movement with a passion for Christian union.” This week you will hear of the General Presbyters building their vision, regional ministries building their vision, and best of all, local churches building their vision. Our invitation in this Assembly is to all levels and entities of this family of ministry. “Join the Journey,” as we walk ahead “Anointed to Lead.” Glorifying God Through Prayer and Leadership Development, All for the Harvest!

Behind the Scenes of Worship Leading: Preparation, Practice, and Presentation Kris Dockery, COGOP Worship Leaders Network Coordinator; Worship Pastor, St. Marys, Georgia Today’s worship movement can be perceived as production oriented—striving for excellence over spirituality. This workshop will deal with the background of excellence in worship and challenge worship leaders in their preparation to lead corporate worship to a Holy, Almighty God—in spirit and truth. Celebrate Recovery—Drawing The Brokenhearted & Those In Bondage Mike Jennette, Senior Pastor, Empowered Ministries COGOP, Dickson, Tennessee Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step program that uses the traditional 12 steps with God’s Word to heal people with hurts, habits, and life hang-ups. This session will inform people of the program and how it works, share testimonials of its effectiveness, and teach you how to begin. Celebrate Recovery is something your community needs to combat addictions and dysfunctional living. Finding and Maintaining the Physical and Mental Edge to Lead Bess Howard This is a leaders’ only class. I will teach you a way to maintain and even rebuild the mental and physical stamina you need to become a better leader even in stressful circumstances. Most of us work very hard to become the leaders we want to be and just in the prime of our lives, when we have more wisdom, maturity, and esteem among our peers, we often begin to physically and mentally break down. Successful leadership is often thwarted by poor diet, the lack of or inability to sleep, and pushing ourselves far beyond our physical limits; and when this happens long enough, then our central brain sends out signals to restrict us so that we then must rest; many of us call this exhaustion. Don’t allow your greatness to be abbreviated by disease brought on by high stress. I have a real passion for our leadership and I want to share a plan with you that will guarantee your physical and mental endurance; this is my way to ensure that your body and mind will keep pace with your spirit and passion.

KC2L: Kids Choosing to Lead Kim Batson, Tennessee State Children’s Ministries Director, Dickson, Tennessee I hear people say our children are the church of tomorrow. I believe our children are the church of TODAY! Our children are ready to take on leadership roles in our local churches. Are we ready to give them the training they need to be the effective leaders God has called them to be? This workshop will focus on developing kids who will choose to lead and how children’s ministers can be intentional in leadership training in our local churches. I don’t believe we have a shortage of leaders. I believe we have failed to develop them. Operation Omega Next Gen Ministries: The Way Forward Part 1 & 2 Trevor and Aileen Reid, International Youth Ministries Co-Directors These sessions will focus on developing leaders at all levels of youth ministries to transform the youth culture. All national, regional, state, and local leaders are invited to attend. The Powerful Blessings of Tithing and Giving Jan Couch, Stewardship Ministries Director “What meaneth these heaps,” Hezekiah asks. Zadok answered, “Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the Lord, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the Lord hath blessed his people, and that which is left is this great store” (2 Chronicles 31:10). God blesses abundantly, funds the Harvest, and His people rejoice in plenty. Be renewed in this powerful biblical principle. What is the key to funding the Harvest? How do we get there? The objective of this workshop is to facilitate the Harvest and Leadership Development values by encouraging the flow of funds that support these. This workshop is for everyone, especially Stewardship Ministries Directors.

INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY

31

Randall E. Howard Supervisor General
