SWAP PAPER FOR FABRIC I’m a fan of furoshikistyle—Japanese wrapping done with fabric. Use a piece at least double the gift’s size. Place it in the center of the fabric, fold the bottom and top pieces over it, flip it over, and tie the ends together in a knot at the center. You can see techniques in online videos. I wrapped my sister’s gift in a scarf last year, she loved it!

MAKE A POM-POM BOW Adorbs. The how-to: Tie a 10-inch-wide piece of tulle around a gift and cut the ends to about 1 foot long. Fold each end into a cone shape, drop mini pom-poms into the bottoms, and carefully tie into a bow. Trim, fluff it up, and massage to disperse the poms.

STASH GIFTS IN A BOOKCASE Or scatter them around built-in shelves. It adds seasonal spirit to a room and, bonus, frees up space beneath your tree. Matching the wrapping paper to ornaments makes a Christmas color scheme complete. HGTV Magazine 25
