1J1 re.aqmatt 1!ji.atory Lo , it came to pa in t h e month of October, 1 9 1 8 , a great multitude came to dwel l in our mid t . From far-off count rie t hey ame, seeking the promised land, flowing with wi dom and knowledge . Everywhere they encamped round about us and we were or dismaye d . T hey were inhabitants of strange countrie and knew not our wayc, and great was the fear t hereof that we must t each them and in t ruct th m in th way t h ey should go . B ut lo, it c ame to p ass that t he mult itude wa vi ited ¡with t v. o great plagues and they were sore afflicted. H omesickne and influen z a were a courge upon the l and, and m any o f the vast multitude returned to t he l and. from whence t hey c am e . Because of their afflictions , we h ad compa ion on them and lived in fellowship and peacefulness with them . After m any day had passed, the plague was removed from the l and and peace reigned once more in the h eart of the multitude. And it came to p ass t h at the j u dgment day in t h e ancient temple of Phi C h i was close at b and, and they were ore afraid . But, lo , t he elders of the land, in their wisdom and m ight, bad abandoned t he ancient cu tom. and t h e old l aw and prophecy h ad vanished away . Thu , when tbe day o f the j udgment of Phi Chi came to p ass, t here was no weeping and wailing and gnaRhing of teeth , but great wa the rej oicing thereof . And t hu in peac and harmony t h e multitude continues to dwell among u s . B efore another y e a r h a c o m e t o p a , they v.rill h ave changed t heir dwelling p lace . T hey too will move o n as t h e dwellers in this strange l and needs must do . Now t hey see t h rough a glas , darkly , but when that which is perfect m ay come, m ay they know even al o as it is known , why the elders of this great country deem them o sore an affliction .
