Our engineering programmes have been designed to provide higher technical qualifications for an ever changing, high tech and extremely challenging industry. Programmes are designed with employers’ needs in mind, because we know that students with the skills and knowledge employers really need can access rewarding career opportunities, in a wide range of exciting industries across the globe. We currently have over 200 students studying with us who are sponsored by employers. We maintain very close links with the industry to ensure that the content of our programmes reflects current practices and anticipates future technological developments. It is a good time to be involved in a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subject based employment. The government recognises that there is a shortage of technical skills and knowledge across the country and employers are experiencing real skills shortages, particularly at technician level and above.

that employers require. Skills such as analytical methods, business acumen, technical knowledge, communication and a real focus on problem solving. These courses provide candidates with an ideal means to access this exciting industry and carve out a career of their choice. Locally, significant developments are planned, particularly around offshore wind farms, nuclear power, and power generation and distribution. This means that engineering skills will be in higher demand than ever, which in turn means fantastic opportunities for our students.

We have developed our Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas to develop the range of skills in our candidates

Fees Major Government reforms to student finance commenced in 2012-2013 resulting in universities and colleges being able to charge variable fees. Universities and colleges that want to charge more than the basic fee (level not yet set for 2015-2016) must provide additional support to promote access to disadvantaged students. At the time of printing, Colchester Institute had not set course fees and support levels for 2015-2016. Once we have done so, we will update the fees pages on our website. We therefore recommend you consult our website for this information before you submit your UCAS application for entry to study in autumn 2015. These changes apply to UK and EU students wishing to study higher education in England.
